Forget getting this game unless your really know IT It will not play without a connection to ubisoft and will refuse any email address you give it to verify. total waste of time, no wonder it was on sale as reduced.
Can you explain to me why is this game 100GB??? Otherwise pretty solid city builder.
Ich will mein Spiel spielen, daswofür ih bezahlt habe? Keinen Ubisoft Account machen
Before I get into my review, know that my history with Anno games is very, very little to literally nothing: I have only played Pax Romana, which is the latest title in the series. I have had that and 1800 on my eye for a good while so I got the former earlier this year and I really liked the mechanics and how the gameplay feels, and since I love the aesthetics of the 19th Century/Victorian Age I thought 1800 would be a no brainer for me. Unfortunately, that isn't the case, at least not entirely. First off, I really love the aesthetics and atmosphere of the 19th Century/Victorian Age in video games, whether it be a game like Anno 1800 or a game from another game like Victoria 3 (Made by Paradox). And 1800 definitely delivers on that promise, from the overall look of the world to the design of the structures and how the logistics work (Like horses) to even the soundtrack. And for the gameplay and mechanics, I can only go off my very little experience with the Anno series but 1800 plays and feels very similar to Pax Romana, which I assume is similar to the other titles. This isn't a bad thing, the formula definitely works so why fix what isn't broken? And the formula definitely is a homerun for me, my only real issue is the controls. Why in 1800 do I need to use the "," and "." keys, for example? I think Pax Romana has it similar too but I could do so alternatively with the MMB (Middle mouse button), something not offered in 1800. Also doesn't help that 1800 doesn't have an active pause feature like Pax Romana does. Now I'm trying not to be too critical 1800, it did come out BEFORE Pax Romana by several years, after all. It is just that since I went with Pax Romana first kind of spoiled me on how the game works and 1800 didn't live up to it. And that unfortunately leads me to having to thumb down this game and get a refund which is real sad, I really did like everything else besides the controls. This game has gone on steeper sales previously to literally $4 instead of the $15 it is now during the summer sale, maybe I will get it again then.
