Sucks, but I've re-categorized this game in my Library to "not to be installed." I kept it installed with the anticipation that it's probably going to be updated with a meaningful amount of content since, you know, early access tends to involve a reasonable amount of iteration and implementation of 'rough' content before polish happens later. Unfortunately it's been a full year since any amount of actual content was added to the title... And I would qualify that content as 'extremely limited.' Judging by the other reviews, I'm not the only one who doesn't have bandwidth to forever monitor a game that's a solid 'maybe' as to whether or not it's ever going to receive more content and actually be complete. Ostranauts, a far more technical game headed by two indie devs, with far deeper systems, with way more content, has released 4 major updates and come out of Early Access in the same time it took the developers of Death Trash to issue 3 patches. Stardew Valley, developed by one person, went through its entire release cycle (start to finish) in the same amount of development time as this game. The same can be said about Grimshire, Species: Unknown, Casualties: Unknown, and many other titles that have far deeper systems, complexity, and interactive layers. The game has what I would call Stoneshard syndrome. Unique? Sure. But nobody in their right mind is going to sit around patiently waiting 15 years. I hope it releases one day, but I'm not going to keep waiting.
I see someone (probably a friend of the devs or a dev themselves) in the reviews saying "The development team is small and while that's no excuse, I'd like to point out that unlike most developers the man literally posts a dev log of what he does everyday and I mean everyday of the updates he's doing behind the scenes." It's been 5 years my man and there has been next to NOTHING. It took them 6 years to create what you see and 5 years more to create nothing. This is why I urge people not to buy early access games. This game and Fallen aces were 2 games that were completely abandoned. Dev's got their money and the consumer who tried to support them in early access got an incomplete product. Basically criminal.
This game is frankly never coming out, whats there is fun and delightfully well done but it ends at a screeching halt. Developers, while they are a tiny team of I think just two people, don't make any really meaningful additions and just release hotfixes every 3 months for bugs in the game. The roadmap may as well be useless since only 1 real addition to the story and gameplay has come out since EA release (mind you its 2026, this was unveiled at SGF'21) Just don't buy it until its done (high chance never)
This game is not dead... The reviews are lame. People are impatient. I don't understand this trend of giving a "bad" review based on how long a game takes to be developed. Devs do need to produce a general portion of their game before they publish or release it to the public as well. But I think this game even if not finished is still worth buying. Tell people to not buy a game because a dev is taking a long time to finish is kind of ignorant. The game is good, finished or not. There's even a demo if you don't want to buy it. I am sure the dev will finish this game. People have lives to live.
Honestly at this point, not even being mean, just say you don't want to finish the game. I'd rather you guys be truthful to your community rather than silent. It sucks because this game has so much potential, really hoping y'all pull it together someday.
Bought it the instant it launched because i loved the setting and art style. But the game's been in the development for like 11 years atp and still is a nothing burger. A shame that it will never be finished, specially because the devs are more worried about replying to people complaining about the slow development cycle, than finishing their fking game.
Dead game.
DEAD GAME NO CONTENT IN A YEAR
Been in early access since 2022.
Hyperbole aside, this is a hidden gem among a haystack of hidden gems. It's fantastic. The scenery, graphics, music, sounds, characters; all come together to create a world which you really feel part of. It's weird, its eldritchy sometimes, its full of flesh. The skill system is straightforward and meaningful, and you really feel the upgrades. The combat is extremely responsive and logical, there is a stealth ability and backstab, etc. You can craft lasers, you can upgrade your guns, you can do all sorts of cool stuff to optimize and modify your character and gear. The graphics are perfect for what it is. I am almost positive it's a solo dev and people keep harping on the fact that updates haven't been often. Thats most of the negative reviews, which is silly. Who cares. The game is fantastic as it is, and I love seeing the updates, regardless of how far apart they are. People have lives, this developer is truly a unique and special individual who deserves our support. I don't write reviews very often, there aren't that many games that deserve it. But this one is absolutely one of the best games I have ever played in my almost 40 years of life Buy this game.
