Children of Silentown

This is a dark and cozy point and click adventure. While I couldn't wrap my mind around the gears puzzle and needed to watch a walkthrough for the answers, I really enjoyed the story, and I feel like its one of those games that really makes you think, and sits with you for a long time.

Children of Silentown is a great point-and-click adventure with a beautiful art style, fitting background music, and a unique, dark story. There was a good number of puzzles, and they weren't particularly difficult. I didn't notice any bugs.

I wanted to just thumbs this game down, but I'm required to also state why I dislike this game, no problem. The biggest issue s I have with this game are: 1. The puzzles are repeated constantly. You get the same annoying puzzles over and over with just a few changes to them just so they can say it's different. They rarely add any new mechanics to even make them more fun. In my 14 hours of playing the game so far, there were only four puzzles that were done over and over. There was a fifth one that involved filling water in basins, but at that point, I was done. I didn't feel any excitement seeing yet ANOTHER puzzle. I just wanted to get the story over and done with, 2. The story is also extremely slow. They drag things out with constant puzzles. You are not very fast. You are given no hints on what to do so things just grind to a halt for what feels like hours as you click on everything in the entire screen just to progress the story forward. 3) Some of the item combinations also just make no sense. How on earth do someone get it in their head that you should be able to catch fireflies by sticking cookies in a jar and then getting them wet with water to reduce them to sugar. I'm pretty sure that's not how that even works. 4. The girl you play as also isn't even likeable. She breaks things, lies, and just does whatever she wants. To be fair, almost everyone else is lying too. It's just a painful experience. 5. Your choices for the most part don't matter, unless you're trying to get achievements. Then you have to play the game multiple times because the game autosaves the instant you click on ANYTHING and there's no going back. The saddest part is that the game looks amazing. I would absolutely watch a movie in the art-style of this game. My biggest regret is that I looked out in the distance in this game and saw a beautiful field and valley that I haven't even had a chance to get into. I don't even know if you can. Save your money and just watch a let's play. I wouldn't even suggest buying this game on sale. I managed to get it under $2 and I still feel like it wasn't worth it.

The few things that struck me when I played this game: The Atmosphere The Music The Art The Theme The Story & Mystery While the gameplay isnt identically the same, the first game that came to mind was Deemo! This game is such a beautiful and hidden gem, the melancholic and somber vibes. The story telling and narrating. Point&Click and exploring this mysterious town. And simplistic yet insane (at times) difficulty of the puzzles! Highly Recommend to any of those that vibe on any of the mentioned above!

Whoever played this game Im sure almost all of us had to search up how to solve that one puzzle HOWEVER I would do that shi all over again just for the story and meaning alone, beautiful game truly worth my time <33

Le jeu est vraiment intéressant autant au niveau de l'histoire que de la DA. Finissable rapidement, il arrive a racconter une histoire profonde en tres peu de temps. Je recommande fort

i feel too autistic for a game like this. or something. idk. its not fun to be told what to do every step of the way but its also not fun to sit and struggle 40 years trying to figure out a puzzle. and figuring out this puzzle once, okay. but dont just rehash the same format and just a new solution for every puzzle. that feels,. lazy? like having a crossword in the paper every week. it gets boring. im not enjoying rehashing the same puzzle format every time and it seems like so precious little hints to figure out what to do next. and then i get frustrated cause i feel like i take two literal baby steps in the game and get hit with yet another rehashed puzzle i have to figure out to progress anything any further. and sometimes dropped into a new area and just no literal hint for what to do at all, i think i noticed the song button flashing to let me know to sing one time but more often than not i found myself frustrated with this game than enjoying any of it.
