This game is astounding and I had an absolute blast playing it. After how horrible The Ancient Gods content was in Eternal this felt really refreshing to play. Revelations is also probably some of the best DOOM content ever. ♥♥♥♥ Microsoft for firing half of id Software that move was really, really ♥♥♥♥♥♥. I do 100% recommend this game though it's been the most fun I had in a while. Also the OST despite not being Mick Gordon is also really good and the team behind it did much better compared to what The Ancient Gods dlc's had so props there as well. I did miss Mick Gordon's touch but the music in this game is still phenomenal. ^^
Stop reading reviews and add this game to your library. While all the UE5 games are stuttering. Doom the Dark Ages engine blazes the framerates into oblivion.
The Dark Ages has better boss fights than Eternal. It traded the weakness system in Eternal for parry mechanics. It's different, not worse than the previous title the same way Doom: Eternal is different than Doom (2016).
MASTERPIECE!!! said noone at xbox
The base game was already boldly different and fantastic in many ways, including its underappreciated and stellar soundtrack. The DLC, however, is probably the best FPS content I’ve played in the last several years. Every single person who worked on it—from their gameplay designers to its art directors—exudes passion and talent. That makes it all the more unfortunate to learn that id Software, a veteran studio owned by Bethesda and Microsoft, saw a substantial number of employees laid off shortly before this content’s release. Play this game on Nightmare difficulty—or the highest difficulty you can comfortably manage—then dive into Revelations. Words cannot describe the focus and ecstasy you’ll feel when the game brings all of its mechanics together in its encounters, especially in the Master Arenas and endgame content. I rarely write reviews, but as someone who avidly plays single-player FPS games and is a masochist when it comes to difficulty, Revelations genuinely exceeds even the highs of its predecessor. If nothing else, play this game as a tribute to the immensely talented people who made it, so that their work does not go unnoticed.
RIP AND TEAR AND RIP Those ID Sofware devs who got layed off Bravo you will be rememberd by this Great game
