Factorio and Stellaris married and had this baby (= [strike]FrostPunk[/strike] SpacePunk Survival of the human race Resource and real estate management Logistics and problem solving Compelling story revealed through exploration logs. The learning curve will have you restarting the game or the chapter, perhaps several times.
A tough and varied Frostpunk-like taking place in outer space with a hint of Factorio. Addictive and fun, though difficult if you don’t follow any guides. I spent far too long in the first two chapters, resulting in having zero difficulty whatsoever in the last three chapters. It could use some balancing – perhaps a time limit for each chapter – and a little more variety in the types of resources and locations you find in each chapter. Once you realize you have infinite time, despite a trivial −1 stability penalty, it becomes easy. The game builds tension but does lose most of it given that resources are vastly abundant and challenges such as stability penalties and accidents are easy to overcome. There’s a lack of variety later in the game, and you find yourself waiting on 3× speed or, if you’re like me, constantly demolishing and re-building buildings, and having to wait a long time for it, so you can fit more stuff in each sector. The game also doesn’t do a great job of explaining everything and what you should be upgrading or unlocking first. Nevertheless, I had fun. If you enjoy games like Frostpunk and don’t mind a challenge (and perhaps looking up some tips and definitely failing your first run), you’ll probably like IXION.
Hard but fun!
This is Frostpunk in space. This was an incredible game. It was also an very difficult experience. I had to restart multiple times because I found myself entering a new chapter completely unprepared for the disaster that was awaiting me. This isn't a game where you can just reload a checkpoint when you die. You'll find out that for many hours you've been prioritizing the wrong things and now you lose hours of progress. Also for those that are starting out the first two chapters are far more difficult than the latter part of the game. So stick with it and you'll get to see the rest of the story.
Its the Frostpunk 2 of space colony games.
like it all
Holy crap, I could not recommend this game enough. It is frostpunk in space, far more story driven but far more diverse resource management. It leaves me wishing there was more of it quite often!
