Alright. Tree.Bonsai is done and dusted? Sort of? I wasn't able to trigger the late stage mushroom growth, and I don't know that I really want to sit/click through another tree's life cycle to see if it triggers the next time, so I'm content to call this game completed. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3365975383 It's cool enough. This game basically has you watching a bonsai tree grow. You can interact with it by pruning branches and grafting fruits onto it. Honestly, IMO none of that works particularly well. It does work, but I'd say it's more random as to whether you'll be able to do so at any moment. So, in lieu of all that, what you'll really do is watch the tree interact with the four seasons, changing its appearance with each. However, as Autumn switches to Winter, you will also be able to pick fruit, which best I can tell will allow you to speed up the growth of branches you click on. Or, in the case of the hallucinogenic fruit, it will just outright change the appearance of the tree. You can treat the game as a clicker and clicking it seems to speed up the season cycles. Or you can simply idle it and let the tree do its thing at its own pace. It's really all up to you. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3365975411 I think the graphics are decent and the various seasonal aspects of the tree look cool. Especially when it starts shedding its leaves into the wind. That can look very impressive during the latter stages. And the music is really nice. And at times, the playing picks up its pace and can almost be exciting. Eventually though, your tree will wither and die of old age. After which you are free to start over with another tree. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3365975355 And that is the game in its entirety best I can tell. I liked it for what it was. And I can think of worse things to spend a buck on. Is this a must own, must play? Certainly not. But is it a decent time filler? Yeah. It can be that for you. (warning; was in a bad mood when i tried this game and wrote this review) controls are bad, graphics aren't great, and i am overall very unsatisfied. my only option right away is to just wait for the tree to grow on its own- there's no way to speed up time and already grew in so many borked up ways that i want to fix but none of my tools work. one of them says i have to wait a year, the other doesn't say anything, it just doesn't work. i don't have nearly as much control as i thought i would, and watching it grow isn't satisfying at all, it just feels janky as ♥♥♥♥.
This may be a bit late to the party, but as someone who does bonsai IRL, I have some notes for a sequel or if this game is still being updated (this may get technical). - Tree stem seems to be a bit random. It would be great if forms were implemented and selectable in the game (Bunjin, Chokkan, Kengai etc.) - Wiring forms a big part of bonsai, perhaps having a system with branch tensions (branches can snap if too much pressure if applied) which would allow more agency for styling - Tree taper can be influenced by the amount of branches near the top of the tree, thus perhaps such a system where energy should be balanced to improve health and design - Adding to this, trunk correction would be great (this relates to selecting tree form) as this determines your style - A mechanic where deadwood, shari or jin can be created would be cool, as adding tension to a tree and balancing this with harmony creates interesting designs - An apical dominance system would be beneficial (when branches are allowed to grow at the apex of a tree they produce auxin and growth hormone that suppress buds further down) - Directional pruning would be great as branches seems to continue to grow where you cut them straight, where buds will grow in a direction depending on which of them is closest to the tip (sideways up or down) - To be able to add Nebari would be nice (the visual flow of roots at the base of the tree), as this draws your eye into the trunk and creates the sense of a sturdy tree - Tree species doesn't really make sense currently as the tree with needles (suggesting pine) has the flowers of fruit trees (Prunus) Overall, it has potential. Pretty nice, but I would rate it mixed.

So where do I even start with this game? I mean there's so much to say first of all that statement '' this game is slow and boring'' and ''this game looks ugly'' as some other people have said in their reviews isn't true I thought that at first too, but once I played on a bit more I realized that this game's style is very minimalistic and beautiful and in time I came to absolutely love it :3. And second statement isn't true either, because you can either leave the game on in the background as you do anything and listen to very loud, but chill music of the game and why is no one talking about secret game feature I accidentally found out about? Which is by spamming the heck out of play button you can skip time really fast you don't even have to play this game in the background. And I felt like this game owes an review, because it's really good game once you play it more and I wanted to write this review now, because I now have all the achievements and have played the game multiple times and even through my tree's eventual death 2 times, one time astonishing and impressive 31 years which is almost 12 years 3 times which would be this game's zodiac Chinese calendar completed 3 times and second time 20 years anyway as I said once you get to play this game more you come to realize it's unique minimalistic beautiful style :3 and it's slow pacing or super fast time skip. And I'd give this game 8/10 almost no bugs encountered and I don't like the settings a bit, but otherwise good game. And I know gen Z ers can't read and don't read these kind of long reviews, but hey not only it's the only way I can express myself, but also that isn't my problem that kids and teenagers and humans in general in 21st century can't read long texts and long books or books in general that are longer than few sentences. And this is 3rd PanGuoJun's or romesoft's game I've played idk what he's called his steam profile name is romeosoft, but his developer and publisher name on store page is PanGuoJun for some reason, but the longest game to play through of his well depends probably this one, but if you just want all achievements or even just play through it once until the tree dies, it's also longest game of his to play through, because it has highest number of achievements and hardest out of all his games and has the longest gameplay too and best I have played out of his 9 games which I all own, and I have all his games, because I believe in him and I think it's pretty impressive that he has made 9 games which is more than other people have some indie companies have made only 1 very popular game and that's it, but he's only 1 guy making these games at least I think he's only 1 guy team and he has made 9 games total. And I have played all his 9 games already including this one ( obviously XD ) , but I think PanGuoJun or romeosoft or whatever is his real name I think he's a master at making minimalistic games and unique game ideas others don't make and very unique, but short gameplay and one of the funniest games I have ever played too for example flower design. And first game I played of his is Black Hole Simulator which I liked, because I just love space and so I also love space games too I mean if they're good of course, but that game was literally 5 mins long gameplay and that's it and it was laggy for some reason. Second is '' I Am a Rock '' which I also liked same reasons, but few new reasons : longer gameplay, very good interpretation of how our solar system works and how our planets look like and our solar system looks like, good game to mess around with and relax and wind down after long day, good music, fun. And I hope this developer makes new games, because he has real potential and talent in my opinion in minimalistic style games like these and I hope very much that he makes tree bonsai 2 some day and sequels to his other games like '' I Am a Rock '' and '' Black Hole Simulator '' and make more space themed games, because they're fun and good except his worst and most boring and most recently made game called '' Yin Yang Space '' you can learn more about it on my negative '' Yin Yang Space '' review explaining everything and why it is a negative review. P.S.: developer can feel free to comment on this review of mine and say what he thinks of it. And that's pretty much it for my review if I think of something new I'll think about it and write it here: Now I'll write what the developer needs to improve if he's not completely abandoned this game already. 1 . add sound bar not just sound on and sound off, but you can control how loud is music without needing to shut off all sound. 2 . add separate sound bar like SFX. 3 . add separate ambience sound bar. 4 . add better camera settings, because it's hard to navigate sometimes with camera in all your games where there are camera settings not just this game. 5 . very good idea I have add like 4 game slots so every time you want to start a new game you don't have to restart, you can just have different games and game saves. 6 . I don't remember if this is in the game or not, but add quit to main menu and make a main menu at all, because there isn't one for some reason. 7. You should add save and quit and then separate quit game in main menu. 8 . make spring and summer shorter, because I get that those are the main 2 seasons when tree grows the most, but spring especially is just ridiculously long and summer is long too and autumn is very useful, but is shorter than winter which doesn't make any sense, because winter doesn't serve any purpose ok only purpose is that it is beautiful, but autumn does give new nutrients, giving devil fruit, giving grafting plants, making beautiful laggy as hell leaf dropping XD. And this doesn't make sense also, because in real life every season is about the same length not as in this game ok winter is a bit shorter IRL. 9 . Edit: I only now realized developer can't fix this only the people buying this as the more reviews and more community content like screenshots and other factors can fix this. Oh almost forgot you could fix or do that achievements count towards overall achievements, because this is problem not only for this game, but every game you made where there are achievements aka: Profile Features Limited are for this game when you enter steam page fix this please. Edit: I only now realized developer can't fix this only the people buying this as the more reviews and more community content like screenshots and other factors can fix this and more money gained from the game aka more sales. 10 . bugs I meant one time my tree died, but new game didn't start and new game started without my consent next time it didn't happen though and when I checked which year it is it bugged out and I had to restart the game and as someone suggested in their review you could add a way to see mid game which tree year it is currently. And for now that is it for my constructive criticism. Last edited on 24th December 24.12.2025 exactly on Christmas evening huh. Since in my country we celebrate Christmas on 24th December evening rather than 25th December morning like Americans do. Also no one reads my reviews so I guess I'm at least writing them for myself as a reminder in a way I have never written a review for a DLC yet, because idk I will eventually though + I'm too lazy to write reviews even though I'm good at writing them at least movie reviews and my yapping is good structure and grammar not so much as it always hasn't been. Ah lastly this game took like 17,4 hrs to 100% for me since I haven't played this much since writing this review.
mmm yes tree

游戏还可以,但我其实是想看着他慢慢长,不想自己修剪,但这个窗口切出去就到后台不给看了,希望可以改一下。很放松的一个过程。
This is a very slow paced relaxing game with minimal user interaction. Simple controls and options. I like to leave this running while I am working and check on my tree while taking a break, modifying when needed then letting it continue to grow. This is not for people with short attention spans. I enjoy and appreciate this for what it is.
i did have some problems with mushroom achievements, but i figured them out. its great and kinda cute game. easy to play, easy controls, fun. so yeah, try it!
