About

Inheriting the classic strategic gameplay from the golden era of Japanese tactical RPGs, you will personally command diverse military units that were active on European battlefields in the 18th and 19th centuries, including line infantry, skirmishers, cavalry, and artillery. Master the rock-paper-scissors of unit type advantages, leverage terrain to your benefit, and adapt to dynamic environmental changes like rainstorms, heavy snow, fog, and night—conditions that can alter the fate of your entire army.

An era of revolution breeds heroes: talented and reliable generals, members of secret organizations serving the crown, and musicians with extraordinary gifts... The game features over 30 beautifully illustrated characters from diverse backgrounds. The unique anime-inspired art style creates a striking contrast with the rich historical setting.

Simultaneously, she must uncover the secrets of The Maid hidden deep within the city.

Short version. You can beat the game on the hardest difficulty with minimal grind if you play strategic. Story is nothing magical but it is kind of slow with the political schemed story. 7/10 Ignore the rabble. People are complaining about the difficulty, scaling, and grind. It is an RPG, playing on the hardest difficulty I have had to retry 2 missions. Yes you can spend countless hours leveling your people to make things super easier and that is an OPTION. If you are struggling because you put 8 people on 3 and then complain cause more show up as reinforcements...... do not go all in. Be strategic. Story does take some though to track because on the political themed storyline but it is good enough for me.
This is not a turn-based strategy game, but just a lame puzzle game. The map design does not allow for multiple strategies to win, but rather only allows one very specific way to play it to win. It gets worse the further you get in the game, because the difficulty spikes are huge, some maps feel like there is only 1 exact action sequence to victory. Practically this results in a lot of try and error to figure out the correct approach to a map, which is just tedious and not fun at all.
Do not buy this game. If you are enticed by the old school tactical RPG aesthetics, know that you will become frustrated almost immediately by instantaneous failure conditions that have only one real solution. Tactics and strategy are meaningless; you have no chance in certain missions aside from memorizing one particular pattern to avoid the death of mission critical units. You are encouraged to level up your main character by using her in combat, but in so doing you open her to being surrounded by an AI that knows it only needs to defeat her to win the battle. The omniscient enemy units will disengage your other units if she is in range to end the battle, which is nonsensical. Add to that missions where you must rescue other units or lose the mission, and this ceases to be a tactical war RPG. Imagine if having their officer killed in hedgerow country meant the American GIs would throw up their hands and say "Well, I'm out of ideas. They got us." This is an asinine mechanic that destroys an otherwise beautiful game. The game over screen cannot be skipped, either, so you'll be staring at that same slow scrolling image with the Game Over text fading in over and over again when you just want to reload your last save. As you can see, I only have 2 hours played, and I knew the pattern this would take after even such a short amount of time put into the game. Do not buy it.
The translation really is subpar. While you can maybe figure out what is meant by things, it is entirely impossible for a primarily English speaker to experience any form of depth or character connection given the frequently nonsensical word choice and grammar.
So anime Napoleon had a younger sister called Pauline Bonaparte who was also a very gifted military commander and fought in the French Revolution bearing the magic banner that once belonged to Jeanne D'Arc, which means that Banner of the Maid allows you to experience her adventures and meet all sorts of anime-fied historical figures in a turn-based strategy RPG in the style of Final Fantasy Tactics and similar games. The English translation has some issues, but nothing too terrible, and I ultimately had fun with it. It reminded me of stuff like Triangle Strategy and Sword of Convallaria. And you can usually get it really ship during a seasonal sale.
