Crashes immediately on launch, even on multiple different computers. Should not have to jump through hoops just to launch a game.
No longer even launches. Another worthless game by an even more worthless company.
this game sucks
Played with a stick, no VR. Singleplayer campaign to completion, but I didn't grind for all the medals. Played on Veteran difficulty, genre newbies could go with either Pilot or Veteran. As someone who hasn't seen a Disney Star Wars film, I liked this. Mostly original trilogy vibes here. Gameplay is a slight disappointment to a fan of the 90s genre greats, but Squadrons is more approachable as a result. Checkpoints are abundant and forgiving, levels are small but surprisingly built up for a space flight game. Pilot difficulty should enable a very smooth play experience. Veteran wasn't by any means anxiety inducing. It makes enough nods towards the 90s that if you decide to play TIE Fighter, Wing Commander or Freespace afterwards, you'll go "so that's where they got it from". Very much a baby's first space combat sim. You don't even need a stick for this one. Grab it on sale to sample the genre. If you end up having fun with Squadrons, take a look at some of the classics next.
The overly diverse, ugly, unlikeable characters in the story mode were extremely jarring and weird. It didn't feel like a Star Wars cast at all. It made me uninterested in the dialog or characters which lead to the story being not enjoyable. Female representation is through the roof and they are all girl bosses. Then, you are fighting a large ship with external turbo lasers and you can't shoot them. You have to hit the hull to destroy the ship so it isn't tactical like Rogue Squad games where you can make the fight easier by taking out defenses. Shameful example of an IP being worn as a skin suit to push themes not considered a staple of the franchise.
Graphics 10/10 Gameplay 10/10 Get yourself some joysticks/throttle (I chose Gladiator NXT with Omni-throttle) on VR or Widescreen.. this game is hours of fun. The solo campaign for $5 alone is an insane deal. I look forward to playing multi-player once I get the hang of it.
Absolute masterpiece of a start that was immediately abandoned. Thinking about what could have been is devastating. Please make Squadrons 2 and support/iterate on it longer than 6 months. There is nothing else like this. You owned the field.
Game will at this time not launch, Multiplayer is dead, however, I wanted to play some VR storymode... Can't even launch the title. Don't buy
Lots of fun on the Quest 3, using an Xbox controller for flight control. Took me a while to figure out how to get it to start properly. Use a link cable to your pc and once you "enable link" in your Quest you can then open the Steam VR app. From the Steam VR menu you can open this game and it runs perfectly. The game crashes during the Victorum mission unless you set VR volumetric detail to low (thanks reddit). Story is okay and has some old-school Wing Commander game vibes to it which is nice. Would have been better to have two separate campaigns as New Republic and Empire rather than jumping between the two in the one campaign but that's okay. Quite fancied that imperial girl with the scar.
