If you have a CPU with more than like 6-8 cores then this game will not work. You'll either have to disable cores via the bios or use something like Process Lasso to actually properly launch the damn game. I do not have PL installed, I do not care to install the free version or pay for Pro monthly. Trying to launch the game via .bat with custom aff doesn't work either, I've tried. I also had to spam the launch button for like 10 minutes to even reach 5 minutes of "play time" so I could leave a review. Horrible developer for leaving this game up in this state, without proper warning that it is BROKEN on many modern machines.
This game doesn't even launch properly, why is it on Steam in a broken state?

I didn't give this game a bad review because of its quality, in-fact Toy Soldiers has been one of my favorite games of my early teens, but the game is in such a buggy state and it barely functions anymore. If you want to get into this series for the first time go buy Toy Soldiers: Complete as it contains both a remade version of this game and its sequel Cold War. PS DO NOT BUY TOY SOLDIERS HD, it sucks.
Sadly this game is simply broken. Honestly its amazing they're even selling it! The enemy infantry ai is completely broken! They just run in random directions shooting at nothing and flopping on the ground. They will eventually run off the map through the walls and terrain and become glitched out forcing you to wait until the game removes them which could take awhile.
Toy Soldiers is a classic of the ages (at least in my opinion). I remember hearing about it in an issue of Game Informer magazine from long ago. I always wanted to play it, but, never got a chance to (it was formerly an Xbox 360 exclusivity and was a downloadable digital title to boot) since I never had internet on my 360. But, I heard a lot of great things for it. Years later, while researching. I happen to heard the game was given a Steam release in 2012 years later, after it was on the Xbox 360. Playing it on computer it a blessing and the best part? All the DLC that used to be sold individually is on in one place with the Steam rerelease of this classic. To catch those up that are the uninitiated to this game (and general series) the game is a mixture between Action/RTS/Tower Defense (more on the latter than the former). The game is full of on your toes action not giving you a moment to breathe when you need it. It can be both frustrating and enjoyable for those looking for a good challenge. It takes a bit of experimentation on what defense you set up works best for the player. Also, the game lets you commandeer your placements AND vehicles throughout the games various stages (12 to be exact). The setting is more of a compact telling of the First World War and lets you get into the thick of it as either the English, The French or the Germans (The former is base game, the next one from the dlc "The Kaiser's Battle" and the latter is in Game Plus). Sadly, no Dough Boys/Yanks to play as (although, they are mentioned in the game). Regardless, it's a fun game where metal tin soldiers come to do battle in what feels like a cross between Night at the Museum meets Toy Story meets The Indian in the Cupboard (maybe over stretching the concept, but, play it and see for yourselves). Grab a copy and head into the trenches for a merry ole' time and bring some tea with you while you're at it! XD
Ich wollte es nach 10 Jahren mal wieder starten, läuft leider nicht mehr.
I had 0 issues booting this game up like I thought I would after what some have said. I got an error at 1st boot-up but didn't allow the old/outdated .NET Framework to install and it worked great when I tried to boot it up again which is good because: This game was a large part of my early adult life and it's awesome to get to play it again. I didn't even know they made a 2nd one until today and I'm for sure picking that up
Does not function properly on Windows 10 or 11. Game is entirely broken. A shame considering it used to be a fun one.
great game no multiplayer sadly if you do just want a fun single player game from your childhood this is it
