"You should be an actor, Goldfish." Gameplay: The gunplay in this game is the overall mechanic you'll be spending time with. For four hours, it introduces more enemy variety to keep levels and enviornments interesting and unique. You never spend too long in one place while exploring the tower. Exploration can be creepy, which is neat because these games tend to not creep me out. Guns - There are plenty of them. The game never stops the flow, especially while introducing new guns while you quickly figure out their pros & cons. And yeah, don't go into this expecting Doom-speed shooting, nor is this game particularly difficult, don't let these things stop you. That being said, the game does everything you expect. The guns are all unique, and without heavy spoilers, the "chaingun" equivalent in this game is shaped like a bubblegum machine. Which even shows the gumballs individually decrease as you fire. Setting - If you've read this far, you might've seen me talk about a bubblegum machine chaingun. You read this correctly. This game capitalizes off it's unique setting inside a early 1950s Carnivalesque Disneyworld. Clowns, mermaids, a maze, and even desolate hotel rooms which remind me of Bioshock (I mean this as a complement). Inspiration is worn on this game's skin while still retaining it's own personality. In addition to a well-crafted amusement park which at times feels dreamy, islands ascending from massive heights to connect by bridge to the lobby, etc. Story - The story is pretty entertaining. And I kept waiting for the big reveal, and honestly left a slap in my face by the end. I wasn't moved by any particular points, but the mystery of Vincent and the mysterious villian who kidnaps the player's fiance keeps things pretty interesting. Now, don't go expecting a Silent Hill, but for what we get? It's story is very purposeful and well-constructed to fit within the setting and gameplay to fit pretty nicely once you play this game for yourself. I don't have major complains other than maybe polishing here and there, the mid-air dash isn't my favorite but oh well. It's not a game changer nor does it bring this review down very much. I'm more left wanting to see what else this team (if it becomes a larger team) has to offer in the future and I'm looking forward to what else they create over time. They've clearly proved themselves with this game. It's also really cool considering the price point and this being made by (mostly) two people.

Thomas Brush is such a huge inspiration for indie dev fathers! I've followed the development of this game on yt for 5 years. This will be my first Review ever given. GREAT game! Twisted (hard) mode was challenging enough. Took 9 hours to complete. A few satisfying close call victories. I look forward to the alternate routes in new game +. Atmosphere and story are amazing... Guns are fun and unique!... Real jumpscares! ... just tons of fun! Twisted Tower = Bioshock + Willy Wonka + Disneyland + Tim Burton + Thomas Brush.
Surprisingly good game. For the price - the quality is insane. Feels great on a controller too.

I've been looking forward to this game for a long time coming and I picked it up day one based off the demo and watching the dev on youtube. I'm 2/3 the way through and wow, this game didn't disappoint. I'm super impressed that this game was made by such a small team. I replay Bioshock 1 and 2 occasionally and this game really scratched an itch despite having an identity all it's own. The game controls well, the gunplay reminds me of old xbox era games in a good way. The pacing and progression is excellent. The graphics are excellent. The story and setting has kept me hooked. Enemy variety is just right. The difficulty as you progress ramps up nicely. It's really just such a great package filled with a spooky world that's fun to navigate with a constant drip of new weapons and gadgets to find. There's just one thing missing that might be too on the nose, as an homage to Bioshock, but I wish there was some kind of big bad enemy whom you occasionally have to take down repeatedly as you bump into them along the way up the tower. I don't review games often but this one really made me take a minute to rave. I'm looking forward to finishing this soon to see how the story wraps up and trying an alternate path. Devs, you really made a great game. What a delight.
What an absolute blast, the alternate route system on new game plus has me very excited for a second playthrough.
There is so much charm to this world, everything feels intentional which shows how much love and passion went into this game. It feels like a love letter to classic games from the 2000s while still doing so much creative things that makes it stand out. The atmosphere and sound is top notch I could listen to the Lobby music and main theme forever. Just an impressive and meaningful piece of media!
Indie Bioshock
What do you get when you turn CarnEvil into a FPS? You get Twisted Tower, the closest you'll get to a shooter for your BioShock fix. No plasmids or superpowers like that. Just a demented theme park and a circus themed arsenal. Game can be beaten around 4 hours if you know what you're doing. But it's a great 4 hour romp. Highly recommend.
Bought on a whim after seeing it featured on steam and it was a fantastic story. Very fun combat satisfying upgrade system and the atmosphere is top notch.
