Year Walk

First played on ios when it originally released. It still holds up. Some parts are a little tricky but the story, visuals, and soundtrack are all incredible. Wonderfully atmospheric and a perfect way to ring in the new year.

Year Walk is one of those rare games that lingers with you long after you've put it down — I went in knowing nothing about Swedish folklore and came out genuinely curious about Årsgång and the mythological creatures I encountered along the way. The atmosphere is the real star here: the pale, wintry art style and haunting soundtrack work together to create something that feels less like a game and more like wandering through a dark folk tale. A few of the puzzles had me reaching for hints, and the navigation can get confusing since many forest areas start to look alike, but the in-game encyclopedia helps ground you in the lore and actually becomes essential to the experience. I'll warn you like I wish someone had warned me: stick around after the credits and do a second playthrough — the story doesn't fully reveal itself until then, and that's when everything clicks into something genuinely unsettling. For around $6 and a couple hours of your time, it's an easy recommendation for anyone who appreciates atmospheric, story-driven games over pure action.

An aesthetic, fairytale-like horror puzzle game. The only con is that the storytelling is a bit unkind. Beautiful work.

Quite fun. Was a little obtuse but once I realized there was a map, it was mostly smooth sailing. Also a few puzzles kinda make you think outside the box in a way that wasn't intuitive. I may have never figured out the UN puzzle without giving in and looking it up. Worth a try though.
