A remake so good, i bought it 3 times so those ♥♥♥♥♥ at Konami can create more :) The game constantly crashes when ray tracing is turned on, buyers beware. But still, that doesn't detract from the recommendation since ray tracing is ass anyway.

First of all, this game has such an oppressive atmosphere, they did such a great job with it. Terrifying all around, first playthrough got some screams out of me. Combat jank is here and there, as expected from a Silent Hill game. It is a highly replayable experience despite the game length, doubling the length of the original game. All endings reached, and it was a smooth experience! A good remake. Honours the original game, it treated the original counterpart with respect, as all things should be. Of course, there are flaws here and there, but the good things that come out of it outweigh the flaws. I recommend it.

Having never played the original back in the day, I went into this blind, looking forward to have some FUN. "I have had my good share of dark, oppresive games, I'm a tough guy, this will surely be something I'll enjoy". I had no idea what I was about to get myself into! I thought I was in for some cozy survival horror action like one gets in most Resident Evil games. WTF this is nothing like it! Reaching the end I got the "
In Water
"-version of the end for playing like
an aggressive ape and being all negative about everything all the time
. It all makes sense in the end and it hit me like a truck at full speed running me into a concrete wall. It's not a "fun" game, more like a complex artwork you have to appreciate. Full recommendation, but be warned, better don't be emotionally loaded like I was.

Azap for real
I'm crying while writing this review, but I really think that the best review is an emotional review. I first played the original Silent Hill 2 seven years ago and I wasn't the same anymore. There are a lot of things to say about it, but then and throughout all these seven years, I thought that nothing could beat this truly unique game. BUT BLOOBER TEAM SURPRISED ME. Probably, like everyone else, at first I was very biased towards the remake, because I was madly in love with the original game and its atmosphere, and nostalgia did not even give me the opportunity to think that something at least close to the same level would ever come out. It sounds stupid, but all crazy fans of something behave like that, and sh 2 is literally something sacred to me. You may not believe me and scold me, but I sincerely believe that Bloober Team was able to make this story even better, more dramatic and deeper. This remake was made by people who loved the original game as much as its most loyal fans. There is a great love for details, references and characters. Everything is done with such dedication to the original game and such meticulous improvements that do not seem superfluous at all, but on the contrary wrap this story in an even more delicious shell (please forgive me for such metaphors, but I really want to praise this game over and over again). Luke Roberts probably deserves special praise for bringing to life this version of James (my favorite version now tbh), a character burdened with his grief and deeds, literally drowning in everything around him. This story, the game, is a treasure trove for people who love good psychological horror, you will always be pressed by this atmosphere of loneliness and hopelessness, with an otherworldly soundtrack that only emphasizes it, rushing through foggy streets and apartments. James is always alone here, a hostage of the circumstances he created, and you will become a hostage of this weird world with him. In the remake I finally decided to go through with perhaps the most canonical ending for James, "In Water," and it broke me completely (in a good way, I promise, and I will definitely try to get all other endings and achievements). Thanks to Bloober Team for this incredible experience, for the opportunity to relive this story on some other level, to look at it from a slightly different angle. May both sides of your pillow always be cold!!!
