About
Worlds Upon the Wind is a peaceful roguelite deckbuilder about rebuilding a shattered civilization after the apocalypse. Shape forests, deserts, and ruins through careful planning and resourcefulness, rather than conflict. Guide settlers across drifting world shards, nurturing new communities and weaving new traditions as you restore life to forgotten lands. Embark on a journey of restoration and community in this tactical game for those who prefer to take their time and weigh their choices.

Assemble your deck from hundreds of powerful Glyphs and unique Relics, each offering new strategic possibilities. Use glyphs to transform the environment and manipulate your chances with powerful invocations. Craft glyphs, balance your deck, and develop unique builds to adapt to the ever-changing landscape and challenges.

Face hundreds of dilemmas with no right answers. Keep wildlife at a distance or invite them into your cities? Preserve violent artwork or destroy it? Sacrifice safety for dangerous alchemical experiments, or seek harmony at the cost of productivity? Choices shape the outcome of your expeditions, as well as the contents of your deck.

Explore procedurally-generated world shards filled with different biomes, events, challenges, and opportunities. Every choice shapes the fate of your settlers and grants new glyphs and relics to transform your deck. Every run offers unique gameplay opportunities and insights that unlock new skills for future runs. And every budding community you establish leaves a mark, no matter how small.

Pacify restless spirits haunting the world shards, and befriend 15 unique animal companions through their own questlines, each offering a game-changing ability to help in future runs.

Immerse yourself in a unique visual style that traces the evolution of Japanese art from ancient picture scrolls to the different styles of Japanese woodblock prints. Serene landscapes, gentle music, and classical hand-painted scenes invite you to reflect and savor each moment as you're planning your next move.

If you're learning Japanese, this game offers completely optional kanji learning minigames with thousands of vocabulary and example sentences to complete, deeply integrated into the game, as well as options to display titles in kanji or kana, with dictionary tooltips.

This is a fun game, that I wouldn't typically pick up, but spent all afternoon playing it since purchasing it. I'm not usually into rogue-lite style games as they normally feel repetitive and I get a little bored after a while, but this had enough difference in each play through that it felt like a new game each time. It is a bit tricky to understand the game mechanics at first and I think it would have benefitted from a little more explanation or some more tutorial style sessions but once you get the hang of it, it's fairly addictive. Though I'm still not entirely sure I know all the nuances of the game, after playing for about 4 hours so far. (But this could be a me problem!) Overall, this is a fun and unique game with peaceful, calming music and beautiful art and storyline, that is definitely worth the price (especially on discount).
I don't game a lot, but when I do, I play Worlds upon the Wind

Excellent game
Really unique deck builder. Relaxing, slow paced, with fantastic art and theming/story.
I really enjoyed this game. I am not huge on puzzle games, but I enjoyed this. Helped me get through a fever with it's relaxing gameplay. I would say this is for people who enjoy games with meta currencies (it's how the story progresses, I would argue it's done well). Not quite a city builder, but probably entertaining to city builders as it does have a form of resource management.
A beautiful game - I am slightly nervous about how enduring it will be but, at 12 hours in, it's great with tons of ongoing replayability and new mechanisms emerging. It took me a while to work out some of the features, but there was no rush and plenty else to get on with.
Relaxed puzzle game with beautiful art.
Unique hybrid of a deck builder and map exploration. You will be challenged.
This game does a lot of things and combines them very well. It starts off slowly and introduces new items and challenges gradually, layering them as you move deeper into the world. There's not really any violence which I think is great, and really shares a unique philosophy to guide your decisions. You can play in all sorts of ways but there are rewards for taking untraditional routes. Despite having nearly 30 hours in the game I have no idea how many new systems or challenges will be introduced. Based on a log of various goals, I'm maybe 1/4 of the way through? But if the goals are mostly optional, I could be like one run away from the final stage. There's still a lot of space for me to advance on the tech tree so I figure I'm about halfway. I really appreciate the deckbuilding aspect of the game, your starter deck is adjustable but fairly tame, and new and more powerful cards drop in your hand quickly - especially as you advance the tech tree. There are entirely optional minigames to learn the strokes of the kanji featured in this game. There's no need to know any of them, but it would be a great tool for learning a few hundred kanji if that's your thing. I really would have loved to have this tool in my second year high school Japanese class. Also the game is beautiful and runs super smooth and fast, but that seems obvious.
