Hailed as one of the largest, longest and most meticulously detailed turn-based JRPG series of all time, this first chapter in the ongoing Trails saga sets the stage for what's quickly become Ys developer Nihon Falcom's most popular and best-selling franchise in their entire 30+ year history.

Trails in the Sky, Например, простые и в то же время невероятно трогательные композиции «Under the Moonlight» и «Disappearing Star». В двух словах: бессмертная классика.
~10/10~
This game is peak fiction. I know that term gets thrown around like a volleyball these days, but I really mean it. I played the remake of this game last year and it was my favorite game I played in 2025. Everything that I love about RPGs is in this game, and is done extremely well. The combat is fun and strategic without being too crazy, the characters are wonderful, the world and music are beautiful, and the sidequests are so fun that I went out of my way to do every single one that I could find. When I finished playing the remake on my PS5, I immediately came here and bought the original trilogy, and played through the game AGAIN on this version. It was a lot of fun bringing my experience with me and seeing what was different here. Now that I've beaten this version I'm playing the Second Chapter, because I'm so invested in the story I don't want to wait for the remake. And it's somehow even BETTER than the first game??? I haven't finished it yet, but the story and mechanics progress in very smooth and natural ways. I'm amazed by how good these games are. How did Falcom do this in the early 2000s? I cant wait to play the rest of this series. Long story short, if you like RPGs at all you should definitely play this game. I would recommend the remake since it improves upon everything in this already wonderful game, but this version is great too. Please check out Trails.
Это что, это для кого, это зачем? Я не понял!
乏味的战斗,完全通马桶的支线,儿戏一般的政治戏
I know the remake is out, and probably that is the "better" option... but I decided to go in a lower cost entry point to play the older version of Trails in the Sky. When I finished the first game, I had the hook to go play the second... but needed to take a breath and play something because I'm not sure I am ready to get sunk into the franchise. Story: You follow the tale of two Bracers Estelle and Joshua who are the children of the legendary bracer that is their father Cassius. The spoiler free version is you get to experience their journey as Junior Bracers on their quest to become Senior bracer and travel the world completing quests for the capital cities. Meet people and help them solve their problems along the way... yeah thats the Spoiler free version of an RPG that has like 10 games ahead of it... clearly nothing can possibly tie this game to the next. Graphics: This being that pseudo PSP-era 16-bit isometric adventure like Ys... Graphics are fine, story is told with static pictures and sets the scene without having to be upscale. I'm sure the remake would be better in this category, but this one will suffice. You won't be blown away, but its the solid 8/10 for the era of games. Gameplay: You accumulate strength in two ways, 1) Leveling up like a standard RPG 2) Accquiring gems (it has a fancy name but I'm lazy) and put them in these orbital things. Pre-determine path and chaining determines level/strength of magic and what elements you can combine/cast better spells. Games biggest weakness is in battle you either Move... or commit to an action and let the game "auto move" you into position. Free move is faster on the turn wheel, but sometimes you wish you had that control to attack from the other side. Hard mode default is challenging to be tactical, but you never feel you need to "grind" to get past that enemy. Just save often, hard encounters aren't really communicated until you've passed the point of no return. Game does have a turbo function, I didn't look if I can cancel some of the animations with two text based "push to advance" between rest of slide and accelerated text. No cutscene skips so if you need to rewatch something there is alot of turbo/mash text buttons. This game is a solid entry to why people like the Trails series, and I slept on this along time ago and am happy to finally get around to it. Solid 8.5/10... won't play the remake, but I definitely will keep this engine for the sequels. Game has "transfers" to the sequel and happy to admit default Steam folders will locate the data on New game start. Your milage may vary if you move them.
La super traduction française du Liberl News est disponible, et elle est très qualitative, sans IA, et c'est rare d'avoir des fans aussi impliqués et appliqués de nos jours. Le début de la meilleure série de JRPG de tous les temps.
This game has so much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ charm stuffed into it, from its character writing to its graphics. Watching Estelle's lil pigtails flop as you run across the map is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cute. Wonderful characters and storyline, I had an amazing time trekking across Liberl. The Orbment system was so much fun to play around with, no complaint on the combat that never gets old. Anyone who says it's complicated needs to learn to read. Incredible game overall. No notes. Excited to eventually get around to the Second Chapter!
Took me 12 years of real time from the date of purchase and first playing, and then about 30 or so hours of actual play on one save over the course of one week, to beat this game. A rock-solid game that, if you finish, will bait you unbelievably hard into getting the remaining two chapters. Buyer beware.
peak...
Completed it 3 times for all achievements. Cornelia chapters location and methods of obtaining is strange and not intuitive with same situation related to hidden quests (I look at you, Alba's quest in Bose).
