Man the combat ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks...... until it doesn't. It only look me about 10 hours to get over it before I truly unlocked the real beauty of this game.
If you're planning to play The Witcher series, I highly recommend starting with the first game. It does a great job of introducing the world and its characters, making it much easier to appreciate the rest of the trilogy. Unlike The Witcher 3, this isn't a true open-world game, but that doesn't take away from the experience. The story is engaging, the pacing is solid, and it's easy to finish in around 30 hours without feeling rushed. The soundtrack is memorable, and the atmosphere is one of the game's greatest strengths, especially during Chapter IV, which is still one of my favorite parts of the entire series. If you've read Andrzej Sapkowski's books, you'll probably appreciate this game even more, as it captures the novels better much than the later games. The combat system isn't particularly deep, but it's enjoyable. The timing based attacks, cool animations, and character progression work well together, making fighing fun from beginning to the end...
Was soll ich hier groß schreiben, habe alle Bücher gelesen, Filme geschaut und alle drei Spiel Teilen gespielt. Bin einfach vom Gerald begeistert.
Me lo eh pasado bien, muy bien y a valido cada maldita hora
TLDR for people who can't be bothered and want it fast: The game's not good. Plain and simple. Now for the people who are curious as to the why... Well, there's plenty of reasons as to why: First and foremost, this game does not respect your time at all.Not one damn bit. There's no fast travel, there's no mounts to use, there's not a shortcut you could take, because the genius designers at CD PROJEKT RED decided that blocking half the sandbox with invisible walls so i have to take the long way around every single time i want to go from point A to point B is very good game design. I did discover recently into my errand boy runs that if i take the Crowd style stance,my Geralt moves faster. Guess what? DURING THE DAY WHILE WALKING AROUND YOU CANNOT USE IT(outside of scripted events and entering hostile places and all that jazz). Now to top it all off, there are no random encounters, monsters attacking you outside quests (back to those scripted events) and random encounters that would require you to fight. Now let's get into the gameplay loop.Plain boring and repetitive to no end. You play a rythm game where you just have to time your attacks with the FLAMING SWORD. Use the signs twice a fight, and don't forget to spam potions i guess. Some people would say this game just aged bad. Im here to tell you, it was never good. I mean at first i thought that this game was just old and some leniency was required. So i searched up when it appeared and what other games came in the year it was released. That happens to be 2007. Do you care to know what other games came in that year? Halo 3,Assassins Creed,Modern Warfare 4(When COD was still good),Bioshock,Crysis and quite a few other big titles. So honestly, that excuse is just not valid, because games that came out in the same year and quite a number that came before actually aged well and are still perfectly playable to this day, without any given leniency.

Story is boring, combat is horrible. The only thing that is mildly interesting is the sex cards. And honestly the only reason I could get through this game is because of 3. If not for 3 I wouldn't have went to play this game and now im on the 2nd game which is already better to play at least. If you do care about the characters of Witcher, its still good to play this cause you wanna see where some of them came from but other than that, its just a huge slog.
