Is this a demo? Talk about the most basic ass game you guys could have possibly put out. WOW. There's about three things to do in this game. You'll spend more time designing your paint scheme. Don't waste your money
Let me start out saying iRacing is my favorite sim so I thought this was going to be a quality game. I was mistaken. The PC version was just a money grab and is a very poor port. This was clearly designed to run on a game controller on the X-Box and Wheel support was just an after thought for the PC. The game installs optimized for a X-box game controller and if you have a wheel, it is extremely difficult to get around until until you can figure out how to bind controls your wheel. Once you get some buttons bound, it took me another 40 min to figure out how to start the game because if you don't bind the radio confirm to same button as the A button for Select you can't enter the track. The game also lets bind the same button to multiple items that can cause issues like, changing views and requesting pitstops on the same button. As far as game mechanics go if you are in a practice session and the crew chief says you are low on fuel, instead of letting you request a pitstop and going into pit lane for some gas, it makes you go into the menu and return to the garage and then return to the track again. There is no native VR support, Why? No native triple screen support, unless you use Nvida Surround which I dislike. Both of these things are available in iRacing as well as other games like Asseto Corsa Evo, LMU, AMS2 so why not in this game. Because is was just a console port and they did as little as possible to cut corners for profits. They forgot that the same people who would buy this game play those other titles and would expect that out of this game on a PC. and that PC sim racers are more advanced in their equipment than console players. (Nothing against console players I'm one too) The wheel support is bad as well. The wheel calibration is one of the worst I have seen in a game. iRacing has great wheel and FFB support, but the FFB and wheel settings in this game are very clunky and just never feel dialed in and the in-game mouse over help is very poor on what does what. There are a lot of other issues as well that I don't feel like writing all night about, but I would not recommend this game. I love iRacing so I am not trying to hate on this game and I really wanted a NASCAR game that I could just fire up for some quick action but this one doesn't cut it. I really don't know why they didn't put more effort into the PC release, but if they were worried about losing customers to their subscription model, why even do a release at all.
Nascar Fans really needs to raise their standards for what an acceptable Nascar game is. Positives Does not require 3rd party account. No denuvo. No kernel level anticheat. Completely devoid of the garbage that is Epic Online Services. Negatives Why is every racing game full of unrealistic assists and MP lobbies allow them all, I will never do multiplayer in a game where opponents are allowed to use assists. Physics are bad, both handling and crash. Some kind of weird magical Traction Control is forced on no matter your settings. Can't stall Engine. Can't lock up diff or blow engine with aggressive downshifting. Brakes make no sense, might be the worst feeling brakes of any racing game. Game takes control away from you constantly which a game should NEVER do (every caution, pitstop and race finish) Awful Track Limits makes Road Races a pain. No exhaust flames or animated Hood and Roof Flaps. Some of the worst music I have ever had the displeasure of being exposed to. Gearboxes are not realistic at all, don't have to lift to shift and can't queue shifts. No adjustable Brake Bias while driving. The two cockpit views are not very good and no way to adjust them. You are not allowed to do all Track/ Car combos for some reason?! Fast setups doesn't make sense which further proves how dumbed down the physics are. No DNF's or even Tire Punctures possible. AI's have no personalities and seems to always have a perfect car/ day Career seems to be painful and somehow even worse than the last 2 HEAT games (didn't have time to test it) Paint scheme dlc's should be free, especially for games that are going to be replaced after a year.
RIP KYLE BUSCH
I was lukewarm on a positive review. Then I played multiplayer. The career is pretty basic. You basically race and wait for parts to unlock. You can't hire drivers for your race teams. The paint booth is pretty limited. Multiplayer. Has basic bugs making it faster to play demolition derby than race. This is a game mode for 12 year olds.
great first game things can be add and improved on but overall its solid start
Do not buy this game. I gave it 14 hours and it is not worth a dime. I tried so hard to like it, but man it's just a headache. Online: Non-existent. You're lucky if there is one public lobby available. (I'm on PC with a racing wheel) Gameplay: No racing line, so any casual gamer can ignore this game entirely. Not knowing the line means the AI is crashing you out constantly. I thought it would be fun as an arcade game on my racing wheel, but they can't even get that right. Very upset I wasted my money,
the input mapping is a clusterfk. there's no reset-keybinds option, you have to delete C:\Users\ur user name\AppData\Local\Maverick\InputBindings.cfg to reset all keybinds. and u can't delete one button to one keybind, u have to clear the whole thing if binded one wrong button, and bind every other buttons back. steering wheel angle can't be 1:1 in game, if ur steering wheel is 900° max, and u choose 900° wheel rotation and 100% steering range in game, it can only steer from -110° to 110°. and the force feed back sucks, even Forza Motorsport 8 - a dead game, has better wheel support. every time i pit i ran over the pit crew, they all just A-pose standing at the pit box, really immersive. can't disable cockpit camera shaking or horizon lock; can't adjust fov; can't adjust cockpit camera position. "A" works fine until "A" is "let's go", so you can't even start a race even if u binded a steering wheel button to controller "A", solution: bind that same button to "radio confirm" or use a xbox controller. poor optimization for this kind of graphics. don't buy it if u want to play this using ffb steering wheel, if u really love nascar and have a xbox controller, maybe buy it on -75% sale, if it is on one.
turn right to go left!
