Great game albeit it gets a little repetitive but the constant crashes and black screen of death renders it largely unplayable.
This has become one of the most computationally expensive games I have ever installed despite coming out in 2024. The game cites 2GB VRAM as minimum specs, but it uses 6.3 out of my 8GB on the lowest settings? No wonder upscaling is on by default, you ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up the optimization completely so you had to cover yourself. It used to run fine. Why did you push out a DLC instead of addressing the glaring performance problems?
A really great submarine simulator. The feeling of sinking entire fleets alone or with a wolf pack and escaping before the warships catch you is pretty awesome. Overall it's a lot of fun to act tactically.
The interface on this is clunky and frustrating. Even just trying to spin the camera around is an act of futility. Why not instead of automatically zooming in on the management side view of the ship when I spin the camera around, you make make it a hot key to switch between free camera and the management view? Why can't anyone make a decent sub game anymore? It can't be that hard! I feel like I played better games on NES and early PC.
Welp, the realistic TDC has been out for around two years, and my boat still occasionally thinks it's firing boomerangs instead of torpedoes. The fire control box is still unreliable at times. The bow/stern gyro angle receiver selector will occasionally refuse to turn or even switch from bow to stern (or vice versa) on its own. I've also had the gyro synchronization lamp indicate the system is ready, only for a torpedo commanded to make a 6° left gyro turn to leave the tube turning the opposite direction. My personal favorite bug I've encountered is having 3 tubes flooded expecting to fire at 3 different targets in a convoy. I did this because the firing offset calculator I built in Calc said that I would only have seven seconds between firing at target 2 and target 3. So I preemptively flooded all three tubes(1, 2, and 5). TDC parallax was set to backward, fire control boxes were set to no salvo, tube 5, attack periscope, stern, and bridge launch lever. Attack periscope was locked on aft target and bridge launch lever confirmed only tube 5 launch. When I fired, rather than tube 5 launching as I intended, tubes 1 and 2 launched. The torp in tube two made a small turn and swam off in a random direction. The torp from tube one made a hard right hand turn trying to impact the aft target. Ultimately, I've built a torpedo run time calculator because the game doesn't give you that data, A 5090 maneuvering board because the map is inaccurate, and finally a actual TDC because the one in game is unreliable. I've independently verified my firing solutions outside the game, so these aren't simply bad attack calculations. They're intermittent fire-control bugs that have a major impact on THE core game play mechanic. Then I asked myself why the hell am I creating a core game mechanic outside of the game to serve as an indicator for when the game's mechanic is bugged? So I can reset all systems in game before re-entering the data and firing? That's crazy. No thank you, I'll just play modded Silent Hunter for my WWII sub sim fix for the foreseeable future.
just bought the dlc can't play because it crashes game 10/10
This game has more bugs than you can shake a stick at. Random "waiting..." screens that never end, Deck gun deciding to do unstoppable spins while attempting to fire causing the gunner to shoot your own ship repeatedly causing massive damage and crew deaths and many many more! I completed the same mission at least 7 times because it kept freezing. Don't buy this ♥♥♥♥.
My favorite part of this game is the part where you're not allowed to have any fun. There's no button to turn off the enemy's magical ability to know exactly where you are no matter what you do. Good times. Wanna sink a ship? Hope you don't plan on sticking around and enjoying your hard work, because they're going to instantly know who you are, where you are, what you had for breakfast, and where you're going next. Have fun with that. I tried to and it didn't work out.
