I have had IL2 since the very first version came out, so I really should love it. However, the handling of the aircraft has just got worse and worse (it was never good). The planes seem to twitch and skid all over the sky, and constantly bump around...very unrealistic. Is it really too much to ask for a smooth flight model with precision control, just like the real aircraft? For reference, I am a qualified pilot and have flown piston trainers like the T-28 and P-2, and have flown in numerous warbirds (P-51, P-40 etc...) and none of them had the skittish flight characteristics of this game. Such a shame...
Its a good game. i bought it at full price (you shouldnt cus there is a sale almost every month), because i didnt want to spend 40 bucks on the BOS. Its good, ww2 and battle of britian themed. good physic, good sounds, friendly for beginners although i would buy it without a joystick. if you really like it you should consider buying the IL-2 GREAT BATTLES too. but good for spending 20 minutes of your free time. One more thing. Binding the keys for the controls is very easy but make sure to save it as a file too. FB
This game a nightmare . Every time I turn on the game to play using the Configs I saved on my thrustmaster 16000m for some reason does not save .. fed up absolute fed up 😠😠
I stopped playing IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 in 2008. As a result, I completely missed the game’s release, which was buggy upon release. In 2019, I returned to flying, bought this game, tried it out, and uninstalled it. I’m still waiting for the wing control surfaces to move smoothly, and I’m patiently awaiting VR support—which, according to promises, should have been here long ago—or the Dieppe DLC promised until recently for the end of 2024, which was two years ago. I do not recommend buying this game.
Right now this is my most favourite WWII flying sim! I Have flown in IL-2 Forgottenbattles 1946, IL-2 Bos now Box and Warthunder. Cliffs of Dover has a bit higher learning curve than other titles but it is the most realistic representation of WWII Aircombat that I have experienced. Flight and damage modes are much better than in other games. The overall immersion is stronger as well. Game got lot of negative critisism from its realy sloppy start back in the 2011. But in actual Blitz-fromat (Thank you Team fusion!) its a real gem! Better graphics and more stable. As a graphics goes you can see that its and older title BUT! Graphics look more realistic than the one in IL-2 BOS. Bos feel more cartoony. I never played DCS so I can compare it only from youtube videos. Their graphics are superrior to CLiffs of dover but not by much! Biggest big + for me is that you get full game with single purchase, no paywall hidden content you can fly all planes in the game day 1. If you buy their only DLC you get a second theather of war in north Africa wiht fully accesable roster, no collector planes needed! Biggest - is that the multiplayer base is realy low. 5-10 players on one server most of the time (Berlin Timezone), Now and then there are events where you can experience lot of players but those are rare. But the servers like TWC offer lot of singleplayer content as well. Escort mission, search and destroy missons, AI Bomber and fighter formations engagement mission even non combat transport missions. As I mentioned it has superior flyght and dmg models as well as interactive klickable cockpits, you don't have to bind all keycomannds. One/two time switches like fuel chocke, light gunsisght etc can be easily done with mouse. Its not just more immersive but in my Oppinion it a quality of life eperience as well as you dont have to remember every ctr +alt+ shift.... keybinding for rarely used stuff. Only thing that IL-2Bos has more realistic that Clod is breake system on british planes. You can customise your amunition belts not just gun convergence which is realy helpfull on british planes without cannons (not so historicaly accurate though, but you can always kee default which is, good luck :D ). AS AI goes, it is the best of all IL-2 games. You have the feeling its watching you when you follow the tail and in the moment when you line up your shot they brake. Its actualy not that easy to shoot them down and if you take too long they will line you up for a kill for their wingman. And rear gunners are pretty accurate as well so you have to plan your approach carefuly! I am not sure if they are infulenced by darkness as well. During one setion I shot down one BF 109 in a hurricane only to see other 4 or 5 rushing to his aid. It was very tiresome dodging and running deep into allied territory when the darkness came they lost interesst. I dont know if they simply lost a sight of me or they had to abort due to lack of fuel. But it felt real. Singleplayer offers quick missions where you start in air practicaly seconds before the merge. Single missions which are scripted and decently done. Campaign which has a few different story driven campaigns and that more complex ones added with blitz edition which remind more of singleplayer career in IL-46 and IL-2 Bos. Random generated missions for singleplayer career are sadly absent. I hope they add them in the future. Base game concentrates on Battle of britain 1940-1941. Blitz version expanded it with early war era from Invasion of France and DLC desert wings to North African battlefield. Next DLC is going to expand it to Normandy. Its the turndown for many players because it does not cover the whole war, but trust me. You will not be thinking about those how deep it hurls you in its actual setting. I flew it with Track IR 5 and thrustmaster 16 000 stick, throtle, pedalsand Xpadded app for complex keybinding options(but you dont need that for clod, its just for me so I have everything possible just on hotas), you have to fly a few times to feel the conrolls and set them right but its all the same in other games as well. Sadly for more demanding players it does not offer VR support yet. That is comming with the next DLC allong iwth 4k textures. My rig Gaming laptotp Rog strix: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 6800H with Radeon Graphics RAM: 16.0 GB GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU Connected to a Monitor: Acer XZ322QU S Resolution: 2560 x 1440 Refresh rate: 144 Hz Desktop color depth: Highest (32-bit) Game runs pretty stable for the fact that my 2k monitor is too much for my laptop. FPS are stable between 60-90 now and that ist stutters but its rare.
IL-2 Cliff's Of Dover Blitz, Is Most Accurate Battle Of Britain Combat Flight Simulator On The Market! EVER!!!!! MADE!!!! And I've Flown All! The Battle Of Britain Combat Sims! Plus It's DLC Desert Wings Tobruk Is AWESOME!!!!!!! The Only Downside Is The The Luftwaffe Aircraft, Don't Have The Swastika's On The Tail! However, That Being Said, It's Still The BEST!!!!!
Great game - one of the best. You have to give it some time to get your controls, key commands, and other such things dialed in. Best way is to join other pilots on one of the discord servers, voice servers, or similar. People are generally very helpful in encouraging and helping new pilots get up to speed and get things sorted out.
Masakryczne strowanie... Nie da się grać. Ustawienie joysticka praktycznie niemożliwe.
A very good WW2 Battle of Britain sim I would recomend it over Wings Over the REICH. Cliffs of Dover has so much going for it and the terrain is just great compaired the Wings Over the Reich where the terrain is bad Just look at Dover it dos not even have Dover castle and the shore line is like well not very good.
Стороны интересные: Великобритания, когда она была героем, а Германия, когда была плохой страной, и такое было. Историчность поражает.
