Classic Sokoban uses just one block type. In Puzzledorf, there are different coloured blocks that must reach matching coloured targets, and movable boulders that block your path. Moving them around tight spaces creates a unique challenge that sets Puzzledorf apart.
In one puzzle, the blue and green blocks start on opposite sides of a narrow corridor. The solution? A careful swap: shuffling them past each other with almost no room. Clean rules, clever setups, and solutions that just click.
Fun, challenging and very addictive Sokoban game, with very relaxing music and a chilled vibe.

🎬Gameplay Video🎬
https://youtu.be/wjn2j5d4sRw
🤔Overall Impressions🤔

Puzzledorf is a great little game if you enjoy Sokoban and want to really test out the grey matter. There is a handy tutorial to ease you into mechanics, and beginner levels as well as advanced, so all difficulties are catered for. There’s plenty of content here to keep you busy for 8 hours plus, and a variety of different modes, and achievements to aim for. The music is so relaxing and it has a very chilled, vibe to it, even though you may be tearing your hair out trying to solve some of the puzzles.

🕹️Gameplay🕹️
In total there are 170 puzzles to tackle, building up in difficulty, spread over different worlds. Puzzles are either split into the classic box pushing challenges, where you need to get a box to a certain point in as few moves as possible. Step counts register on local leader boards or contribute to achievements, if you can complete the puzzle in under so many moves, otherwise, you can take as many moves as you like. The other options are moving coloured boxes on to their corresponding colour; sliding boxes on ice, which brings another set of challenges; and a mirrored section where it’s the same puzzles, but mirrored. For people who have difficulty recognizing colours, these can be swapped for symbols instead. There is a handy delete button, so you can retrace your steps, or a quick restart button, if you want to have a completely new start. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2902995631
🧩Puzzles🧩
I was really impressed by the puzzles. They are so clever, and reap maximum havoc on your brain. Of course, they start off very simply, and going through the beginners’ levels was quite straight forward, but they will teach you lessons you will need to apply in harder sections. The areas can be incredibly tight to work in, and I knew I was applying the right rules, yet the puzzles still alluded me. A lot of these puzzles contain Eureka moments, and it is very satisfying finally getting the solution. I found the puzzles getting harder as the game progressed and the boards increased in size. There aren’t any massive puzzles, but just a tiny increase can inflate the step count considerably, and the chances of making mistakes. The game does a good job of managing frustration levels by making the puzzles challenging but achievable. I managed to get to the end of most of the worlds, but they do get very difficult towards this end section, and quite challenging to get there too. Surprisingly, the mirrored puzzles provided a challenge I wasn’t expecting. I mean, I’ve already done these puzzles. How hard can they be reversed? The answer is just as difficult as the original puzzles, and you need new solutions to solve them.
I’d really appreciate it if you would consider following Indie Blast! On Steam or if you prefer video and commentary, please subscribing to my You Tube channel HERE
The sliding block puzzles are even more taxing, as you have extra worries to think of like adding buffers to stop the blocks over reaching their mark. In these puzzles there are a lot of other items to move, like rocks, which aid in puzzle solutions, and sometimes there are four squares you need to fill, so it can be very difficult. I got stuck on numerous puzzles, and even had to give the game a break as I just couldn’t solve them. When I returned, I found I completed some I had been stuck on. I think I probably had brain fatigue. The only minor gripe I would have, is that although there is a lot of content, eventually you will hit a brick wall and there is no way of skipping a puzzle and coming back to it. I understand there are lessons to be learnt in every puzzle, but I think a skip puzzle would be welcomed, as some gamers might not ever return to try again, and that would be a shame.
📺Graphics📺
The colours are very bright and the aesthetic is charming but functionable. Everything feels smooth and responsive, even with a controller.
🎵Sound🎵
The music is amazing. I loved it. I can see why it is being offered as a separate purchase, because it is very relaxing and fits perfectly into a puzzle game. I think to be honest it kept me sane with its mellow, synthpop waves of gorgeousness.
🍳Conclusion🍳

Puzzledorf is a very good sokoban game, with smooth mechanics, tantalizing puzzles, enough content to keep you busy for hours, and a sexy soundtrack that is dreamy and relaxing. If you enjoy puzzle games, it is certainly worth giving it a go, but the lack of a skip puzzle option may deter progress, as the puzzles can be quite difficult in the later stages. <EDIT: The game has seen multiple updates since I wrote this review, with a bunch of winter-themed levels added, plus some very easy beginner levels, achievements, and a new soundtrack. I'm trying to keep this review orderly, so I'll mostly leave it un-edited and just say: it was good before, and it's better now.> The main game is 40 levels (8 each in 5 different "worlds" with their own spritey biomes), plus 12 new "bonus" christmas levels with a sliding mechanic, added Dec 2021. Your goal is always to push blocks onto their matching goal-tiles. By default you're matching colored blocks to colored tiles, but there's a handy colorblind mode that redundantly distinguishes blocks/tiles with distinctive shapes, and if you want to forego color entirely you can just go with gray shapes. Mechanics are simple, with no funny business: you're just pushing blocks around and working within limited space. The main game is pitched at around 5-6 hours. YMMV, but I ran through those 40 levels in ~2 hours. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, thanks in large part to: (1) a decent difficulty curve that never arced into the stratosphere but had me stopping to think reasonably often. (2) [strike]spacey, chill, groovy music[/strike] -- the soundtrack got changed, and while I don't hate the new one I haven't played with it enough to say much about it. Skip #2. and (3) charming pixel art that goes a long way to make the game feel polished and well-crafted, and includes cheerful fanfare for beating a level. Once you beat the main game, you unlock "Mirror Mode" which seems to be roughly the same levels again but reoriented. This isn't an awful way to add in a little replayability (though I don't think I'll partake at the moment) but I'm not sure how much content it really adds, and you might justifiably wait for a sale. The game also counts the steps you take and tracks your best solve on each level, so if you want to challenge yourself you can -- but this is just for fun, and there's no benchmarks provided for what an optimal solution would be. One pretty slick design decision is that since levels don't need much space, controls are displayed around the dark edges of the screen by default -- but just press tab and all that clutter gets tucked away until you need it again. R to restart a level, Z for unlimited undo, Arrow Keys or WASD to move (no rebinding), and if you hold down shift and press an arrow, you "run" in one direction, limiting the need for redundant input. Escape very sensibly lets you back out of a level, flip back from level select to main menu, etc. Separate volume controls for music and FX, and a range of windowed resolutions in addition to fullscreen. The store page says full controller support, but I didn't try that. All in all, while it's not going to break your brain, it's just a wholesome, coherent whole -- a great example of Unity development done right, and solid game design within sensible limits.
Disclaimer: I received this game for free. I've also played roughly 8 hours outside of steam on an older version of the game. Puzzledorf is a simple yet challenging puzzle game that delivers on its promise to explore the question "What makes a good puzzle?". This isn't the type of game I'm usually hooked by. Through thought-provoking puzzles, simple and elegant graphics and a catchy soundtrack, the game did a great job at keeping me engaged for much longer than I expected. The game's mechanics are really simple: Push the colored blocks to their respective colored destinations. The game starts out with simple and intuitive levels that even the most inexperienced players should have no problem completing. It does a great job of gradually increasing the difficulty level, keeping you engaged and feeling challenged. The high-score system even had me replaying several of the more complex puzzles once I understood the solution in order to beat my previous score. The art style and music in Puzzledorf are simple and elegant. The player will visit different themed worlds as they progress through the puzzles, which certainly helped to keep the game feeling fresh and to provide a sense of progression. Over all, Puzzledorf felt very well polished and free of bugs (which is very nice to see from an independent developer). It's also great to see the addition of colorblind friendly options which replace the colored blocks with differing shapes to suit all types of colorblindness. There's plenty of content to keep you playing for hours at a time, and it's well worth the low price-point.
Classic sokoban game done really well. Cute art too.
There is an elegance to this game that is very reassuring. The highlight for me of the game is the background track that is calming, ethereal and hopefully available to download as a ringtone!. Combined with the well-designed maps you are truly taken out of your world and into Puzzledorf. The puzzles are well-designed and the game overall is a genuine challenge. The game only gets better as it gets on. With more turns and tricks as you progress. You will not be disappointed with this little gem of a game. Looking forward to further releases from this developer.
Once in while, a game comes along that provides something fresh amongst a sea of sameness. That is Puzzledorf! Puzzledorf does for Sokoban games what Firewatch did for adventure games. It unexpectedly pulls you into a world you didn't you were missing from. You feel instantly right at home, and that brings a sense of calm, even as you face a foe as old as the world itself; time! Time pressure mounts, and you begin to make moves that a less-pressured you would have thought ridiculous. You review your actions at the end, and realise "Why on earth did I do that?". But the game doesn't make you feel stupid; instead, it provides a strange level of clarity, making you instantly feel smarter, and then instantly providing you an opportunity to observe that for yourself by besting your last game. A game that calms you and raises your intelligence, whilst providing you entertainment? Count me in!
Really clever puzzle design, it warms you up to the challenging ones really well.
Boxxle, but on Islands.
This is a really good little block-pushing puzzler. Most games in this genre, in my opinion, try to introduce twists and gimmicks to constantly challenge you, whereas Puzzledorf sticks to the classic sokoban formula of simply moving blocks around. And I love it for that. Sometimes simple is best!
