About
Hotel Magnate is a tycoon/simulator game that gives you the tools to build and manage your own hotel, motel, luxury resort, or shabby shack. It is whatever you make of it.
Beginning with nothing but dreams and an empty lot, you can shape your hotel to your liking. Pick from an assortment of rooms and facilities that will grow both your floorspace and your revenue stream. Build restaurants for the foodies, day spas for the vacationers, and conference halls for the workaholics. There’s a wide range of rooms to choose from.
Once you’ve laid down the foundations, it’s time to pick out the decor. That’s right; you get to customize everything down to the furniture and decorations. Make it wacky, make it classy, or change up the theme from room to room. You will attract different types of guests as your hotel grows and its rating changes, bringing new opportunities and challenges. Remember, the customer is usually wrong, but you’re in the service industry now. Get your hotel in shape, slap on your best smile, and be prepared for whatever comes.

Build, furnish, and oversee your own hotel
Tend to your guests' needs and demands, and attract wealthier clientele by improving facilities and securing better ratings
Hire employees to clean, serve, manage, and maintain your hotel
Take control of the inner-workings of your hotel by managing bedrooms, wages, restaurants, and many other operations
Become adept at marketing to attract different types of guests and generate buzz

The facilities you provide have a major impact on the types of guests your hotel attracts. Each facility attracts a certain type of client, but might convince others to stay well away. Are you thinking about creating a health and wellness resort? Gym and spa facilities will go a long way to attract health-conscious holidaymakers.
Guest rooms and en-suite bathrooms
Restaurants
Kitchens and laundry
Bars/Nightclubs
Pools, gyms, spas
Staff-rooms
& Much More!

Hire staff to keep your hotel running smoothly. Be sure to pick the right people for the various positions, as each will have different skill levels and wage demands.
Your hotel will be frequented by many guests, including but not limited to:
Backpackers
Partygoers
Families
Luxury seekers
Health nuts
A strange fellow named George
Don’t forget to keep an eye on your hotel rating! If you offer poor accommodation to your guests, do not expect them to be friendly when they put their reviews online. Ratings will naturally affect how many clients you receive in the future, as well as the type.
Hotel Magnate provides players with an enormous amount of customization and choice, allowing you to create a piece of paradise or a nightmarish motel. Your decisions will affect every aspect of play, so be prepared to deal with the consequences.

Game concept is fantastic and I remember a bit from early access when the game first released. I'm a bit disappointed with how the game developed after early access. The game menus and tutorials are incredibly complicated. There is a career mode, but instead of you starting a small hotel and building as the game advertises, you are inheriting other hotels and having to do complicated scenarios that are ultimately just unnecessary for the type of game this is. There are also LOTS of bugs. Like, way too many that should have been resolved in early access. My game has crashed not less than three times in less than two hours. I have to constantly restart the game to continue playing. Also the tutorial is way too long, and too complicated. I do think the game is fun when playable, but the other aspects make it difficult to continue playing. It seems like developers over-complicated a simple and fun idea.
Once you get the hang of its UIs and controls (since there is no tutorial), it's chill and great to pass time. Not too complex or complicated, just the right amount with freedom to decorate and manage. But at the current moment this is NOT worth buying yet: - Too many bugs in scenario mode, cannot progress further - Some bugs in general, although it never crashed - The rate at which it gets updated or bug fixes are VERY slow - Forget support
Had a lady laying sideways across a chair, people walking on water, dev tags still on a lot of descriptive assets, grid snapping doesn't work, got stuck in "DISASTER MODE" despite fire being put out, fire extinguisher button stuck on screen. That's just the bugs I can remember. All reported using the report tool (also buggy). Had to give up as I couldn't proceed. Tried again and the missions bugged getting stuck on kicking out the patron. Tried again and place the pool mission got stuck. I place the pool and it didn't register.
It seems like a lot of work went into it; but for all of its complexity there isn't much of a tutorial. I encountered some instability early on, so this is a "No" for me.
Noticing the recent 1.0 release, I decided to re-install this game (after quite some time) and became pleasantly surprised! I encountered no significant bugs (actually none, so far, after playing 10+ hours). Version 1.0 seems to be stable and I'm quite enjoying it. In this state it behaves like I expect this sim to do and it's fun. I like!
September 27, 2025 - The sensitivity for zooming in and out and panning around is very fast on the keyboard and very slow with the mouse. There are no options for this. They were promised to be in a further update back in April of this year in a forum post by a developer. I ended up asking for a refund because for me it was unplayable without sensitivity settings.
Has potential but too clunky and difficult to play. Would not recommend.
I love the idea of this game and was so looking forward to it, but it was a huge disappointment. The tutorial didn't actually show how to do anything. I've played enough of these games to figure things out, but it was frustrating. Then before I made any progress a fire started. By the time I had figured out what to do it had massively spread and the only response seemed to be clicking each square multiple times to manually put it out. If I waned to play a clicker game, I would be playing one. I hate that kind of thing. I just immediately quit and won't be playing it again. I'm an avid tycoon/management game player and the issues with this one completely drove me away.
I backed the devs on Kickstarter eons ago, and I have to say I am very disappointed in the result. Tutorial is overcomplicated, menus and general gameplay is clunky, and it was already tedious to play even in the very short time I did.
idea is good, but the game play is not. Horrible controls and limited documents/help leaving you trying to figure out where things are located and how to do them. feels clumsy. Needs a LOT of work. I wouldn't pay more than 5 dollars to try this because as is you will forget it pretty quickly.
