Huge indie game for its time, art direction is phenomenal, holds up very well today as well. Not an essential game, but good to add to the library for sure.
A trilha sonora é outro ponto forte.
Great game! I wanted to search more of Supergiant's games after the Hades 1 experience (2 is for later this year because it is rather long for my schedule right now) so i first tried Transistor for an hour which was beautiful but its combat was definitely not my cup of tea. Pyre seemed interesting as well but ended up being the same case with Transistor (even though i only watched clips for that but i know what i like by now as a gamer gameplay wise). Which brings us to Bastion. An action indie isometric game with a Kid for a protagonist trying to save and resurrect the land of Bastion from foes and friends alike. The concept is intriguing, the music gets your blood pumping, the art and visuals are gorgeous especially for a 2011 game and the action is fun and tight. The combat might seem clunky at first but once you get used to it and unlock all spirits and weapons it becomes an adrenaline ride. That adrenaline ride becomes even more intense when you try to play with idols activated (modifiers that dramatically affect the game's difficulty, offer more rewards, present a fair bit of challenge and constitute the best part of the game's replayability) - that and the multiple endings for the story. The game is also very cheap, runs very smooth and offers a lot of content (unless you're one of those people that only care for the campaign in which case i would say you only need 4-5 hours). One of the easiest recommendations ever!
I practically grew up with this game first played it on an Ipad been replaying it every year or so since then
I think this is one of those relic games of the past that people have high nostalgia for. I played Bastion about 15 years after the hype died. I didn't really care for it, but I can understand how this game led the way for other Supergiant games. It's a bit clunky but if you want to play through a piece of video game history, then I would buy this on sale.
Bastion feels like a mix of fast combat, pleasing visuals and a world that constantly builds itself as you keep progressing on your journey. The weapons feel great to use and swapping between different loadouts keeps every encounter interesting. The game’s narration is easily its standout feature — the way the narrator reacts to your actions adds personality to even the simplest moments. The characters are few but memorable, each adding a bit more weight to the story of the 'Calamity'. It’s a short experience, but it keeps you glued with its amazing atmosphere, music and gameplay. And so this is a stylish, fun action game that’s easy to enjoy and hard to forget. Difficulty to 100% - (4/5) You’ll need solid combat skills, upgraded weapons, and patience in order to complete most of the achievements. So it isn’t extremely difficult, but it is challenging in a very intentional.... skill-based way.
Bastion is one of those rare games that just feels special from the first few minutes. The narrator’s constant, reactive commentary is brilliant — it makes every run, every mistake, and every victory feel like part of an unfolding legend. The art style is gorgeous, the music is phenomenal (especially the songs), and the combat is super satisfying with deep weapon customization via the Forge. I played this years ago (first achievements popping in late 2011/early 2012) and put in enough time to finish the main story both ways (The End + The Beginning), do New Game+ (Calamity Kid), fully upgrade weapons, collect pets, complete a good chunk of vigils, and tackle the tough Shrine Idol challenges — including the full 10-idol runs on multiple dreams (Just Like That, Calamity All Around, Ashes in the Sky, About the Author, etc.). That stuff ramps up the difficulty significantly and forces you to master the systems. Pros: • Incredible atmosphere and storytelling • Fluid, fun combat with great variety in loadouts • The narrator (Rucks) is an all-time great • Short but dense — perfect length for what it is • New Game+ and Score Attack add replayability Cons (in 2026): • Controls and camera feel a bit dated now • Some platforming sections can frustrate • Once you’ve 100%‘d the dreams and upgrades, there’s not a ton left besides grinding Score Attack for the last achievements If you like action RPGs with strong narrative, excellent world-building, and a bit of challenge, this is a must-play. Supergiant knocked it out of the park with their debut. It’s aged gracefully thanks to its style and writing more than its mechanics. Playtime on my account: Enough for ~46% achievements (11/24) with the hard optional content done. Solid 15-25+ hour experience depending on how deep you go. Verdict: 9/10 — A true indie classic.
