I've seen some people hate on JA3 because it changed a lot from JA2 but after the first hour or so I've really come to appreciate the changes and quality of life improvements. I think this is a great addition to the series and love the references and jokes hidden all over the place. I wonder how many people laughed at Courage the dog? Lots of stuff like that. Everywhere.
Worthy sequel to JA2. I absolutely love this one.
There is certainly some jank here, which is pretty standard for a Jagged Alliance game. That said, it's some of the best squad based combat you'll find. The setting is great. Game runs well on the steam deck. Do yourself a favour and go to the workshop to install a few mods: Hit percentage, gun rebalance, better UI are al good for a start. I did install the cheat mod just so that I could respec on my first run so that I could try out different builds. Don't let the first few missions fool you, you'll get powerful quickly and it'll start to get more diverse and fun.
I'm having a ball with this game. Old Jagged Alliance (1) player.
Does’nt hold a candle to Jagged Alliance 2 (the again, what does?), but still the best attempt at making a successor to that classic till now. I enjoyed my time with it for what it was.
Что с серверами? Даже с впн не работает ничего
I really like tactical RPGs, but this one has too many frustrating quirks. I tried it again recently with co-op, thinking that it would make it more fun, but my partner gave up on it pretty quickly. Healing is confusing and seems almost pointless in battles. The controls are confusing... sometimes it shoots an enemy when I click on them. Other times I have to click on the body part popup. Sometimes I'm clicking and nothing happens. The map view and A.I.M. seem kind of interesting, but I always felt like they just got in the way. I might try this again sometime with mods and easier difficulty, just to see if I can get over that initial hump.
5/10 From someone, who played the original JA back in the day and love this genre in general: this game COULD have been great. Pro: - Great tactical combat - The bits of pieces of information you can gather, and side quests and tasks are really interesting, and gives the game real flavor - Liked the idea of the map and the strategic aspect of the game - Liked how you can do different tasks to make outposts weaker - Quite lot of different classes and skills - Day/night cycles and different weather conditions adds additional layer to tactics Meh: - Limited inventory space (there are characters who have 4 pieces of space only. REALLY?) - The whole item management in general: your characters have limited inventory space, so you need to leave stuff in stash of each map square. You left something important back at the other side of the map? Bad luck, you need to go back - Things not just "teleporting", they're arriving on boats. Hired a new merc? Need to wait a few days to arrive at a choosen port. Bought some ammunition? Need to wait a few days, and travel to the choosen port. Realistic, but not fun - The map is HUGE. I knew the first time I saw it that I won't be able to finish this game, as it felt like after 50-60 hours, I'll still be just at halfway there, with characters already maxed out Con: - I hate this "dynamic" map: enemies move around on the map, constantly making weapon/diamond runs, taking back squares, attacking cities/outposts, which is quite frustrating alone, but - You can move around the map REALLY slowly. Like, it could take HALF A DAY to move from one square to another, so you need to plan meticolously where you go next - The game is difficult. Even for a "veteran" like me, the game is really difficult even on the lowest settings. I've finally gave up at a "boss", who was ridicolously beefy and could kill my soldiers with one shot. Of course, I could just leave it there, as it was for some side quest, but it felt unfair TL;DR: great tactical game with "realistic" elements, which makes the game unfun. Also, really difficult
Тактическая мясорубка с разрушаемостью укрытий. Великолепная озвучка персонажей, много всякого из боевиков 90ых. Графоний приятен глазу. Есть технические и дизайнерские минусы, но в целом интересно играть.
