The biggest downside of this game is that enemies can repair themselves infinitely after a few seconds, which means it's too hostile and annoying to stay on the surface and explore, other than just going for the testing grounds. This is such a disappointment considering that this game has a really stunning open world - one that you can't enjoy due to the constant threat of being attacked. The base game is short; doing all the main missions and testing grounds takes around 20 hours, and you'll have more resources and upgrades than you need before even doing them all. Combat is quite enjoyable at first but becomes easy and repetitive later in the game. The constant need to visit upgrade machines to buy ammo and sell useless stuff to free up inventory space is another chore to endure throughout the game.
kinda mid. I think it tries to do too much. It's like they took ideas from every big fps and threw them into one game. Nothing really feels focused or fleshed out. The story is somewhat predictable until a fake decision at the end. There's basically no good ending, but one sets it up for a sequel that could lead to a good end. The game gives you all these options but only one thing really works well: charged melee attacks. You cannot fight bosses with guns or powers. Powers are too weak and guns are weak and run out of ammo fast. So every bossfight just becomes a boring discount souls boss where you dodge until you melee them slowly to death. So if melee is the most viable combat, then is it at least good? Not really. There is no blocking or parrying, and dodging requires upgrades to be usable as well. Charging your melee also takes twice as long as it should. Exploring the overworld is a waste of time as there is nothing to find up there and anything you kill can be revived almost immediately by infinitely spawning repair bots. Devs completely ignored this criticism and left it alone. There is also an alert level mechanic that is poorly done. It pretends to have multiple levels, but functionally it's just everything spawning in and killing you, or just normal enemies spawns. I think it exists just because System Shock. As for the level design, you end up walking down your hallways until the game decides the door to the actual objective is locked and then you do dumb fetch quests to get keys to move on. Over and over. I was happy to be done by the end. The game technically functions and does what it's supposed to, but nothing is really done well.
No words needed: this game is MEGAFINE! Except for the product placement, the second DLC, and bugs, of course. If you've played it, you know it. If not, you absolutely should!
9/10. Atomic Heart is one of the few modern games that actually has its own identity. The combat is exceptional - fast, brutal, satisfying and constantly pushing you to adapt instead of mindlessly hiding behind cover. The story starts simple but gradually becomes surprisingly intriguing, with enough mysteries and philosophical undertones to keep you invested until the end. The DLCs are a must-have, by the way, if you want to uncover the mysteries hidden behind the story. What really carries the game, however, is its atmosphere. The Soviet retrofuturistic aesthetic is absolutely gorgeous and unlike anything else on the market. The world feels alive, coherent and genuinely fascinating to explore. At times the game is also unexpectedly funny, balancing its darker themes with absurd humor that actually lands. I also appreciated that the setting is not just visual decoration. Beneath the robots, technology and action there are interesting ideas about utopias, power, technological progress, collectivism, individualism and the broader contrast between Eastern and Western visions of society. It does not provide simple answers, which makes it all the more engaging. Stylish, memorable, unique and confident in its own vision. Atomic Heart is not perfect, but it is one of the most distinctive and entertaining games released in recent years. Looking forward to Atomic Heart 2 and perhaps even the upcoming "Cube" game conducted by Mundfish studio.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPf1_ToruPc A pretty cool shooter set in a retro-futuristic Soviet facility where the robots have gone rogue. The environment looks really neat and the story is actually quite interesting with some good twists. Gameplay-wise, it's a fun mix of shooting, melee, and using special glove abilities like freezing or lifting enemies.
I like it, its fun in its own way. Music is amazing, story is nice, combat is really good, puzzles are okay I guess. Would recommend.
Fun game, great characters, really interesting plot setting. If it is on a sale, buy it, it is also really well optimized.
It falls a bit short in terms of atmosphere with the DLCs, but overall it's a good game with a well-rounded, satisfying ending.
Peak. Fun combat. Its pretty. Its funny. Its got a compelling story. Collection and crafting is great. THE SOUNDTRACK >>> Some goonery. Just buy it.
Cool!!!!!
