Sinopsis

Hey. Sharing my Abzû walkthrough at https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL957yPFpIoy81GEjr9BceM0BnsHaunERE&si=00sVM-o2Q4JDfrt2 Summary: Abzû is an underwater exploration adventure game where we control a mysterious diver traveling through beautiful oceans filled with marine life, ancient ruins, and hidden secrets. Without dialogue or traditional combat, the game focuses on atmosphere, discovery, and emotional storytelling as the diver explores vibrant underwater ecosystems and restores life to damaged environments. Throughout the journey, we swim freely through coral reefs, deep trenches, and forgotten temples while interacting with schools of fish and solving light environmental puzzles. As the story progresses, we uncover traces of an ancient civilization and a technological force that disrupted the natural balance of the oceans. As per my experience, the game provided a relaxing gameplay with artistic visuals and emotional soundtrack with an immersive experience centered on nature, exploration, and restoration. Worth to try :)
Being an avid diver myself, I think this game perfectly encapsulates the magical serenity of the underwater environment. The music, the atmosphere, the interactions and the overall feel of Abzu is important, and I think this game does amazingly in that aspect. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to experience (Albeit fictionally) life underwater
An Experience Worthy of Sir David Attenborough
I simply cannot find the words to convey just how ethereal of an experience this game is to play. There is not a single line of dialogue to be found, no trace of a HUD and no grand quest to pursue. This game SHOWS you all you need from the off and continues to through immaculate environmental storytelling. You are simply here to enjoy the ride, and what a ride it is. Backed by incredibly paced symphonic heaven from Austin Wintory & the London Voice Choir, you are whirling through every sub biome of our gorgeous blue planet, optionally repopulating each habitat with fauna of incredible detail. All elements here are a 10 in quality. Pretentious as it may sound, I truly believe this game to be the closest 'call to the ocean' one could feel without physically being there. I am dead serious. Short and so, so sweet, this game is worth whatever price is available to you. Concluding my second playthrough after 8 years, I can only give this experience what it deserves. 10/10 fih
TL;DR - 8/10 - Recommended if you want to chill and relax while swimming with sea life in highly-stylized environments. Very light exploration. Very light hazards on one or two levels (that don't kill you). Very light emotional drama. Not a must play, but enjoyable enough. And now just a tiny bit more... IT'S AN EXPERIENCE GAME, NOT A GAMEPLAY GAME ABZÛ is one of those games that is designed to be a charming, artistic experience. That means the gameplay is pretty basic/practically non-existent. It is a walking simulator underwater, except in this one you're swimming most of the time. There is some very light exploration, there are some very light and mostly avoidable hazards in one level, and there is a light collect-a-thon if you're so inclined to go for those achievements, but mostly this game is all about having a charming experience swimming with sea life in highly-stylized environments. ENVIRONMENTS AND ATMOSPHERE This is where the game excels. The visuals are gorgeous, the music perfectly complements the visuals, and all the elements combine together to give you a dream-like experience loosely based on Babylonian mythology. It's designed to be an artistic piece and it shows. If you're looking to experience an art piece, you're in the right place. Again, though, if you're here for gameplay, you're SOL. STORY You play as a robot exploring underwater caves/structures. The story is entirely told through the visuals. You have to figure out what's going on and draw your own conclusions from what you see.
My conclusion was as follows... Not-Evil Robot Spawn of Evil teams up with Shark Jesus to take down Evil. Meanwhile, the polar bear king naps while his army of penguins practice doing absolutely nothing, just like in a real monarchy.
The story is okay. It borrows some beats from "Journey," which I liked a bit more than this. I didn't really feel any emotional connection to what was happening, though
even when Shark Jesus died, because I presumed he would be resurrected at some point, you know, because that's Shark Jesus' whole thing
. My reactions were pretty much, "that's cool", "that's a neat visual", or "okay, I'm bored now. Let's find the next area." GLITCHES No glitches. It ran fine on Windows 11. OVERALL It's a charming enough experience. It's good for chilling and relaxing while swimming with sea life, and there's a nice "meditation mode" if you just want to look at fish swimming around and eating each other in these environments. Not a must play, but if you're in the mood for a walking/swimming simulator art piece, you'll probably enjoy it. 8/10.
