ABZÛ is a laid back underwater exploration and puzzle solving game. The mechanics are very simple and the puzzles lack complexity without being blatantly obvious, requiring basic observation and critical thinking skills to figure out. Exploration is rewarded with Silver Shells, collectibles that grant the diver a new diving suit. The visuals of the game are absolutely stunning. Every level is like entering a new biome, with entirely unique fish or aquatic creatures. Every area also has Hidden Pools that reward exploration by adding yet more creatures into the area to swim around with. The music is also wonderful and is perfectly suited to every set-piece. ABZÛ lacks any type of dialogue, but the narrative presented is still engaging and there are a lot of murals in the game that have interesting lore implications. ABZÛ is incredibly short. A full 100% playthrough would probably run 2.5 to 3 hours. There are are other things to do in the game after fully collecting every Silver Shell and Hidden Pool, such as Meditating on the shark statues and watching the creatures swim around, as well as ride around on some of them.

One of the better walking simulators out there, there aren't really any conditions for failure and the jetstream segments don't have much agency to them but the atmosphere is pristine. I love marine biology and this is a good showcase of how beautiful the ocean is, science-fantasy elements aside.

Absolutely beautiful game. If you're an aquatic ecosystems nerd like me, you will end up delighted with everything this game has to offer. You might feel a bit dizzy at first because of the motion blur, but not to the extent that you get sick. Loved everything, named my shark Bruce and had a peak experience. 100/10.
