There’s one huge issue I have with this game — actually, it’s the only one. No game will ever compare to it again. I must say, I am a comfort gamer. I often only play the games I already know and love. It’s often hard for me to take the plunge and start one of the thousands of games in my Steam library, but oh my… what I have been missing out on. I never would have thought that anything could come even close to my heart like the Life is Strange series did. It even hurts my heart a little to admit that I like this game even more. The millions of options you have, where really EVERY decision you make matters, every character develops differently, and you become so intensely invested in the story — not even mentioning the graphics, which were way ahead of their time when the game was made. It is also one of the only games where I actually took a look at all the extras, which I would really recommend if you play this game. The making-of content just shows how much work the developers put into it and with how much passion they brought this genius masterpiece to life. And don’t even get me started on the brilliant concept of machines/androids almost being more human than actual humans. This game had it all: beautiful graphics, a captivating story, hard and thought-provoking decisions, tears of joy and pain on my keyboard, a real message, etc., etc. I really only leave reviews for games that hit me hard. This is one of them.

This is, without a doubt, the best story-driven game I have ever played. It is full of meaningful decisions, incredibly realistic scene direction, outstanding graphics, and a story that, with every passing day, feels closer to reality. It really feels like the world is slowly moving in this direction. I highly recommend playing this game and experiencing its amazing story, combined with a very smooth user interface that lets you play through cinematic scenes in a seamless and immersive way.
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep ?
Detroit : Become Human is an interactive narrative adventure game developed by Quantic Dream in 2018 for PS4 and then ported to a PC platform in [strike] 2038 [/strike] 2019 via EGS and then in 2020 for Steam. Some people will describe this game as an "interactive movie" and some will say that this is a "game with a heavy dose of interactive elements". Both are correct , i would say. It has more cutscenes and interactive elements than most modern games but it is still a GAME in it's core (more or less). Detroit : Become Human features a super complex story with A LOT of choices both big and small. Those choices will impact not only your story , not only the main characters but also a lot of supporting characters in this game. Every choice matters. They are like little bricks that'll build your narrative from the ground up. From start to finish. From the first scene to the last breath. I've never played a game with such a knotty story. That was quite an experience ! There are three main characters in the game : Kara , Connor & Marcus. Kara is a AX400 android model designed to cook , clean and look after children . Pretty much a housekeeper. She becomes a deviant (or not - the choice is yours) and a mother figure to a young Alice and protects her from her abusive father Todd. What difficulties will they have to endure along the way?Their journey can and will change their relationship forever. Connor is a RK800 model designed for police investigations and hunting down deviant androids. His ability in crime scene reconstruction will come in handy. He can stay a cold and methodical machine for an entire story or he can awaken in himself feelings that will confuse him. Where this path lead him ? Again , the choice is yours. We don't know what model Marcus is. But we do know that he is an advanced ptototype gifted as a caretaker to one of the most famous painters in Detroit by one of his rich tech friends. Marcus is very unique in his own way. He wants to learn more every day. His owner Karl treats him not like an android but like a human and a part of his family. Each character has their own path at first , but over time these paths begin to intersect on the way to an incredibly emotional , complex and tense finale. And as the game develops you see how brilliantly it was directed & written (for the most part). Themes of systemic oppression , civil rights , racism , unemloyment , AI impact and many more. This game was topical back when it was released , it's even more topical now & it'll remain topycal until , well , 2038 and beyond. We're in 2026 now and we're leaving at the very beginning of AI Era. AI is almost everywhere. It's not just a fancy word anymore. People use it & interact with it everyday. You can even marry (!!!) AI companion now ! Strange ? Crazy ? Sure. But it's slowly becoming our norm , our new reality for better or for worse. And when the year of 2038 comes , people will be able to choose not just their AI partner but a human-like android partner. Crazy ? Future ! Like i said before , the story is super complex , emotional and at times - epic. Throughout the game we only play as our main trio but we also meet on our way A LOT of supporting characters. Very colorful and important characters. Each main character has their own partner (or a couple) that will stay with them for the majority of the game. Your choices can also affect them greatly. They are not just some stand-ins. They are well written characters that can sympathize with you or be angry at you. Their decisions can also impact your choices throughout the game. Like someone said here - it's better to start this game as "blind" as possible. The game's story and it's characters will be a great surprise for you ! Graphically Detroit : Become Human can still kick some ass all these years later ! Clear textures , detailed backgrounds , awesome facial animations and movement - most of the times it feels like an episode of a modern TV show or something. Sure , there are some clunky parts here and there but overall it still holds up amazingly ! Very cinematic game ! It was also wonderful to see all these amazing actors and their acting on screen (smart decision to use motion and voice capture) : Valorie Curry , Bryan Dechart , Clancy Brown , Jesse Williams , Minka Kelly and the legendary Lance Henriksen. So well done ! And because you have such a talented cast , the voice acting is on another level as well ! Clancy Brown being one of the most prolific modern voice actors is leading the charge but others are not so far behind. Especially Bryan Dechart , who was a revelation for me. Not just the graphics or the story & characters made this game such an EXPERIENCE but also a wonderful soundtrack. Three different composers (Nima Fakhrara , Philip Sheppard & John Paesano) were hired to score the music for our android protagonists (Kara , Connor & Marcus). Conor's theme features a lot of synthesized & mechanical sounds which compliments his cold and methodical nature. Some of Nima's instruments were custom built ! Kara's theme features a more emotional and somber sound (beautiful cello work from Mr. Sheppard) which compliments her dark but emotional journey with Alice. Marcus theme features some of the most epic orchestral score in the game (master work from Mr. Paesano) which compliments his epic journey from almost nobody to a revolutionary leader and a hope for his people. From wonderful electronic work to a more dark but emotional pieces to an epic orchestral climaxes - this Score has it all. It's a journey per se ! In terms of negatives i don't have a lot but just a few annoying things. First of all , it's so annoying that you don't have the ability to scip cutscenes. I completely understand that this game is designed this way - you need to watch every cutscene to understand the plot and all that stuff. It is an interactive game after all. But it would be nice to add the ability to skip cutscenes after completing the first full playthrough , at least ,'cause if you want to watch every possible ending in every chapter you need to play A LOT & after some time , after hours and hours of playin' the same chapters all over again the whole process becomes , what feels like , an endless boring routine. Second of all , and it's a more personal take on my time with the game , you need to invest a lot more hours in this game if you want to complete it for a 100%. There are a lot of tedious backtracking , a lot of cross chapter choices (the choice in the first chapter will affect some choice in , let's say , chapter 15) and a lot of different possibilities. You unlocked all 48 achievements in this game ? How cute ! How about you open all of the nodes in every flowchart in every chapter in the game ? It took me another 100+ hours on top of around 20 hours for my 1st full playthrough. I'm not super proud of it but i did it. I liked the game enough so i decided to invest a lot more time in it. Would not recommend though ! Lastly , i wanna write some words about game's somewhat clunky performance sometimes. During my first playthrough i didn't encounter any bugs or crashes whatsoever. But during my subsequent playthroughs there were fps drops , multiple crashes & some problems in general. It wasn't that bad but i definitely noticed how the game's performance worsened for some reason. Wait ! I almost forgot to tell you about Detroit : Become Human BTS gallery ! It's GREAT ! It has concept art , all of the characters models & their variations , in-game magazines (you can read them during your playthrough or after you're done with the game) , soundtrack samples + neat info about game's talented composers , behind the scenes videos , interviews & even some short canon stories with secondary characters. Don't miss out ! P.S. AI is the new GOD ! Embrace it ! P.S.S. My 100th review ! What a milestone for me ! Let's GOOOOO !!!!!!!!!!!
Detroit: Become Human is honestly a wow experience and absolute masterpiece. The story, characters, music, atmosphere, branching choices, and the sheer number of ways events can unfold are all remarkable. It constantly makes you feel that your decisions matter. You do not simply watch Markus, Connor, and Kara go through the story: you carry the responsibility for what happens to them. The Revolution path in particular is incredibly tense. You have to make choices under pressure, decide whom to protect, lead groups of androids through a battlefield, and live with the consequences. When it works, it feels cinematic in the best possible way. The game creates moments that genuinely stay with you. But I have one very big warning: Do not play this game on PC, as I did; the PC port is seriously flawed. The controls, especially the QTEs, completely ruin the experience. I played on Casual difficulty, and still repeatedly lost many fights, particularly the final fight because the keyboard-and-mouse QTEs were not designed properly. The game expects you to react instantly to certian keys, sometimes while also performing mouse gestures, which requires tactile memory. In the final Markus fight, just one missed or delayed prompt can mean Markus is shot and the entire Revolution fails. After spending the whole game making emotional, strategic, meaningful choices, having the ending decided by an awkward keyboard QTE feels terrible. It is especially frustrating because this is not a game about mastering difficult combat mechanics. It is a story-driven interactive drama. The controls should support the tension, not become the main enemy. On a controller, I can imagine these sequences feeling natural. On keyboard and mouse, they feel like fighting the interface rather than fighting for the characters. So my verdict is sadly negative: this is a beautiful, powerful, emotionally intense game with some of the most memorable branching storytelling I have experienced, ruined in the PC port. The game deserves to be experienced properly, and the PC QTE controls can totally get in the way of that.
One of the best storytelling game I ever played. You become saviour, runner, decision maker, police, theif etc... 10/10 Game.
This game taken me more close to play choice based and multiple endings game this game was one of the best and for sure while playing this game you"ll be addicted i finished this game in just 2 days i"ll recommend to play this 10/10 game.
