I really don't understand why people don't like Nuka-World. It is honestly my favorite DLC for any game I've ever played. It's so much fun and has so much variety to it. I loved exploring the theme park and seeing the different themes to it. It had a cult living on the outskirts of the theme park that is inspired by Elron Hubbard, it has a Tarzan-inspired character living with the apes in Safari-land, it has multiple factions that you can join, tons of more quests, great gameplay, interesting characters, ect. I am at a loss to think how they could have made it better. I had so much fun with it. I've watched a few videos on Youtube saying why it's not a good DLC and couldn't have disagreed with them more. Anyway, I say give it a try at least. If you're skeptical, wait for a sale.
This DLC is best consumed as by itself, as a new game start. I did level 15 to 40 here, then wiped the slate clean and went to see Preston for the first time. That worked for me. Perhaps they should have set this up as a "100 years after the boom", let you play as John/Jane, then return with your main toon 100 years afterwards, claim the gear, based on your playthrough. That said, I did like playing and exploring the Nuka World zones, was a nice chunk of new content was fun.
This DLC is a DRAG
The story for this DLC is so bad it's genuinely hilarious. The writing for this game is bad but this is just next level bad. Terrible expansion.
Wasted potential.
This DLC is probably the worst Bethesda-made Fallout DLC. It kinda just epitomizes everything I have said for years that they do not understand what makes Fallout "Fallout". I think in hindsight this really does just feel like the testing grounds for their development of Fallout 76. Most all the enemies are just souped up versions of the enemies in the other games, as well as Nuka Cola themed robots so they could add more stuff to the Automatron DLC. So you're not getting much from the combat. It really is nice that they added a usable assault rifle with the AKM or whatever it's called in-game, however that's really about the only thing I find interesting about this DLC honestly. The story is the biggest low point. Without spoiling much: It's just some boring raider questline I couldn't care less about. They bring back the Hubologists; which for me is one of my most hated faction in Fallout 2, and really don't do much at all with them. I don't think they really capture the criticisms of Scientology with them at all. They just feel like another Bethesda-ized nothing faction they brought back just for nostalgia. Everything else about the world and quests are just boring fetch quests localized to one area of the map. Go in this building, kill things or talk to people, go into this building, kill things or talk to people, and it's the entire DLC in that front. All of these things you have to do to complete the DLC. It's just boring, and even more annoying is the bullet sponge enemies that tear up even the best armor in the game usually every fight. You can also add on that one of the endings causes the main game to be incredibly broken on some quests in ways that could be very confusing to some people, and the achievements being so tedious and boring to get; and I think it's the worst DLC they've put out as a result. This just feels like something like Automatron, but bigger instead of like Far Harbor where I feel like there's plenty to do and interesting characters. If Bethesda didn't boil the Raiders down to just these generic bad guys, I do think there's more they could've done. With these limitations, it's not hard to see why the main quest feels so empty and lacking.
A buggy mess, and a horrifyingly bad collection of Bethsoft collect-a-thon and fetch quests. The raiders don't ever give you respect or listen to you as "overboss". You have to raid the Commonwealth. I crashed and experienced game-breaking bugs during my survival mode playthrough many times (no mods), forcing reloads that cost up to an hour of progress each. Loudspeakers are noticeably louder than the rest of the audio. Way too loud. The whole park relies mostly on audio logs (with forced delivery) and text logs for the "narrative". Garbage DLC.
this is the best dlc there is so much to do
Fallout 4's Nuka-World DLC is one of the most boring expansions I've ever played, legit adds nothing of value to the game, and a waste of money. Get it on sale or move on to better games..
