About
Break free of the grid in Town to City: a cozy city builder that invites you to create a beautiful and bustling community.
Freely place houses, shops, and amenities and natural elements to delight your residents and encourage new families to move in. As your population grows, so can your ambitions: create multiple towns that can grow alone or thrive together, helping the whole region develop and prosper.
In story or sandbox mode, you're free to build at your own pace, placing each flower bed with pixel precision, or prioritise growing your economy and developing your town into a thriving city.
Truly grid-less building sets you free to lay out your town however you like. Plan out carefully ordered rows of houses and city districts, or grow outwards organically with residences, amenities, parks and plazas connected by winding streets and alleys. Freely shape the land beneath your feet with terraforming tools for elevation, water, and terrain.
Beautify your settlement to your heart's content with a plethora of customisation options. Set up lighting, plant flowers and wooded parks, and decorate houses and buildings to complement or contrast. With gorgeous voxel graphics as a base and plenty of tools for fine-tuning, it's easy to create something beautiful that you'll want to capture with the in-game photo mode or stroll through in first-person view.
As your town flourishes, you’ll need to meet the needs of your growing population. Provide amenities that will cater for everyone – from workers to artisans and the bourgeoisie – alongside specific requests by individual residents. Get to know each person as they arrive in town, and watch them settle down to form new families in the homes you built for them with pets and livestock by their side.
Assign workers to jobs, research new buildings and decorations, and boost your sleepy settlement into a bustling centre of commerce. As you expand beyond the bounds of your first town, you'll pursue new developments in farming and tourism by building new towns, all connected by trade and travel routes.

Very cozy, warm, relaxing, chill medieval city builder. The look has some resemblance to minecraft but it's fun to play. The music is on point. I like the french/violin or accordion instrumental music. Not bad for a $30 game. Long day at work? give this a try. 10/10
This game is crazy fun. You can literally customise every house in the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ town and i mean it. This game is not a cozy game tho. It is only cozy till you open your economy tab and find out that your town is not producing enough cheese. For god knows what people here eat a lot of cheese :) Over all a must play if you are into city builders.
Impressively complex as the game builds. It's also gorgeous. Some quips/advice to players: - Placement of buildings as they snap to narrower roads is broken 50% of the time. Something will appear "snapped" to the narrow road, and then placing it has it in a different orientation and not connected. Gets moderately annoying in late game once things get dense. - Needs more keyboard shortcuts for common operations and better documentation of shortcuts in the UI. - Terraforming graded ramps into things is possible but tedious with current tools. I have found the best way to be extending the lower ground as leveled and then using the smoothing tool from the upper ground onto the lower ground. With enough passes and tune-ups, it creates a graded slope. - It's hard to see why populations are unhappy. I typically need to drill down to individuals. An aggregate view of missing amenities and environmental factors would help. If this exists, I can't find it. - By mid-game, it's usually easier to pick incoming residents who do have extra preferences because it's like free, bonus happiness (that doesn't directly consume commodities). A resident with an extra, satisfied preferences is 20 pts. happier vs. 10 pts. sadder if they have an unfulfilled preference. I have found that I start rejecting residents who lack preferences by mid-game unless I'm pressed for basic workers. - As a city grows, the decoration mechanic starts feeling too tedious to use in creative ways. So, I start spamming things like ivy on homes (which is a bit exploity, as much as that means something for this game, because of how it doesn't require unique ground tiles). I'd like more very/extremely pretty buildings/things I can use to expensively but quickly make areas satisfy resident preferences. Being expensive would keep some pressure to be creative early game but not encourage decor spam late game.
Very enjoyable, pretty, funny game, but at this time - there is NOT optimization. With my specs - 5-10 fps with the lowest settings after reach 500-600 citizens....
I loved the game itself- very chill gameplay and very nice and easy mechanics- but the font size, for some reason, does not get adjusted on the steam deck (only on pc). Since Id primarily planned to play it on Deck (+Mouse and keyboard), it's unfortunately a no for now. Will likely rebuy it once the other updates are out + font size fixed, so a warning for deck players that unless you want to use a magnifying glass (or, alternatively, the decks zoom in function, which makes this a whole lot clunkier to play), id say wait for an update to get it fixed. Only getting a thumbs down in hopes of devs seeing this and implanting it soon!
Town to City: Charming Village Builder
Town to City is what happens when city-building games stop yelling at you about efficiency for five minutes and instead decides to hand you a cup of tea and allows you to relax. Set in the 19th century, you begin with a sleepy little village and gradually transform it into a charming, slightly larger sleepy village. At first it's all quaint cottages, dirt roads, and people who seem perfectly content with life. Then, before you know it, you're obsessing over road layouts at 1:00 a.m. because clearly the bakery needs to be three tiles closer to the warehouse but you want a small garden just right *there*. Visually, this game is an absolute treat and I'm usually not a fan of voxel graphics. Everything is ridiculously cute without becoming sugary, and the world has a warm, storybook charm that makes you want to zoom in and watch your little townsfolk go about their day. Every street, garden, and building feels lovingly crafted. It's the sort of game that makes you say, "I'll just decorate this one neighborhood," and suddenly you've spent an hour placing flowerboxes with the intensity of a Victorian landscape architect. The great thing is that the game actually rewards you for that. Your villagers want to live in a beautiful neighborhood and I don't think you could make an ugly city. The progression from tiny farming village to thriving city is deeply satisfying. Watching your settlement grow feels organic, and it's hard not to get attached to the place you've painstakingly built—especially after you've relocated half the population because you decided the main road should curve slightly to the left. Furthermore, there's a surprising amount of depth here with many systems like farming and tourism to unlock. Population density is both required but too much has a negative effect on your townies. There's room for both efficiency and aesthetics. Perhaps the greatest achievement of Town to City is that it makes urban planning feel relaxing. There's no constant sense of impending doom, no meteor crashing into your cabbage farm every ten minutes, and no citizens launching angry protests because someone had to walk an extra twelve feet to buy bread. It's refreshingly peaceful. This is a game you can just let run for a while but unlike most city builders, with caps on both research points and money, letting it run overnight to build up a massive pile of dough isn't possible here. It balances both a desire to constantly tinker without ever feeling frantic. If you enjoy city builders, cozy games, or simply staring at beautiful little towns while convincing yourself you're "just making one more improvement," Town to City is an easy recommendation. It's charming, gorgeous, surprisingly addictive, and proof that watching tiny Victorian people carry boxes around can somehow become your entire evening. Verdict: Come for the adorable village. Stay because you've become emotionally invested in the placement of a decorative fountain. I highly recommended Town to City at full price and it will make my top 5 Games of the Year list. It's really just that good - a game that is fun, peaceful, undemanding all while providing challenge and constant interesting mechanics.
Creo que es el mejor City Builder que he probado jamás, y he pasado por muchos: Banished, Dawn of Man, Ostriv, Cities: Skylines, Foundation, Manor Lords, Frostpunk, varios Sim Cities, varios Tropico... Hasta Minecraft, Valheim, Against the Storm, The Forest o cualquier otro juego sandbox de construcción de bases.
