DON'T BUY THE GAME. Armored Front is apparently dead and seems we have been scammed. It seems that on Apr 4, in the discord group, the developer left this message: "Hi, the progress has been a little slow with this project. However, I have been doing a lot of testing last couple of months including some multiplayer with Unity's new multiplayer solution. Things haven't been going all that great with it though because it is very new and I didn't feel that it is ready yet, perhaps in a year it would be. I am not sure how long I want to keep the game on early access but I will have to rethink/design the project over if I were to do this, including dropping some physics interaction aspect -this is what I am leaning towards. From all the feedback I have gotten so far it seems vast majority do not care much for physic and they want predictable, smooth control. I would also make to fully playable without a VR headset. I don't think it could support quest natively though, not without decreasing the graphic quality by a lot, quest is a mobile GPU. In the meantime, while we wait for the big stuff to happen, I think I am going to release few some defense mission for PAK40 and MG, probably in a few weeks." -- These promised updates never happened (of course if they ever appear I will change my review). The game has been half a year without updates now. The developer doesn't respond any posts and is not to be seen anywhere anymore. His own statements saying he'll have to redesign everything over are hard to believe. Don't buy this game, don't be scammed like we were. Even if the developer's intentions were good, he was not able to hold on the promise. Is this reversible? Maybe, but he'll have to make up for the lack of updates and communications.
I hope things will change because I want this game to succeed. It could be great but right now it's too rough. Even for early access it can't be recommended. Wonky physics and hand tracking make everything too hard. Shells bounce out of the gun when you're loading. Using controls is too unreliable while at the same time knocking them unintentionally is too easy. I hope the problems can be dealt with but right now even the bare bones content is too clumsy and unreliable.
The dev is genuine scum. He made plenty of false promises to the community, then just abandoned the game entirely. He turned his profile private, the Discord invite doesn't work, and despite his radio silence and disregard of his players, he lets his unfinished (but just enough content to classify as a game), overpriced, disappointment of a game scam people into buying it because they were too unfortunate to realize it's been abandoned. And if you're thinking "well you don't have much playtime, is it really that bad?": It only takes about 2 minutes before you realize just how "early access" this game is and start wandering when the next update will be. By then, you realize the game has been abandoned with no further communication from the Dev since June of last year hinting he might just need to "take a year off and reconsider/ structure the game". At this point, refund the game, and never come back. The Dev won't come back, why should you? P.S I am not saying that this Dev or any Dev is or should be forced to work, but at least tell the community instead of disappearing. When you run away with everyone's money, that's when you can go... well you know the rest.
Abandoned, unfinished game. Not really enjoyable for the time being.
Waited long for this game to come out. Huge dissapointment everything is clunky and feels like fre VR experience. It looks like Steel Crew is that what this game should be.
Abandoned in an almost unplayable state. This is hardly an alpha.
Had potential but it hasn't been updated in over 2 years now. Sad that it ended up as just another EA where the devs just took the money and ran.
I have been waiting for this game forever and here it is. What a trip to command a tiger H1! while the controls can be a bit confusing at first moving in and around the tank is easier than expected, although i'm not one to critique games i believe that maybe a control to lock the player in place when in the gunner or loaders position would be beneficial to game play, this is because while in the loaders position, while loading rounds into the breech you can accidentally move your player entity gradually with each round loaded moving you around the loaders position, but other than that i believe that this game deserves my first review as its impressed me. To the DEV team, amazing work!
Honestly probably the best tank game I've played. I love the African campaign and tigers so. Maybe it would be nice to have more levels, better AI gunnery, and maybe a somehow faster way for commands, but otherwise I like this game solid potential.
This is a very tentative recommendation at this point. I only have 30 minutes of game time so far....but it seems like I've played longer. Either way, it's a cool game but sort of broken....and it's super early access so maybe that's par for the course. I've found that the most damn frustrating aspect is loading shells. I've tried to load in the tank and also the PAK 40 that they let you play with. It's total hit and miss if the shell goes into the breech. Also trying to make minute adjustments in the aiming is a pain in the ass. Ordering everyone from the commanders position is cool but takes way to many button presses to get things done....as well as not always getting the results you want. Also, when told to engage targets at will, it seems the gunner gets confused and doesn't stick to one target....thus getting you killed. I appreciate the fact that you can kind of man a tank by yourself...but it's clunky. Also, when I switched to the gunner's position, the loader wasn't loading any shells......so I couldn't fire....what the??? There isn't much to do at the moment, but I hope this game improves....it has a lot of cool aspects to it that I like.....thus my recommendation....but just take that with a huge grain of salt.
