I feel like I over use the word, "atmosphere," when I talk about games I like . . . but what do you want me to do, Year Walk has incredible atmosphere. Eerie and unsettling, but also somber. Almost feels sad somehow. And even after 6 hours and multiple playthroughs, I still haven't unraveled all of its mysteries.
+graphics +atmosphere +music -bad gameplay (too much of a walking slideshow to see if something changed) -obtuse puzzles -terrible achievements I wish you could actually move around in 3D like a walking sim but can't fault an old mobile port though. If it wasn't for the post game content with the real ending I would've given this a thumbs down but it makes up for it. The journal pages should've been tightened and be a collectible in the main game.
This game really frustrated me. They clearly care a lot about the source material but the actual gameplay felt very much like just scrolling around randomly until you notice something has changed. Solve a simple puzzle of some kind and then get jump-scared. I think part of the issue is that many of the interactions are really unintuitive and it's really easy to miss things. I had one case where, even after checking a walk-through, I still couldn't figure out what the interaction was supposed to be. I gave up because I was spending more time wondering why things had been implemented the way they had rather than playing the actual game. :/
It has some effective moments, but the gameplay is fairly tedious. There's a lot of wandering around.
An aesthetic, fairytale-like horror puzzle game. The only con is that the storytelling is a bit unkind. Beautiful work.
It's alright, kinda short but decent gaming experience, If you enjoy adventure-puzzle games, you might enjoy this one too. Also Swedish stuff and so on, nice...
神!!!!!!!!!!!!
First played on ios when it originally released. It still holds up. Some parts are a little tricky but the story, visuals, and soundtrack are all incredible. Wonderfully atmospheric and a perfect way to ring in the new year.
