A short and sweet puzzle game that uses simple mechanics but manages to offer a lot of nice challenges. You play as a snake who must consume all the fruit in each level, but you must plan your moves carefully as some movement restrictions are in place. Overall, the game is a nice time-killer for puzzle fans, but isn't anything truly special. The puzzle design is good, but can be quite repetitive. There are 100 levels spread across five worlds, with each world introducing a new gimmick. The gimmicks per world are pretty cool with the exception of the last world which has a peculiar twist that does not really have any value to the puzzle and instead just ends up as a minor inconvenience. While it should take a while for you to complete all 100 levels, the lack of distinct and memorable brain-teasers feels like a lot of those levels are just rehashes of previous ones. I feel like the point could have been made with a lot less levels, to be honest. Nevertheless, there are a number of clever ideas here and for its price I would still recommend it to puzzle fans or for those looking for a nice thinking experience that is not too demanding as other games like Stephen's Sausage Roll. The graphics are simple but very vibrant and clear. The music does its job but is nothing really special and can get repetitive quickly.
An amazing and challenging puzzle game. I like pixel art, so i liked the artstyle too. New mechanics time to time. Recommended
Upaon: A Snake's Journey is a delightful game and I enjoyed the entire experience! The Sokoban-inspired puzzles are challenging yet approachable; they're a perfect fit for youngsters or casual puzzle fans of any age. Simple controls and fast respawn times keep the game from feeling like a slog when encountering levels that are particularly challenging. The game also provides new obstacles with each 'world' to keep the gameplay fresh and interesting. The music definitely gets stale quickly but is charming enough in small doses. I would have liked to see more worlds with new obstacle types and the inclusion of a narrative could have been a nice addition but these are very minor complaints that do not detract from the overall positive experience I had playing the game. Considering the low purchase price and solid gameplay, I highly recommend Upaon: A Snake's Journey. If you pick this game up and enjoy it, I highly recommend also checking out Red Ronin - another game with Sokoban-inspired puzzle elements from this developer. It's a more narrative-driven and mature-themed experience with tougher puzzles and was also quite enjoyable.
Fun game!!! Challenging but not too difficult or frustrating, at least until the last world. It turns into a race against the clock so you're punished for actually trying to think ahead before making a move. It's a nice rush mode that really changes the pace of the game but I found myself getting pretty frustrated on a couple levels in particular where I just could not find a solution and wasn't able to stop moving to find one. It wasn't a huge deal, but it made me think of how the last set of levels could have avoided this by maybe not starting the timer until you make your first move, or swapped out a timer entirely for only being able to use the minimum number of moves required to solve the puzzle. I still liked this fast, frantic section overall, though! New mechanics are introduced at a great pace from start to finish in this game, and the artwork is very cute. I'm glad I spent over a thousand dollars upgrading my PC to play games like this.
Really fun time killer game with some boppin' music that'll get stuck in your head!
Recomendado.
This game is waaaaaaaay more challenging than it looks. At first the concept of combining the snake game with sokoban feels already interesting on its own, but as you progress through the levels, more and more new mechanics are added to the mix, even PORTALS! IT'S INSANE! If you like some cool brain-teasers do not hesitate to get this game.
