Can't even finish the tutorial due to the bugs. How is this considered a finished product?
It's June 2026 and the game is still ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. The dev or the devs (there's only a handful I believe) should have fixed the game first before selling out and making that dlc. Even the mods are not enough. The chance of having a game breaking bug somewhere is about 99%. Oh, and let's not forget to mention that the type IX stats are exactly the same as type VII :DDD. UBOAT is the black sheep of the subsim genre. Such a shame..
Honestly, the game is just moving in the right direction, you can't get bored when you have always new situations you can end up in, it's a great game to spend a whole afternoon bullying the royal navy with
This game is great. I love it so much. Its a light, more micromanagement of crew oriented alternative to Silent Hunter. But this game has a lot of issues that need to be fixed before I can confidently recommend the game. The workshop mods for this game do fix a lot of the issues (which is some Bathesda ass development), but there is one bug that desperately needs to be fixed. And that is the mission board not populating sometimes. There's been a couple of campaigns I was doing where I had to start over because the missions would not populate.
Welp, the realistic TDC has been out for around two years, and my boat still occasionally thinks it's firing boomerangs instead of torpedoes. The fire control box is still unreliable at times. The bow/stern gyro angle receiver selector will occasionally refuse to turn or even switch from bow to stern (or vice versa) on its own. I've also had the gyro synchronization lamp indicate the system is ready, only for a torpedo commanded to make a 6° left gyro turn to leave the tube turning the opposite direction. My personal favorite bug I've encountered is having 3 tubes flooded expecting to fire at 3 different targets in a convoy. I did this because the firing offset calculator I built in Calc said that I would only have seven seconds between firing at target 2 and target 3. So I preemptively flooded all three tubes(1, 2, and 5). TDC parallax was set to backward, fire control boxes were set to no salvo, tube 5, attack periscope, stern, and bridge launch lever. Attack periscope was locked on aft target and bridge launch lever confirmed only tube 5 launch. When I fired, rather than tube 5 launching as I intended, tubes 1 and 2 launched. The torp in tube two made a small turn and swam off in a random direction. The torp from tube one made a hard right hand turn trying to impact the aft target. Ultimately, I've built a torpedo run time calculator because the game doesn't give you that data, A 5090 maneuvering board because the map is inaccurate, and finally a actual TDC because the one in game is unreliable. I've independently verified my firing solutions outside the game, so these aren't simply bad attack calculations. They're intermittent fire-control bugs that have a major impact on THE core game play mechanic. Then I asked myself why the hell am I creating a core game mechanic outside of the game to serve as an indicator for when the game's mechanic is bugged? So I can reset all systems in game before re-entering the data and firing? That's crazy. No thank you, I'll just play modded Silent Hunter for my WWII sub sim fix for the foreseeable future.
