Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 4.29/day in the week to Aug 16 → 5.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Reviews
Just play Rome 2. This game is very clunky and unintuitive to play, and hasn't aged well.
Just came from Shogun2, the cavalry in Total War: Rome is so powerful and useful. But btw, the Phalanx is so powerful too. The graphics is good & modern, new UI is quite helpful, but AI is still silly somehow.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 19: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
Garbage game!
Lost in 245BC as House of Julius, on normal diff, with REBALANCED settings ON. How did this happen? I followed SPQR orders, started war with Gauls. Shortly after taking Mediolanum, 4 units of Hestati or whatever (light infantry) garnisoned here for defence lost siege battle against single gaul cavalry unit. After that event i took city back and was constantly sieged by Gaul forces, they were sending full army every 2-3 turns into siege. So i had no choice like to send constantly produced light and heavy infantry into Mediolanum. Basically a stationary war were i couldn't collect forces to attack them, and they couldn't break through. What happened next was a random war declaration by Dacia or more precisely: invasion without declaring a war. What is weird is that i had relatively good relations with Dacia and had Trade with. For no reason they sent out 3 full armies and steamrolled me. Couldn't do ♥♥♥♥ anymore at this point House of Scipio (blue~) was winning against Carthage, but House of Brutus (green~) was losing just as i did. REBALANCED version of the game, if not entire Remaster, is extremely weak. Doesn't look "that good" to bother, but you can't really buy "old version" anymore. AI is straight forward cheating and rigging the game to make it more "enteraining" and "interesting" i guess. If you want more fair experience in the "older" games, but on "newer engine". Go for either Medieval II: Total War, or Shogun II: Total War. These at least felt fair.
Once you get used to the weird UI, this is best way to experience this classic. Still one of the best Total War games ever.
Just buy the original. This remaster is so close to being good- but unfortunately despite the engine upgrades, the graphical fidelity and what not- Its inferior to the original mainly because of the new UI being an atrocious downgrade that looks like something from a mobile game. That and the total overhaul mods for the original game ala Roma Surrectum III or Europa Barabarum are pretty much complete as opposed to the total overhaul mods for the remaster being incomplete and mostly seemingly abandoned. I still believe to this day that the original Rome Total War with Roma Surrectum overhaul blows pretty much every other total war game out of the water and is still the best total war game you can possibily play.
Bought on sale, glad I did. There is bug which - upon investigation - seems to be a longstanding one, involving the mouse no longer working properly in game. Seems to take about 10 minutes to kick in at which point game becomes all but unplayable both on the map and during campaign. There are proposed fixes online, none worked for me. If you are lucky enough to not encounter this issue, I'd say from what little of the game I was able to play that it is just a prettier version of the oringal with little to none of its charm and fancy new UI that isn't an improvement on the old one. Highlight for me before my mouse stopped working properly was the artificial voice overs for the tutorial. Note: Mouse works fine with other games so... yeah.
game crash again and again
Game crashes a lot, to the point it's not playable.
The only reasons why you should buy this game. - 6€ for the classic ones (Rome Total War, Barbarian Invasion and Alexander) plus Remastered for all these games - If you like the old ones and didn't buy it yet - If you buy it but you want to try out the improvements on your own But before you buy it honestly I've got mixed feelings about the improvements in remastered version. Good improvements - New agents Merchants but (without mod useless) - You can modding the game like the classic and they made a documentation about it - Diplomatic Improvements (you can see at least why they're pissed off and decline the deal) - Battle Mode familiar like Empire Total War Style - More detailed information in campaign map - Cancelled end turn if your units or agents were stucked (which it's nice) - Units are looking differently (so no clone army like on the classics) - Night battles are possible in classic remastered Now I'm coming with the bad ones - Loading times are much longer as the classic ones (and my PC overfullfill all their requirements) so I'm assuming it's related with SSD/HDD because I'm not the only one who report this - More crashes as the classic ones EVEN on campaign map for unknown reasons - Bugged mod files from the start (without show errors and debugging you would not see this) but as modder you have to check and fix them first - Protectorate does not work anymore as expected (reason see next issue) - You can stop AIs to fight each other by ally both of them which was a great advantage to delay their "lifespan" (so you can wipe them off instead) - Also if you ally Faction A which Faction B is an enemy and your ally Faction B will break alliance instead of force truce with Faction A (Idk why they change it) - UI without proper settings is a nightmare - Windowed Mode is always "fading in|out" for weird reasons - Missed potencial about video sequences (mods can fix this) - Loading Screenshots are also dissapointing (mods can fix this) - Maybe it was because I skipped this once but I can't play the "Tutorial Campaign" in remastered at all - AI is mostly useless like the classic ones (mods can maybe fix this) Many things can be modified otherwise the vanilla remastered games would be unplayable.
