It's less a long journey than one very long message. And somehow, the message feels important enough that you keep reading to the very last line.
I loved the Longest Journey. I even was enamoured with many of the choices made in Dreamfall, rushed though that game was. I rented an x-box and played Dreamfall through several times even while people pointed out the myriad of flaws the game had. Dreamfall Chapters however, was not a deserving end to a fantastic journey. It was a disappointing drag, that fought against it's technical limitations instead of working with them, and that had all the worst storytelling instincts of an auteur-creator running amok with their established lore without ever giving a second thought to people that gotten attached and invested over the years. For a story that has the concept of story at its heart, it feels more like someone running through a checklist, mistaking boring with atmospheric, bland with scenic and preachy with political. All of that frozen a very specific time capsule ideology that was already dated when the game was released. Sometimes the wait isn't worth it.
Do you enjoy pressing forward? How about seemingly endless cut scenes intertwined with loading screens? What about puzzles with the depth and complexity of... "click on the only interactable item in the room"? Oh, and of course games where you can comfortably set the controller down for ~15 minutes at a time and still progress the story? Well, this game is for you!! The game is some how worse than the second game in the series. The Longest Journey was a masterpiece - this is a piece.. of something. I did enjoy the voice acting, and the goals of the story, if not the telling of it. Let's stop the fascists! just, maybe make it a little more fun next time? This game did require timed inputs a few times, and let's be honest, that's not what any classic adventure game player wants.
Beautiful and colorful visuals, amazing voiceovers, but dissappointingly boring gameplay. As much as I wished to like the game, the dialogues were way too dragging and a lot of the puzzles just were not intuitive at all and did not make any common sense.
1st game was great, sequels were garbage
kickstarted this and i got to say No. don't bother playing it, it's not nearly as good as the previous game.
An amazing ending to a decades-in-the-makings trilogy that gives satisfying conclusions to beloved characters. It had a bit of a rocky start, but it blew me away by the end. 8/10

i never played the prequels this game functions like a bit like a point and click adventure converted to 3d world with 3º person pov, have played quite a few games focused on narrative and were the gameplay barely classifies as a videogame and some of them are my favorites of all my gaming experience, this is by far the worst, the story it's ok, it has some great characters, decently written and good world building, but man, the moment to moment gameplay is terrible and destroys the enjoyment of the good parts of the game, i think if the game was a 2d point and click game it would eliminate my frustrations with the gameplay. this is the type of game i wish there was a neutral approval on steam, definitely not worth at full price IMO, ok game for less than 10 bucks
If you like stories this game is great for that, fantasy, other worlds, different dimension it will be for you!
