About

"Half a century into the future, mankind's world is riven and in a state of great social, political, and economic strain. After the end of the horrific pandemic that haunted the early twenties, pharma corps became stronger than ever seen before. Medical research thrived and permitted a multitude of technical advancements, but healthcare prices skyrocketed, causing mass inflation and shifting the entire world's economy. As a result, cryptocurrencies grew in prevalence and eventually gained enough momentum to replace other monetary systems across the globe, but many were left destitute and with nothing. Greed, hatred, envy, and panic then fueled the fires of war day after day, leaving the world scarred and broken. The U.N. has fallen and the war on terror has failed. Civilization is slowly collapsing in on itself. Now, most people cannot afford their necessities. Society is fragmented and has all but dissolved back into a caste division. Crime is at an all-time high and poverty is the new norm. Each day that passes, exploitation of the Earth's resources continues, and pollution intensifies, making life even more unbearable. Humanity is in the darkest place of its entire existence... A dark place where you exist."

CRIMINALLY underrated RPG developer here!! Their games are absolute CRPG MADNESS!! Dream games, really, so deep and interesting and TONS of content for the money! Play all of them, they are all worth it, this one being no exception! And while I haven't played it a ton I will in the future for sure, and even just glancing at it it has SO many RPG features and cool stuff we love to see as bigtime CRPG fans! Keep up the great work Corrosive Studios! :)
This is a diamond in the rough. Evokes 16bit Shadowrun but with a style all its own. This is an impressive and ambitious entry into the retro rpg community and will most likely be up there with Fear and Hunger and Look Outside as modern tiny master works of the genre. Its early access still so if your're expecting no bugs maybe wait until release but I personally think its worth investing in a project from a single Dev (who has at least 4 other games released) with such a level of quality in their games. Keep up the fantastic work
This is the third title I've played by Corrosive Studios and I believe I found my favorite out of the bunch. The dystopian cyberpunk setting is reminisce of Shadowrun and that appeals to me. The only downfall is that after putting in my 12 hours, I've reached a point where I cannot continue forward with the main quest, as the game is still in early access. I'll be looking forward to additional content and hopefully the finished product.
Dev is cooking with this one, just needs more time
The game is in Early Access at the time of writing this, but for the price and amount of content it's a steal. Tremendous potential going forward, very excited for updates. Awesome survival and RPG mechanics, player-choice and freedom, and an immersive and gritty atmosphere really make this game something special. Highly recommend.
Neat little game, starts off strong and after the story cuts off, you're free to explore and get mugged by cops.
So this is a game I have followed, and participated in since it was available in early access. This is a real cyberpunk experience, very gritty, especially if you are relatively inexperienced in these things, as you will actually feel broke, as opposed to many other games where very quickly you will become a millionaire, yet act like you're not in cut scenes. Economy is one of the single hardest things to balance in any game, and this one has nailed it. Everything sells for a fraction of the price, and using expensive consumables hurts. Yet, you will actually use those healing items, unlike most games, you will actually feel you need to, and you will actually do it. Amazing, I know. Because I started by talking about the economy, because a good economy in a game is as rare as hen's teeth, but it's not actually what makes the game so very, very good. This game has the best, fairest combat I have ever seen in a game. Don't let the engine fool you. This is not rpgm combat. This is very very different. Anything you can do your enemies can do, and vice versa (there is an exception I'll get to later). Another thing if your character started with the stats, and background, and skills of an npc, they would opperate almost exactly the same (you get a small edge here and there) also you start with more stat points than almost any npc, or any npc, I'm not quite sure. When you get into a fight early on and you see you have three cybered up, geared up paramilitary types against you, it's time to run away. You will die. Even at low difficulties. Also if you don't learn the game, and pay attention, the game will not just become easier with levels. When you level up you do not gain hit-points automatically. You gain nothing automatically. Instead you three skill points that you can spend on abilities which improve your character in minor, but important ways. If you want more hp you will need to spend points on it. And that means you aren't increasing your to hit, or your evasion, or ranged evasion, or... or... I will say the leveling system is extremely satisfying, and no matter how far along in the game you are, when an opponent throws a molotov at you it is a problem. And that is something that can happen from day 1. The cyber-ware system is really great, and has a bit of body horror going on, and can make your character have some existential crysees, and it gets worse the more you put in. But, oh it is worth it, and very satisfying. Finally the one thing you can do, that your opponent's cannot: psychic powers. If you choose the psychic background You have access to psychic powers, and they are a hell of a lot of fun. Keep in mind that they are not "as intended." The developer put them in the game because people clamoured for them, but they are not part of the core vision. But they are a lot of fun. The game as of this review has about 20 hours of content, but the developer is actively developing. And the combat is fun enough that I actually enjoy grinding random encounters (while listening to audio-books). This is not the game I have played the most, but it is likely tied, or even my single favourite game, and I highly recommend it.
Chaos Chain is still being worked on and the dev takes feedback that just shows they wants to make a great game give it time but from what I have seen so far you will get sucked into this world fun is only way I can describe it.
Another glorious smash hit JRPG by Corrosive! Like early corrosive JRPGs such as Disgraced and Lawless Lands--Also big favorites for me--this is a highly immersive game with big vibe and mood, evocative writing, and thoughtfully challenging turn based action. I especially love the random travel encounters, and I don't just mean random combat encounters! You never know what you are going to get. You might overhear a stranger's annoying phone conversation, get accidentally delivered someone else's lunch by a malfunctioning delivery drone, or get slapped (literally) for something you didn't even do (I'd love to say more about this but I bite my spoilery tongue)! There is enough of this going on that I have not had the same random encounter twice in 11 hours of gameplay and numerous zone transitions. Another reviewer compared this to the old school Sega Genesis Shadowrun game--a classic favorite of mine--and I find the comparison to be apt! There seems to be procedurally random generated quest/job content, and in addition to being able to customize your gear, you can also modify your body with cyware and bioware (although you will begin to feel the existential weight of giving up your fleshly origins, both narratively and mechanically, as you push the limits of your flesh). You can even buy and customize drone minions, something I have not begun to do yet but am excited to try. Choose between and customize the gear kits of all kinds of cool little robotic companions! I am personally excited to try the spidery 'stalker' drone. I must also mention the elegantly implemented computer hacking system, which is just complex enough to be challenging and interesting without resulting in tedium or being *too* simple. My first character is a tech savvy sword-swinging loner-hacker. I suppose my next one will be some sort of gun toting psionic smartass. The game was made with a lot of replayability in mind, and like previous Corrosive JRPGs, I will definitely want to enjoy multiple playthroughs/builds. This game is not for the easily offended or the faint of heart! It elicits 90s-esque cyberpunk nostalgia, and in its dystopian setting, almost anything that can be demoralizing, wrong, or offensive IS, although in my opinion, it is all handled quite tastefully. Don't be surprised when some thug you have just stabbed says "♥♥♥♥ YOU," or when the women around you are subjected to the misogyny of barbaric NPCs, or when you take some drugs for a combat buff and become a wretched addict, lost a bit of might, and become encumbered. This game and its setting are not going to hold your hand! Finally, if you have any doubts as to the passion and dedication of the developer for this project, I want to mention their responsiveness, patience, and grace. After 11 hours of gameplay, I encountered one small annoying bug. I popped into the Corrosive discord using the handy in-game link, mentioned my problem, and even though it was first thing in the morning, I got immediate responses and help, and a patch to fix the bug being implemented with unbelievable expediency. This is an absolute must-play for fans of cyperpunk/shadowrun/dystopian sci-fi. Even if you don't normally dig JRPGs but you love turn based cyberpunk type games, you might love this. And if you are a fan of JRPGs, don't miss this game! It's SO cool.
