Wait - Extended

This is Cthulhian mythos horror done right. Definitely worth playing to 100% completion. This game is worth every penny if you love the slow burn of a Lovecraftian style mystery that will linger in your mind for a while. *Emphatic encouragement of Cthulhian spooks done right!!* Plus, the soundtrack is great for giving the spooks in your own day to day situations. RPGs? Check. Board Games? Check. Halloween? Check. Romantic Dinner for two? Double check!! :D Bonus note: the Devs are still paying attention to the discussions, so if you have a problem, they at least are still around to help, even while they have new stuff in the works. I got stuck and wasn't sure why and they helped me out without giving away the puzzles, so good on them. I am looking forward to their next game, The Quest Giver, in the hopes that it will satisfy my budding inner GM. ***Kinda SPOILER-y soooo, don't read if you don't want to know.*** And in case anyone thinks this is empty praise, I will point out it's "flaws" (which aren't really flaws but things you may not expect.) -This game is relatively short. (There are several "levels", so don't stop the first time you hit an end screen). It's not annoyingly short and does have some replayability to it (but after you have 100% that replay might be a few years down the road), but it isn't a 30+ hours of action kinda game. I liked that about it. It stuck to it's story, kept it simple, and didn't feel the need to over do it. -If you aren't paying attention, you can skip the nuanced changes in each invocation. This adds to the ambiance so do NOT skip dialogues/inner dialogues until you've played the whole game at least once. (You'll know when you get to the actual ending.) -The actual terrifying "I don't want to go into the next room. I'm about to cry and shut off the game" level of horror (that I absolutely had during the 1st invocation) doesn't last the entire game, but Lovecraftian horror doesn't usually work like this anyways. It's more of a slow burning, nagging curiousity that makes you want to go back and stare even longer into the abyss even if you know you could die, which this game gets down like a BOSS. So even though it is inspired by Silent Hill, it is not FNAF levels of constant fear and tension (which if you are expecting this, you will be let down). But like I said earlier, it IS the lingering Cthulhian kind of unsettling that you want from a Lovecraft-horror game done RIGHT. Cannot stress that enough. :D

I strongly advise any prejudice you may have against rpg maker games to be set aside, when considering purchasing this game the story it weaves is top class and had me always guessing and eager to unrevil all the mysterys which only got more complex and intriguing as you progress. 9/10 for me the only cons really are that some of the puzzles and side missions are pretty obscure to trigger/complete if not looking at a guide.

[h1]Wait Extended[/h1] This review was last edited after completing one play through of the game [h1]Short Review[/h1] An excellent little gem of a game with minimal game play but excellent atmosphere and interesting, if cryptic story line. [h1]Long Review[/h1] I will echo what many other reviews and say ignore the RPG maker tag if this usually puts you off - it's irrelevent as this game is all about the story line & atmosphere. You play the part of a person in a 2D world, based mainly about an apartment block where you move about, interacting with objects to try and solve the puzzle about what is going on around you as mysterious events take place. The controls are simply the arrow keys to move about, the return key to activate an object and the escape key to escape from some dialog screens. I found the few puzzles I came across pretty straight forward and easily solvable. When you interact with an object there is usually some text displayed but there can alternatively be a picture displayed or audio played. There is no real time pressure in the game; you can largely play at your own pace. The game definitely has a Lovecraftian feel about it and I was never certain I really knew exactly what was going on but got enough of a gist about what was happening to keep me intrigued and interested. A single play through took me less than 2 hours and I'm not a particularly fast player. There are apparently three possible endings and I would imagine I'll play through this game again to experience all of them. This is certainly one of the best games I've played in 2016 and better than many AAA titles I've played. This game is so good and so much more than I expected. It was creepy and it has a really good story. 10/10 would recommend especially if you love rpg horror games

I absolutely love this game. When I got this, I was not expecting what it handed me. What I thought would be a short, easy-to-see-coming mind twist ended up being something so much more than that. I was so involved in this game that I got a friend of mine to play with me and try to figure out the puzzles and craft theories before I reached the end. The mechanics are unique and the puzzles actually make you think. (There was one that I had to come to the Community Guidelines to figure out which I'll touch base on further down to avoid spoilers.) The atmosphere is tense and has you scared and confused WITHOUT JUMPSCARES. The music is fitting and certainly adds to the tense situations throughout the game. My only wish was that I could figure out how to turn the music down a bit. In total, if you enjoy games that scare you and get you thinking, you'll love this adventure. *SPOILERS BELOW, PLEASE DO NOT READ FURTHER IF YOU HAVE NOT PLAYED THIS GAME* The only puzzle I didn't find too enjoyable was the one in the sewers. I searched and found all of the pictures, I found the notes that give 'hints', but could not figure it out to save my life. When I looked it up and saw the explanation, I thought 'No wonder I couldn't get that.' The puzzle is set up nicely, yes. It has a lot of potential, but some of the conclusions I would have had to come to felt a little farfetched to think up on my own without using simple "Guess and Check" standards. That does NOT take away from this game though! It's only one small part that I got stuck on, the rest was a fantastic rollercoaster of fitting together pieces of diaries to try to make sense of what was going on. I LOVE the fact that unlocking achievements unlock the books on the shelf and I can't wait to get them all so I can see what that locked book has in store for me.

This is a great game. If you're look for an unsettling, psychological, mind-bending puzzle of a story, then look no further.

Для меня эта игра действительно шедевр. За достаточно короткое время она успевает захватить игрока и увлечь его историей. Из особенностей могу отметить необходимость проходить игру 5 раз, для понимания полного сюжета и окончательной концовки. Саундтрек великолепен, действительно подходит к игре, а в некоторых случаях доводит до мурашек, как собсна это делают жуткие моменты в игре. Особенно советую любителям потыкать в предметы, ведь в Wait для получения дополнительной, весьма интересной информации, нужно осматривать чуть ли не каждый предмет, заглядывать чуть ли не в каждую дырочку, каждую щелочку. Сюжет, конечно, дико завернут и закручен, но после полного прохождения уже вполне реально полностью понять, что там и как. Пожалуй, сложность была лишь в получении ачивок, или это в некоторых случаях жопоразрывающие непонятные действия. Словом, 100 офисных планктонов-оккультистов из 10 ритуалов.

Ein Spiel, das an die guten älteren Teile der Silent Hill -Reihe erinnert. Ein absolutes muss !!
