Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.43/day in the week to Aug 11 → 6.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

FTL meets the grim dark future of the legally distinct millennium. The game feels good, the inclusion of psychers fits very well. The combination of ships and commanders makes for extra interesting starting points and fun questions on what you can get out of the unique strengths and weaknesses of a ship by putting the "right" captain on it. The old FTL staple of "very high volley plus good shields and evasion" still holds true but magic can mess with that with various crew targeting powers if you're not careful. It has also been getting fairly consistent post-launch support which is a giant green flag. I wish the devs every success and I'm looking forward to seeing what they add and what their future projects will be.
This game feels like an excellent mod of faster than light that is themed as after warhammer 40k.

I have never played FTL before, but I do love 40k. My friend got me this game for Christmas and I already logged over 50 hours into it. The build variety is really good, you can make ships that 3-shot bosses, you can have an amazing boarding crewe, or just fire a gazzilion projectiles and psychic spells and shred the enemy. The art style is really nice, and the music slaps! Highly recommended!
The best 40k FTL-alike Games Workshop tried to kill. Final bosses are poorly balanced and it's bit stingy with the resource you get each run that you need to unlock new stuff, but it's fun all the same.
Yes, it's an improvement over a 13 year old game it is based on. You shouldn't play it because the developer is apparently disrespectful to you.
Anime in Void War
A small part of the game's content is intentionally imbued with distinctive aspects of one sci-fi anime series (and so it constitutes a "parody" of it):
Neon Genesis Evangelion
...
It's in the form of humans operating ships, described as having arrived from another universe or dimension.
The overall similarity doesn't reach legal infringement threshold and the differences include that the humans are not drawn in an anime style. The shared aspects include:
The human group is called SDF and possesses superior technology (like the SSDF in NGE does). The humans' faces have similarities with faces of pilots in NGE, most notable one their apparent age. They lack the natives' psionic abilities and they are superior at operating combat craft. The appearance of the group's ships is reminiscent of that of non-human living beings in NGE.
Even though the appearances of this content take up a tiny portion of the game, it is common to experience them at least once per "run". ("Run" is an instance of playing the game from the start to the end. This game is designed to be short but played many times). The insertion of this content eradicates the primacy of Void War's own world, reducing it to one of the two worlds within the game. That's one reason why I wouldn't like it even if I loved the anime. The NGE-themed group is portrayed as the winner in the conflict between it and the natives of Void War (even though it is not a big challenge for the player). The insertion of this constitutes an assertion of dominance over the player by the developer. The first time it is encountered, it is a "pie in the face". All subsequent times it is encountered are instances of the player choosing to be dominated and humiliated by the developer again, as if choosing to kiss the developer's foot, just so that he can continue to derive enjoyment from the game.

Who made Void War?
The game is said to be made by "Tundra", and there's been noticeable scarcity of places with an explanation as to who "Tundra" represents (one such place being the endgame credits). I can do no more than to invite you to reflect on this.

Other thoughts
The game uses up a lot of CPU power for a 2D game. It panders to new players in distasteful ways, of which the most glaring example is that the tutorial difficulty is called 'Normal'. The game does come with a few good, non-obvious ideas, of which the most significant one is the realization that a (borderline) grimdark setting is a good match for FTL's game mechanics. There is more that I could criticize Void War for, but I don't want to effectively provide advice on how to improve the game. The game is rotten at its core, irrespective of how fun or polished it may seem. Don't demean yourself by giving it your time and attention.
FTL meets grimdark. The aesthetic is peak.
Best War 40k Space Raid kind of game. If you like FTL - this is a best sequel in a best lore.
this game understands warhammer better than gw does
Void War > Warhammer
This is a good game. I'm personally not a HUGE fan of the game, but it's insane to see a company that's "borrowed" as much from other franchises as Games Workshop have the audacity to sue this indie-dev over their original art. It's not too shocking, honestly. GW hates their own fans, and they do their best to alienate them at every turn- so it makes sense for them to try and litigiously drive any alternatives into the ground when they provide what Warhammer has lacked for the past decade. When they come for Void War, we protest. When they come for Space King, we riot. Lol Glad to see the game available again.
Very good FTL rouge like, had it on the wish list waitng for a sale, but GW wants to be a monopoly and so I decided that money spent against them is practically a sale.
