There are good and bad things in that game, though this time it's definitely a thumb down at this point. Good : - Classic walking simulator. - Nice music at the end especially. - "Works". Bad : - "Works" as in lot of bugs that hinder your progression. - If you pause during the game, the pause overlay remains, forcing you to restart the game to get rid of it. - I got stuck numerous times because the events wouldn't lauch. In the island, I had the time to turn around the last island 3 times before the event to finally show up, allowing me to continue. - Two broken achievements (the gliph and the butterflies one), for the simple reason that your progress doesn't save, once you're done with an area it doesn't consider the gliph or the butterfly has being found (it's clearly visible on the area where you pick the zone you want to go, there is a gliph there which reset every time you get in the area). - Jumps are honestly horrible, there is no gravity and when you're using a "bumper" you can't even control where you go. - Controls are locked and once more the run key is on the left shift.. Which is honestly horrible, I had to use Key Manager to set the controls on ZQSD and run on my mouse. - There is an auto run, but 1. It doesn't work 2. cf. pause overlay problem. - The game is blinding at some point, especially towards the end where everything is white or have a huge white area. - The character model is really bad quality with a jagged cloak and weird face. I'm not speaking of how beautiful it could be, I'm aware it's probably a temporary one to test the game, but the texture of the cloak and its movement is a big contrast with the rest. Finally, what decided me to give a thumb down : The price is far too high, I got it in a bundle and wouldn't pay more than $2 for it in its current state. I really wonder how feel the people who helped this kickstarter seeing the Early Access result.
Pretty cute game, but I honestly wouldn't say it's worth £10+. This is another one of those instances where I wish Steam had a "mid" option, tbh. The good: - Beautiful Aesthetics - Beautiful OST Mid: - Not really much to the gameplay, it's basically just walk around and interact with stuff. Though I guess the positives make up for it (hence why I'm not putting this in negatives). The Bad: - After exiting out of settings and the pause menu during gameplay, it for some reason would not go away and had to reset the level, which kinda sucked. - The jump feels like something straight out of a cheap game, no offense. - I swear the resolution changes after starting the game up from the main menu (as in, it looked like 1280x720 on the mm, then changed to 1920x1080 for the gameplay). Text ended up going off-screen because of this, since I have a 1400x900 monitor (and there's not even an option for that resolution). - During the first part of the Petal Valley level, the camera loved to glitch on me during the cave sections. And seriously the lighting in that cave is god awful, please change it (make it so that the light at the end of the tunnel stays there, rather than fades away, or something). - No run button on controller afaik (using Xbox One controller), so had to switch to keyboard because there's one there. - In the second part of The Crimson Zone, there's a green flower. I jumped on top of this like an idiot and got softlocked, so had to reset (and since there's no "load game", I had to start again from the "tutorial level" (or whatever it is)). God, I hate being nitpicky when it comes to early access games, but it is what is. Think I'll leave playing anymore until the game gets updated. Again, not really worth the price point (at least in its current state). I want to like this game and recommend it, I really do, but I just can't right now. Maybe as time goes on (when glitches get fixed, etc) I'll start to like this game more and change this to recommended, we'll see (well, if I don't decide to refund by then). Just being honest here, no offense devs. Apologies if I sound a bit harsh here.

Beautiful aesthetic. Calm, peaceful visuals and sounds. I really like this game a lot and I have a couple of notable improvements to suggest. The overworld with the caves should be where you load in after you have finished the tutorial and come back into the game. The puzzle in the second part of the crimson world, with the invisible paths, needs to be implemented better. Either you should respawn back at the top if you fall off, or the paths need to be less difficult to fall off of. https://youtu.be/MQgyRkhApO8
Beyond The Underworld is an abandoned early access third person walking simulator/platformer/adventure game, with a heavy emphasis on plodding, slow, walking simulator activities as you walk through a glow-in-the-dark "esoteric" environment as a low poly wig on a low poly cape. The developers abandoned the game with no clear intention to finish it just two months after launching on Steam. This hasn't stopped them continuing to charge $6 USD for an incomplete and abandoned game. In an act of bad faith, the developers sold game keys in bulk to bundle sellers where they knew it would be sold as a complete game. This is a typical cash grab strategy that is taken just prior to the developer taking the money and running for the hills. No refunds were offered to anyone who had bought the game and been mislead by the developers commitment to complete it under Valve's Early Access program. It's understandable this was abandoned, however, the quality is terrible and there's no clear plot or meaning to the levels. The game engine is clunky and the camera stutters when traversing the badly made levels. It's impossible to recommend this. Edit: The developer has responded with a few points that support my review. They directly admit this contains flipped assets. The developer admits they didn't have the correct level of skill to make or finish a video game but published in Early Access anyway, in an act of bad faith. The developer admits that while this is abandoned, they are ignoring their commitment to complete the game and are unethically working on other projects while still trying to scam people out of money for this "game" that will never be finished. The developer seems surprised I didn't spend more than 6 minutes playing their unfinished garbage. It doesn't take long to identify garbage, I don't think it's reasonable to ask someone to spend a couple of hours in a garbage dump before making the determination that it's full of rubbish. These things are self-evident. It's inappropriate for the developer, after such grave admissions of bad faith and abuse of Steam Early access to demand people should play their broken, abandoned game for hours before warning people about it, when it only takes a few minutes to determine the truth. My review stands, supported by the revelation from the developer that they did in fact act in bad faith and have no intention of upholding their commitment to complete the game under Steam's Early Access program. For that reason, I still cannot recommend this game.
As a Kickstarter backer, I was excited to see the development and release of this game. After playing it, I'm happy to say it delivered, but there's still work that needs to be done. I'm also giving this review knowing full well that it is in Early Access mode, so I have faith that things can be worked on. Starting off with graphics, the overview is generally gorgeous. I would equate the experience of this game to viewing a lovely light show in a museum. Much of the game is screenshot and wallpaper-worthy as the colors and display really do stand out. However, when you start to really look into the depth, that's when you may feel a bit less enthusiastic. Many textures need to be worked on, the 2D to 3D ratio is slightly off-putting in some scenes, and I've seen some spastic flashy glitches in some areas. Sound is pretty similar to graphics. It sets a great atmosphere and there are just some moments where it is beautifully placed. I am very content with how the soundtrack evokes the feeling of peace and calmness. But again, the small things need to be fixed. Mainly, it's the cuts and transitions. The music tends to loop in a pretty inharmonious way as it just stops abruptly and will start again in a few seconds. Almost as if someone stopped a tape, rewound it and pressed play again. Gameplay is fairly simple. A bit of a walking simulator with very slight puzzle/collecting elements to it. You're mainly exploring and viewing the beautiful scenery as if you're along on a ride. My only complaint here is that it is a bit tough to navigate forward sometimes. Some things need to be triggered for you to continue on and it's not obvious how to trigger them. It doesn't get to a point of frustration, but you may be looking a bit longer than you would like. There's not much of a story to the game. You explore more about the areas around you and the life forms and visions around you do give slight context. Otherwise, nothing much to say on that end. My last point to make here is that the price can be a turn off for many given that the game may last you from 1-3 hours at most. If more content is to be added, that'd be great, but so far, it's not at that level yet. Overall, the game has a lot of promise. It was beautiful and a pleasant experience. With more work, I think a lot of people can come to this game to just relax and enjoy what it has to offer.
