Abandonware, run from this, the story is horrible, only saving grace is the nostalgia behind it
HW 1/2 were some of my favorite games growing up and 3 builds on some of what made them so unique and great. The gameplay and strategy is fantastic. Where the game is unforgivable is the story and writing. The campaign of 1 was one of my most memorable gaming experiences. The mystic, sage like, ancient feeling grandiose presentation was amazing. This game felt like a bad YA novel, the mystic, sage like ancient civilizations felt like they were represented by teens with sloppy writing and over emotional acting. It completely killed my desire to even finish the game.
Horribly bad AI and ship pathfinding, orders you give simply auto-cancel 25% of the time and the 3D map is practically unusuable unlike previous iterations. Also the mission maps are super small and nothing more than just a backdrop most of the time, which lacks the feeling of expansiveness that the older titles had. I was thinking I could enjoy the gameplay and just skip the atrocious story cutscenes, but the gameplay itself is terrible, so nothing of value can be found here. Just play the older titles. I have already reached the penultimate mission and I can't be bothered to finish this garbage. Can't believe that there are people that were scammed into paying full price for this.
An absolute shell of a its former self. I regret backing this on Fig, back in like 2018-2019. You can follow the development timeline and see when the shift occurred where the game fell off a cliff, in terms of quality, direction, plot and script. You can also correlate that fall off with the decision to hire certain cancerous groups to get involved with the development of this game. Suffice it to say...Homeworld DEId. The plot is so childish, I couldn't even stomach it longer than I have. I tried to even just skip every bit of dialogue and just get to the gameplay and at every instance of gameplay, it turned into just a giant blob of terrible AI combat and a real lack of actual orders being followed that I issue to my units. Do not even buy this game on a 90% discount. It's not Homeworld, it's a game for the 'modern audience'
I really, REALLY want to like this game as a series fan since the original game, but it feels so far from what Homeworld was that I honestly dont think the devs understood what game it was they were trying to make. on top of that I have had so many end of mission crashes that I'm honestly so tired of running the same mission over and over just to end with a bug report submission form, for context, my PC is more than capable of playing it, for some reason it just runs like ♥♥♥♥ even on its best settings.
Go buy Homeworld Remastered, much better use of your money and time, this one is bad
I waited until this game was on deep discount, but I didn't wait long enough. Homeworld 3 is a major disappointment. The story is weak, rushed, and has almost no meaningful character development. The cutscenes are surprisingly bad, with stiff faces, hair that is frozen in water, poor emotional delivery, and visuals that feel far below what this series deserves. The in-game graphics are fine, but nothing special. Even maxed out, the game looks mediocre and does not capture the scale or atmosphere that made Homeworld great. The biggest issue is that it does not feel like Homeworld. The mystery, loneliness, desperation, and grand strategy are mostly gone. Even on sale, I cannot recommend it.
战役比我的鸡儿还短 单位比我的头发还少 人物比我的奶奶还丑 也就没啥游戏玩的了 在买来玩吧 巧克力味的屎 实在饿得不行了 就吃吧
It's just okay
Homeworld 3 was one of my most anticipated games. When it came out and the reception was average at best, I held off buying it for quite a while. Thanks to the summer sale I could buy it very cheap. So you can imagine that I had enough time to lower my expectations and even if the game sucked, I wouldn't be bothered by it too much. That being said, the game is average in the departments that made Homeworld unique. No longer you're part of a mythical race seeking it's way back home - you've become a Human Protagonist. No longer the writing is mysterious and philosophical - here's a generic sci-fi story you've read before a number of times. No longer you need to strategize your ship formation - mass Ion & Assault Frigates tear through everything on auto-aggressive mode. So why is this a positive rating? Well, it still reminded me of Homeworld. It reminded me why I love the series so much that I bought the remastered version again on Steam. The graphics are very impressive, being one of the best looking space RTS games ever. I sincerely liked the music as well, maybe it didn't hit on the same high notes as Homeworld 1 did, but I enjoyed it really much. Even if it was dumbed down, scaled back (level-wise), I still had fun with it, although as my first paragraph mentioned - the expectations were quite low. I'd say, it's worth a buy for $15 or lower. My hope is we'll see Homeworld 4 someday and the lessons learned with part 3 will show.
3/10 I hope every dev on this was blacklisted from the industry and works at MC donalds now. Edit: finished the campaign in 6 hours? youre telling me for a $79.99 game you only get a 6 hour campaign? idiots It was garbage and a slog EVEN for the $3 i paid, stupid design for most sytstems by the devs, real incompitence, there needs to be a speedup after battle so you can harvest faster, i spent 30 minutes harvesting resources after. also ships and groups never keep their layout, Or lead Vessle, OR formation OR Stance OR anything. You should be able to set proper formations selecting each lines and roles for each unit but its like the devs were to ♥♥♥♥ at devving and couldnt figure it out.. its like everything you've done is garbage after 5 minutes. really frustrating. garbage game 3/10 Story is garbage and over animated for no reason, skipped all cut scenes cause they make me want to throw up
