Mafia II: Definitive Edition

A história é facilmente o maior destaque. A trajetória do protagonista, as amizades, os conflitos e a vida no crime conseguem prender bastante, com personagens marcantes e vários momentos muito bons ao longo da campanha. A jogabilidade pode parecer um pouco datada hoje, mas o jogo ainda é muito divertido e tem um ritmo que faz você querer continuar para descobrir o que vai acontecer. A ambientação também ajuda bastante, principalmente pelos carros, músicas e pela cidade em diferentes épocas. Meu principal problema é que, para uma edição definitiva, os gráficos poderiam ter recebido uma melhoria muito maior. Visualmente, ainda parece um jogo antigo com alguns retoques, e não uma versão realmente renovada. Mesmo assim, a história e os personagens compensam bastante, sendo uma experiência que vale muito a pena.

Outdated GTA wannabe. The gameplay is old and outdated but has its moments of fun. The gameplay would be forgivable if I had enjoyed the story, but the story was also bad and not as good as the first Mafia. The Mafia 1 remake is stunning visually compared to this game. This is because Mafia 1 was essentially a full remake compared to this low effort "remake". I have such an issue with the story because it is such a monumental downgrade compared to the first Mafia. In the first game Tommy has actual character development and is faced with the realities of the decisions he has made. It shows that he contemplates the murder of people and how it affects him. It also shows how he really opposes the killings of innocent people but he is in too deep to really do anything about it. When you compare the first game to the story of Mafia 2 you have Vito who just does whatever all of these other evil men tell him to do without any sort of character development or contemplation. He is just a brainless goon that shows no depth. The choices he makes and how the story progresses do not make sense to me at times. [spoiler] Vito vouches for Henry even though he was the whole reason he went to prison. It makes no damn sense for Vito to think he would be a good addition to the crew. Poor story writing where the main character is too stupid to realize this and turns out Henry is the rat, wow big surprise. [/spoiler]
