About

Void Crew is a 1-6 player co-op First Person Space Adventure: Rally your crew, power your spaceship, and get ready for epic space battles, facing chaotic dangers you and your crew never trained for!
In the future, a doctrine of survival unites humanity against a mysterious aggressor - the Hollow. As the chosen ones, it’s up to you as a crew of up to 1-6 mavericks to brave the void and bring order to the galaxy!
Embark on the most advanced spacecrafts ever built, and journey into deep space on thrilling missions that you and your crew absolutely never trained for! Asteroid storms, solar flares and your buddies’ screw-ups will be the least of your worries, as hostile aliens, and desperate human scavengers push your crew to their limits.
Pilot the ship, man the turrets, perform emergency repairs, recharge the power cells, utilize space station weaponry, fabricate munitions and exit the ship on extravehicular missions - be it patching the ship hull or scavenging derelict wrecks.
Teamwork is key: pick a role and prioritize your most urgent tasks with your crew... or try to do everything at once and just wing it as you’ll be short on reliable manpower!
Brute force through thick armor, pierce energy shields, launch missile barrages or snipe weak spots - either way you’ll make sure the enemy ships spin out of control to their destruction - preferably before you blow up! The victor claims the spoils, and you’ll need to scavenge valuable materials to upgrade and face the direst conditions with top notch equipment … and don’t forget to go full fashion victim and customize your character's spacesuit to fly in style and boldly go where you probably shouldn’t have!
Team-up as a crew of 1-6 in co-op: Round up your best buddies and you're in for a wild space ride!
Your ship, your way to play: With a flexible player role system and on-the-go installable ship systems you’ll be able to switch your strategies faster than a rogue asteroid changes course.
Customize and upgrade: Give your character a spiffy new look with rich upgrades, or add more toys to your ship! You'll be the most powerful and stylish crew in the galaxy!

I want to recommend this to my friends so bad. The game is fun with friends and even just random people. I already have 100 hours in this game. But good lord there's no optimization in this game. Has your run gone on for longer than an hour? Have you gone farther than 10 jumps? Congrats, your run will now likely end to a myriad of technical issues.

Desync from the host and can't pick up or drop anything up.
Can't enter any seated positions anymore, making you useless.
People crashing but still remaining in the lobby and freezing the lobby for everyone.
Objects and players desyncing and getting stuck in walls.
Damage desync from the host and just dying.
Crash due to entity overflow.
Crash due to building weapon stats too high.
Crashes in general.
The end game is not about getting far and then eventually dying, but rather just disconnecting because you've hit a game-ending bug. And the problem is that if you bring up one of these, you get shouted down about how "There is Always a way to kill the Game". ... Then you've made a bad game. The devs are somewhat proactive with issues though. When my achievements broke, they went and fixed my save file. I just really wish this extended to the core game.
This game can be a lot of fun, and I've invested a lot of hours in it, but it's getting buggier with each update. At this point, about half my runs are lost to some bug making me unable to interact with the astral map and go to my next mission.
The gameplay is great and as a group we've had a lot of fun with it. I've been hosting most sessions and generally we just play till we die. Now that we're 25 levels into our skill trees that's not happening as much. So this weeks game play went like this: Day 1 --- play till three bosses, have a banner ship. We call it a night. There was 3 of us on the run. Day 2 --- there were 6 of us, so we start a new run, build the ship up, have a fantastic build, get three bosses in. Some folks drop out and we're left with the previous days group so we save and figure we'll resume that session. NOPE! THAT SAVE IS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONE. Apparently you get 1 STUPID SAVE GAME IN 2026. This is a multiplayer game, where I expect that anyone gaming with a group could get into the situation like I have here where you might host a different group based on people's schedules and might want to have saves for said groups. To make it better, I learned all this after starting up a solo run, so the second of the two runs got tossed in the trash too. So all the hours played were just grind and gone like a fart in the wind. If none of that bothers you then sure pick it up. But I won't recommend anyone else go the route of buying this game until they implement a save system. This is 2026. I've got DOS games that I can launch and load old saves from and somehow in 2026 we can't have multiple slots??? EDIT: Steam asked if I wanted to update after I played another 54 hours. Most of that was solo play, so another couple of bits from that aspect. First, my best run ended in an absolutely brutal unexplained death that I assume was due to friendly fire. I was 27 jumps in when I finally got the BRAIN absolver lance, set it up and then magically I went from 65ish hull to being blown up in about 5 seconds. Not an enemy around except for some prox mines about 600m away, so I assume it had to be friendly fire. My level of disappointment that friendly fire is a thing for Mk3 BRAIN turrets is immense. I've found some additional issues with things like "wow my screen keeps randomly glitching as I look at stuff" that is annoying but ignorable. The fact that you can get stuck in places like the outside of the ship....in space.... is annoying as well. I've had to force respawn due to that. For solo game play I think it's nuts that there's not a relic or boss drop that lets you convert a gun to a BRAIN. At a certain point....something like 14 levels in, my entire ship was Mk3 and I had no use for upgraders, or animus or anything. But it took 27 jumps to get the dang gun I wanted and then it blew me up. Another thing is that there should be a switch to auto-convert items of a rarity. Like if the fabricator is Mk2, then auto-recycle anything that is a 1, and mk3 auto-recycles anything 2 or below. In a really ideal world there'd be a mechanic where grav scoop 3 would just automagically pipe alloys and auto-recycle items direct to alloys when picked up. Some other things that would make for a better experience: * Allow private games to have more than 6 people. Yeah, yeah, there's a mod for that but it only works if your playing with PCMR friends and excludes you console friends. * Holy crap the console from the pilots chair takes up SOOO much screen space. Why on earth wouldn't the pilot just have a HUD in the chair. You almost have to third person view. * Why no official keybind to void jump from third person??? I have a few other issues, but ultimately the review summary is no different now than my original. TL/DR: Gameplay is great, it's a super fun solid game, but I absolutely cannot recommend it until there's official support for save slots. And really the save slots should be able to be named so that you can remember which group was which without writing it on post it note by the PC.
Actually liked this game. Then the Dev had to drop the ball with AI slop. I don't care how you spin it, you did not make an " authentic text-to-speech system" if you had done that you wouldn't call it "ethical AI" there is no such thing. You made a cake with oleander and are trying to pass it off as parsley. You poisoned your game because you didn't care about the end product you just wanted a feature. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say this: STOP USING AI TO GENERATE YOUR GAME IT MAKES YOU LOOK LAZY AND MAKES YOUR GAME SUFFER. Just ask yourself 1 question. Does this feature need to be generated by an algorithm that actively drains water or should I just sit down and actually try to make this cool feature with my team? It may fail and require you to do something out of your comfort zone. That's the point of being a creator, you try, you fail, you learn, you try again until you make it work or scrap the feature in favor of something else. By using an AI Generated model on someone's (consensual or otherwise) voice, you are actively spitting in the face of every voice actor, myself included. Rolling back the feature won't fix it either. You can't take the oleander out of the cake and if you do, no one will trust you again since your back peddling because you are facing backlash, not because you thought it was wrong, if you thought it was wrong you wouldn't have done it in the first place.
Gotta love slopping it up with AI, I would rather the Homunculus just not have a voice at all. Edit: The developers pay their voice actors 'per word generated' which is a step in the right direction. I still firmly stand by that they should cut out the needless AI and have a person voice the Homunculus. Glados wasn't loved because they sounded like a soulless robot, why should we expect this to become the norm now.
AI slop voice acting, and the devs seem to have NO concept of why that is bad, stating that it "Made sense creatively" That's not how it works, you cannot excuse not paying a VA for work, you can't do that. Seriously, NOT ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cool.
The game is essentially dead. Roughly 100 to 300 concurrent players worldwide according to steamcharts. And this is reflected in the availability of lobbies, even with crossplay enabled: most lobbies are private. This makes it really hard playing it at all if you're not on a solo trip. I find that unfortunate. I played it a lot during the early access phase about two years ago. Came back recently and found cool, meaningful new content that would be great to play, if there were people to share this experience with. This is really a waste, because it was really fun, chaotic at first, tactical later. And I love the role distribution. Some shoot, some fly, some scavenge, and the poor engineers run marathons to keep the ship operational. However, no point in playing a multiplayer game, if there are no players. Maybe it would help to address the issues other people are pointing out here. Many complain about missing depth and end-game motivation. Many others about bugs, optimization, and network stability issues. If this helps to bring back players, great. I'll gladly board again. Until then, I only recommend buying and playing it, IF you don't mind the issues reported by others and have a regular friend group to play it with.
This game FEELS good to play. The levers and electrical panels feel heavy, the guns have a really good punch to them, the void jumping is awesome(and you DO go flying if you don't get in a seat beforehand which is amazing), the devs did a great job with the raw gameplay of maintaining, flying, and shooting from your ship. I like the module system, and the power system is simplistic yet effective. In terms of raw explorable content it could have more, but there are still updating it and the game seems more focused on space combat than exploration. Overall, if you are into spaceship games this is a damn good one. Much easier when you have a full crew however.
Decided to use AI out of the blue when it was not mentionned when I bought the game around the ime the early access started.
It's a fun game, especially with friends. Online random teams are chaotic as always. Very hit/miss. They do have a solo build which causes a bit of a conundrum. You're better solo than with a 2nd player as the solo buffs provided are so insane. It really isn't worth teaming up with people until you have a group of 4+. Solo you get double damage and all of your weapons power usage is reduced by 2. Nothing else even comes close. Yeah the automatic weapons have some restrictions but that double damage bonus makes up for it by a LOT. Overall a fun game. It's a roguelite so the same grind over and over but I still managed to get about 40h out of it. I think I've had enough though. Grab it on sale and have fun out there.
