If you just mindlessly like slashing through hordes as guts this is for you, but the game just lacks passion. You're better off emulating the ps2 game I think that's the best Berserk game to play that makes you actually feel like Guts. Other than that if you just wanna play this to turn your brain off and do whatever go for it.
So, in a strange twist of fate, this game is actually kind of fun. I love Berserk more than most of my family members, and hate Dynasty Warriors about as much as I hate those same family members. "Dynasty Warriors, but Berserk" sounds like it would not be my thing at all but the animations and swings of most characters are a lot more weighty/purposeful than most DW games usually are and make the game feel a lot less mindless. Being able to play as so many different characters was an unexpected little surprise and to see they all have their own custom movesets, special abilities, and overall playstyles is a level of effort I was not expecting. The graphics are surprisingly great, the endless / free modes have way more detail than you'd expect and are genuinely pretty fun, and the game doesn't really have any crashing or major stutters. The only real weak point for me is that they just use the early 2010s movies as the "cutscenes" for this game, and I'm already not the biggest fan of these movies to begin with if I'm being honest. They serve their purpose, they move the storyline, but it's kind of a shame/wasted potential because the visuals Koei made here are genuinely kinda gorgeous at times and the cutscenes they *did* make look fantastic, making you wish the whole game had cutscenes crafted with in-engine graphics. I'd be lying if I said this is still my ideal Berserk game (a furi/SOTC boss rush style game during black swordsmen era Guts where he's going around stomping apostles still has yet to be delivered unto us), but it's by no means bad or even mediocre. It's at least good, and maybe even great depending on your tolerance for this formula.
Game is what it is, Got it on a Steam Sale. Be careful Streaming this on Youtube, Make sure to Skip Cut scenes as they will get your video/Stream blocked.
This game includes so much depth to the anime and it is the best adaptation we have seen yet.
How could I not recommend Berserk?? I can however point out the flaws in this game: 1. It is just a hack and slash. Using an Xbox controller, 95% of the buttons I use are mashing X and Y. 2. If you have not read the manga, you shouldn't play this. They left quite a bit out. I understand not including the Lost Children Arc, but why missing characters? Vargas, Azan, Luca and her girls, Sonia, Roderick, The Count's Human form, his daughter Theresia, and others. While you could say these characters are not super important, it's noticeable that they're missing. 3. The Grind. After or during the story, there is this thing called "Endless Eclipse" which is not *too* difficult, but it is tedious. 100 floors * 8 characters = 800 floors. And special missions for each character you have to do to get the achievements. 4. Adding to the Grind, the other characters suck. Especially Casca. Super disappointing, but the truth is they're just not fun to play. Zodd is fun on a horse, Wyald is okay in his Apostle form, the others are mid at best, and Casca does no damage and her best move can miss. SPOILER: After completing everything, you can unlock permanent Femto form and become the final boss. But this game makes the same mistake as many other games, which is: What's the point? Sure, Femto form and permanent Berserker armor is fun, but you already beat the game. Are you gonna just mindlessly destroy things to no end? That may sound fun to some, but not me.
i love u guts
как же хочется нормальную игру по вселенной Берсерка, а не подобный мусор, который интересен супер малой части
That thing was too big to be called a sword. Too big, too thick, too heavy, and too rough, it was more like a large hunk of iron.
