About
Worlds Upon the Wind is a peaceful roguelite deckbuilder about rebuilding a shattered civilization after the apocalypse. Shape forests, deserts, and ruins through careful planning and resourcefulness, rather than conflict. Guide settlers across drifting world shards, nurturing new communities and weaving new traditions as you restore life to forgotten lands. Embark on a journey of restoration and community in this tactical game for those who prefer to take their time and weigh their choices.

Assemble your deck from hundreds of powerful Glyphs and unique Relics, each offering new strategic possibilities. Use glyphs to transform the environment and manipulate your chances with powerful invocations. Craft glyphs, balance your deck, and develop unique builds to adapt to the ever-changing landscape and challenges.

Face hundreds of dilemmas with no right answers. Keep wildlife at a distance or invite them into your cities? Preserve violent artwork or destroy it? Sacrifice safety for dangerous alchemical experiments, or seek harmony at the cost of productivity? Choices shape the outcome of your expeditions, as well as the contents of your deck.

Explore procedurally-generated world shards filled with different biomes, events, challenges, and opportunities. Every choice shapes the fate of your settlers and grants new glyphs and relics to transform your deck. Every run offers unique gameplay opportunities and insights that unlock new skills for future runs. And every budding community you establish leaves a mark, no matter how small.

Pacify restless spirits haunting the world shards, and befriend 15 unique animal companions through their own questlines, each offering a game-changing ability to help in future runs.

Immerse yourself in a unique visual style that traces the evolution of Japanese art from ancient picture scrolls to the different styles of Japanese woodblock prints. Serene landscapes, gentle music, and classical hand-painted scenes invite you to reflect and savor each moment as you're planning your next move.

I enjoy the art, I enjoy the music, and most of all I enjoy the relaxing vibes. Unlike most other roguelike deckbuilders, this game is not about violence, but about building up civilization. The only downside is that the game sometimes gets a little laggy on my computer.
What a fascinating game. Sure it's a deckbuilder, but it's so chill. The gorgeous Japanese art and style is such a big part of the vibes. There's lots of meta progression to unlock, and I haven't seen a truly "broken" run yet, but what a fascinating game with lots of strategic considerations. Won't appeal to everyone who likes deckbuilders I think, but damn, its a clever experience.

Great art, fun storyline, relaxed gameplay with plenty of choices to make. It may take a while to build up your ability to get glyphs, enjoy the journey!
Really solid gameplay overall. Nothing to whine about. Easy recommendation!
An incredible game in so many ways. Chill, fun, difficult, interesting, rewarding. One of the best games I have played all year
Very interesting deckbuilder. It reminds me a lot of King of Dragon Pass.
I got a solid 35ish hours in the game before i reached the "ending" (havnt actually done it, but the game has a warning before you choose the option) and theres still lots of replay value left. For a price of half a movie ticked and atleast 10 times the time spent playing its a great value game. The art is beatiful with lovely music i can listen to on repeat. The mechanics and progression come at a very nice pace and you can always check "the museum" if theres certain event or option you need in game and it show you exactly how to find it once youve discovered it once. The one small critique i could offer is the fact that some of the mechanics change name about halfway through the game which was a bit confusing at first and i think could potentionally "softlock" you out of some content (but not game progression). There have been some nice and quick patching even in just the first week since release, and even some more content added so theres definately a chance for more content in the future aswell. Also, all art comes with a source to the origional and a note of all changes (cropped, moved elements and so on) which is such a nice thing to see in the age of AI slop.
Gripping.
First and foremost, the artistic style and approach is beautiful. A lot of thoughtfulness and consideration went into selecting the art pieces. Definitely a bonus for Japanese history and art fans. Next, it's both a casual and complex game at the same time. There's a nice balance for everyone. This game can both be simple and/or complicated at the same time depending on how you want to play that day. What does this mean? This game is perfect for when there's only 10-20 minutes of downtime to play something quick. Likewise, this game can also become a "one more turn" time machine when you realize there's a sunrise outside your window if you even managed to take your eyes off the screen! The gameplay is straightforward. You play your cards to build developments. It fits many play styles. Sometimes it's ideal to keep it simple. Other times, you can take it to the extreme with clockwork precision planning. The pacing and progression is well-thought out and there's lot's of replayability. Besides the many quests, there are so many unique buildings, landscapes, characters, cards, yokai (spirits), and animals to collect. I know I must have missed something...there's just so much to explore. And choices can matter. For some of the storied events, critical thinking and careful reading is necessary to make the best choices depending on each playthrough. Encountering the same event does not mean you should make the same choice every time. Casually, play it as a game. The extreme approach? It's like a multiple choice exam in a Sociology in Japanese History course.
this game is beautiful, I am loving everything about it. The music is relaxing, the metaprogression feels meaningful to gameplay, the story is engaging, and the overall gameplay loop is excellent. The fact they have managed to integrate language learning into all of that is remarkable. it is a game first and a language tool very much second but I do see how it will help with kanji recognition in particular. Worth every cent, well done to the dev team.
