The Sinking City Remastered

I've ultimately landed on a negative review, and that split on the performance that ruined my enjoyment. I was already on the fence about the game. It's not bad, but I didn't find it particularly fun. It feels like most of my time is spent traveling from place to place, then searching for clues that often seem arbitrary, all for a brief 30-second payoff when a case finally comes together. On top of that, I couldn't stop noticing the constant reuse of the same assets throughout the world, and the combat is simply not enjoyable, and the sanity mechanic is obtuse and annoying. That said, there are things I liked. Digging through newspapers and police records to find information is a great mechanic and adds some satisfying detective work. What finally pushed me toward a negative review was the technical side. No matter what graphics settings I change or how many online guides I follow, I can't stop the lighting from frequently flashing between so dark I can't see anything to bright (normal?). It's a well-known issue, and it's incredibly distracting. To make matters worse, DLSS and frame gen still haven't been fixed since the remaster launched. I was genuinely excited to play this game. When the remaster was announced, I decided to wait so I could experience the best version. Instead, I ended up with a game that I can't bring myself to play because the technical issues get in the way of everything else, and the game is not enough fun to make me overlook it.

The Sinking City Remastered is a great upgrade, with improved visuals and a much cleaner presentation while keeping the Lovecraftian atmosphere intact. It runs flawlessly at a clean 120 FPS on my system, making exploration and detective work feel smoother than ever. A solid remaster for both new and returning players. Looking forward to The Sinking City 2!

remastered version is just broken, the lightning is all over the place. from too bright too pitchblack in a second.

This is a great game

this game is just not for me. theres something in this game that makes me dislike it but i just cant figure out 100% what is. i cant get myself immersed in the game no matter how much i try. this might be due to the snappy character movement that i would expect from a pvp shooter and how the dialog heavily reminds me of dialog from fallout 4. i saw reviews that the original 2019 version is better than remastered so i played that one instead, i have a pretty good pc so i had my settings turned up to max but noticed it had stuttering and was lagging at 62fps so i decided to just lower my settings from epic/ultra down to high and i was still at 62fps? im guessing the fps is capped but atleast the the lag and stuttering stopped. i know the mc is struggling from these nightmares but i still dont really like how he just looks like hes been on a 3 day weed smoking spree.
