Kind of a disappointing follow up to the first game and Miles Morales. Gameplay takes one step forward and two steps back - played this on the hardest difficulty and never put much thought into how I approached combat encounters, just spammed my abilities and gadgets off cooldown. Buying suits in this game is now an afterthought, at least in the first game you got abilities with new suits now it's just nothing. Stealth is completely untouched from the previous games and is just kinda bad. The story is genuinely bad and a gigantic step down from the last game. Would only recommend buying on sale.
too many puzzles that you cant skip tbh i just want to play as spiderman and not do all these sloppy mini games
If you loved the first game and Miles Morales, you're going to have a blast with this, but it definitely suffers from some classic open-world bloat and rushed pacing. Now that the PC version has been out for over a year and Nixxes has squashed most of the launch-day performance bugs, here is my honest breakdown.
👊 THE GOOD: The Combat
The fighting mechanics got a massive, much-needed tune-up. They finally threw out the clunky gadget wheel from the first game and replaced it with four quick-mapped, high-impact slots, keeping the flow of battle incredibly fast and fluid. Playing as both Spider-Men actually feels distinct now:

Peter is a total brawler, using mechanical arms and chaotic Symbiote abilities that feel heavy, aggressive, and brutal.
Miles is all about wide crowd control, using upgraded bio-electric venom shocks to wipe out entire waves at once.
They also introduced a dedicated parry mechanic. Instead of just spamming the dodge button until your eyes bleed, you actually have to time your blocks against heavy attacks, making boss fights feel way more intense and rewarding.
🎭 THE AVERAGE: The Story
The story is where the game trips over its own web. The 2018 original had a beautifully tight, emotional narrative, but this sequel tries to juggle way too many massive plotlines at once—Harry's return, Kraven's hunt, Peter's dark Symbiote descent, and Venom. Because the main campaign is relatively short, the pacing goes completely off the rails in the second half. Miles gets sidelined for huge chunks of the core plot, making him feel like a sidekick in his own co-headlining game. While there are some absolutely wild, blockbuster movie set pieces, the emotional landing felt incredibly rushed and didn't hit nearly as hard as the original's ending. It's fine, just kind of messy.
🕸️ EVERYTHING ELSE (The Port, Map & Traversal)

Web Wings are peak: Traversal was already incredible, but gliding through city wind tunnels at Mach 5 completely redefines the game. Crossing the East River into the new Queens and Brooklyn neighborhoods takes literal seconds and feels amazing.
The PC Port Status: Nixxes has done a ton of heavy lifting since the rocky January 2025 launch. Early on, it was riddled with micro-stutters and heavy VRAM leaks. Thanks to a ton of stability patches (including a recent update to AMD FSR 4 and NVIDIA DLSS 4), it runs beautifully smooth now. Just be aware it still hogs your CPU if you turn on the heavy ray-tracing settings.
The Open World Checklists: The map is double the size of the first game, but it's filled with the exact same copy-paste side content. Clearing out hunter blinds and chasing random drones gets incredibly repetitive after a few hours.

💰 VERDICT: Recommended (But on a Sale)

TL;DR: It’s a phenomenal mechanical playground, but a narrative step down from the first game. Now that the bugs are mostly squashed, it's easily a "Very Positive" experience, but you shouldn't pay full price for a short, slightly compromised campaign. **Wait for a Steam sale** to get the best bang for your buck.
I would generally recommend this but only if you have a PS5 or a good computer. the game does still lag and freeze sometimes on my computer but not nearly as much as some people have been stating. if you're thinking about getting this game, you probably should but try and buy it on PS5 if you can because this port can be real ♥♥♥♥ sometimes. I don't have that luxury though, so I gotta settle with this
