50H Spielzeit lauf Speicherspielstand - jede Sekunde davon absolut genial.
Combat system molto divertente
It was good. I liked it. Good way for someone like me who missed out on the PS1 version to play this all these years later.
Very late in the DQ series... having tons of fun so far. The QoL improvements to classic JRPG is what classic JRPG needs, I would try more JRPG if it is all like this. Side unpopular opinion, I tried Japanese VO, but it did not hit the same as English VO.
yeah, so this is the easiest and the most packed with QOL features DQ games out there, so this game is for the ones who want a chill and easy going adventure DQ, but without any suffering... that being said... the game is great, really like it =)
A meat-and-potatoes JRPG in desperate search of sauce - 5/10 If you've never played a JRPG in your life, stay away from this game. This is not a great place to start. If you have played a JRPG before, this game is fairly serviceable as your next dose. It's pretty basic - roam around a map, fight monsters in a turn-based manner, develop your characters' equipment and job skills. Save the world while you're at it, why not. Nothing is wrong with the game, per se. There are even some nice quality of life improvements that are not given in the genre, such as monsters being shown on the map, fast travel, and mainly functional quest markers. That said, there is nothing here to elevate the game up and above the bare minimum of what is expected from JRPGs. Combat is repetitive with your usual different colored slimes and other recycled enemies. Other assets are heavily reused, too - they even use castle graphics for a ship, and you'll be listening to the same two-three songs for most of the game. Speaking of music, it's mainly film score-ish orchestral stuff without any memorable bangers. Really makes you appreciate Final Fantasy (FiFa) or Chrono Trigger more, with their blend of classical music, jazz, and rock. The story is highly predictable, with an even more predictable rug-pull about 3/4 through the game. Everything after the supposed climax just feels like a deliberate effort to make the game longer without any valid reason. The narrative is not really supported by the cookie-cutter characters whose voice acting is abysmal or non-existent. I never really liked the minigames in any version of FiFa, but the absence of side activities in Dragon Quest VII really shows their importance. This game is really reduced to walking from one combat to the other, and there really are no other game mechanics in the loop. It gets boring eventually. Despite all the gripes, it's still OK, though. To reiterate: don't expect a masterpiece of a JRPG or any variations of the theme. But, if you just need a fix of JRPG while waiting for the next FiFa remaster, Dragon Quest VII Reimagined isn't your worst choice.
