A deliciously cheesy story, which is refreshing given how serious most games have become. The nudity (which can be disabled) is just in the cutscenes, which is a bit disappointing. I just wanted to see something like a medusa character with some titties hangin in battle as modern games have become scared of anything sexual (gore and torture OK though...). The gameplay does drag, but I'd still recommend it over most of the other variations of the genre.
It's too grindy. I played on normal and I like that is was difficult, which begs the question that if I played enough, the difficulty would subside. I couldn't be entertained enough to get to that phase. I like the touch of nudity [more games in this genre need to make this bold trend], but it needed more purpose other than setting the atmosphere. Also, the body physics on the animations are really low grade - almost non-existent so I give it a D-. Also. the icons and text for bleed resistance % and such are tiny. Skills are diverse, but is there room for less repetition and more uniqueness of skills? So the UI is kind of clunky, the story is average. It has potential, but I just didn't have fun in the game. Yeah, this was a mess. The theme and art style I'm down with. Terrible writing, plots that don't make sense and the cheese are fine. The issue is the gameplay. The game boring, poorly balanced and very repetitive. You figure out one functional tactic and you can repeat the same moves for the rest of the game. There is nothing you can gain from trying out different characters or tactics. The enemies are very limited and continuously recycled. It's basically a cheap knock-off of Darkest Dungeon where you don't have the exploration mechanic and instead just fight the same battle four to eight times before proceeding to the next chapter.
Game not recommended. Gfx, Sfx and story wise you get what you expect. The gameplay is... well very simple and rudimentary, reminding me of games from the 80s... so actualy also what was to be expected. What I did not expect is that there is no balance. Already the first "expedition" and the first "two battles" are like as if you play for dozen of hours, it expect you to know your enemies and all your party members. It expect you to setup the proper fighting group in order to win. Something that is only possible when you play for some time. There is no tanking. The damage done, even on easy, is laughable compared to what NPCs do. There is no tanking, there is no healing (well you can heal, for like 1-4 HP while the enemies do constant 10-20 damage). The "ranks" mean nothing. From the first expedition and fight I expect to learn the ropes, instead I was thrown into something that felt like the middle of the campaign. It was no fun at all. Just 24min in and already hating it.
The longer I play, the harder it gets. ⢰⡟⣡⡟⣱⣿⡿⠡⢛⣋⣥⣴⣌⢿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣷⣌⠻⢿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿ ⠏⢼⡿⣰⡿⠿⠡⠿⠿⢯⣉⠿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣷⣶⣿⣦⣍⠻⢿⣿⣿⣿ ⣼⣷⢠⠀⠀⢠⣴⡖⠀⠀⠈⠻⣿⡿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣛⣯⣝⣻⣿⣶⣿⣿⣿ ⣿⡇⣿⡷⠂⠈⡉⠀⠀⠀⣠⣴⣾⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣍⡤⣤⣤⣤⡀⠀⠉⠛⠿ ⣿⢸⣿⡅⣠⣬⣥⣤⣴⣴⣿⣿⢿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣟⡭⡄⣀⣉⡀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⡟⣿⣿⢰⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣾⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣶⣦⣈⠀⠀⠀⢀⣶ ⡧⣿⡇⣼⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣶⣶⣾⣿ ⡇⣿⠃⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⠛⠛⢫⣿⣿⣻⣻⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⢿⣿ ⡇⣿⠘⡇⢻⣿⣿⣿⡆⠀⠀⠀⠀⠈⠉⠙⠻⠏⠛⠻⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣭⡾⢁ ⡇⣿⠀⠘⢿⣿⣿⣿⣧⢠⣤⠀⡤⢀⣠⣀⣀⠀⠀⣼⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⠟⣁⠉ ⣧⢻⠀⡄⠀⠹⣿⣿⣿⡸⣿⣾⡆⣿⣿⣿⠿⣡⣾⣿⣿⣿⣿⡿⠋⠐⢡⣶ ⣿⡘⠈⣷⠀⠀⠈⠻⣿⣷⣎⠐⠿⢟⣋⣤⣾⣿⣿⣿⡿⠟⣩⠖⢠⡬⠈⠀ ⣿⣧⠁⢻⡇⠀⠀⠀⠈⠻⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⠿⠟⠋⠁⢀⠈⢀⡴⠈⠁⠀⠀ ⠻⣿⣆⠘⣿⠀⠀⣀⡁⠀⠈⠙⠛⠋⠉⠀⠀⠀⠀⡀⠤⠚⠁⠄⣠
Hey, wait a second! You can't just create a Golan-Globus / Dino De Laurentiis / Robert E. Howard / Frank Frazetta production of a video game from my headcanon! I mean, ...not without my boundless gratitude.
Fun and easy to understand, exactly what I need after a full day of forced labour. There's somewhat of a cozy nostalgic feeling about it. not sure how to put it. but It something you don't see too often in games these days. Also, kudos to the dev for apparently making it solo with the help freelancers.
The Game is definitely like the movies its inspired by. A lighthearted story in a sword and sorcery setting with the good old double B,Barbarians and, well. You can guess it. Thus dont expect to much depth, its not as unforgiving or deep as Darkest Dungeon, and with this i would compare the Gameplay the most. But its fun from beginning to end and doesnt overstay its welcome. Like the movies its inspired by its the perfect thing when your in the mood for some swords, wenches and a near hyperborean world where you can slay some ape men but dont want to exert your brain too much. That doesnt mean there isnt a well thought out system behind it with skills and stuff like this tho. I have to say the voiceacting, music (even some metal riffs) and writing are pretty well done for such a small game. Overall here and there are some things the game could improve on,but it looks like the dev still is working on the game cause he also sees it. If your into Sword and sorcery and like turnbased combat you cant do anything wrong here. Would recommend getting it on a sale. Deathstalker meets Darkest Dungeon describes the Game best i think. We need more Sword and Sorcery Games !
Pros: -True Sword & Sorcery motif -Cool cut scenes -Fairly simple mechanics Cons: -Unending Grind -Feels like an idle game -Linear story With some caveats I'll recommend this game, largely because it is a true sword & sorcery experience, and surprisingly there are not a lot of these (i.e. fantasy is not sword and sorcery, most rpgs you play are fantasy and not sword and sorcery). It is more of a metal themed s&s game, but nothing wrong with that! The cut scenes are gorgeously presenting a cool, cinema style story (with some nice light adult elements for those that turn it on, gorgeously constructed of course) and the voice acting seemed nice too. However, onto the actual game-while its always true to the s&s genre, it is extremely grindy and overly difficult....and I'm sorry to say sort of boring after a while. You endlessly level up this or that, or unlock this or that, as in the idle genre, which becomes dull. If this team makes more s&s games, I'd really love to see some with more rpg elements, maybe some cyoa/multi-choice elements, and more character interaction. As it stands, I think hard core s&s fans will enjoy this, but I worry that it may not please everyone. Still, there's really nothing wrong with it, thus the much cavoted recommendation.
What a shame. I quite like the style and visual theme that the game has going for it, seeing as it is an obvious homage to things like conan and old sword and sorcery tales. The 3D models are ok for what it is and it even surprised me with some animated and voiced cutscenes (albeit simplistic). For an indie game that was a good surprise and I was hopeful. But what about the actual gameplay and meat of the game, which is what we're here for in the first place? Well... it is sad to say but it is mediocre at best. It is obviously molded after Darkest Dungeon, but much worse. Boring, uninteresting, repetitive are the keywords here. I picked hard and was just steam-rolling the 1st stage. The same enemy types over and over. With barely 1 hour and I was already bored to death. Not recommended in any way. But yeah it is a shame because the devs have their hearts in the right place and the chosen theme is good, but the gameplay is simply not worth it.
