Hailed as one of the largest, longest and most meticulously detailed turn-based JRPG series of all time, this first chapter in the ongoing Trails saga sets the stage for what's quickly become Ys developer Nihon Falcom's most popular and best-selling franchise in their entire 30+ year history.

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.43/day in the week to Sep 3 → 0.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 22 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,513 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

If you love JRPGs, this is one of the best. Great characters, great music, great turn based combat, amazing story. NG+ as well. What more could you want in a JRPG?
A fun and straightforward steamwork RPG about rising the ranks of a guild during a political shift in your home country. I was very entertained by the entire cast (yes even Estelle) and enjoyed their time in the story. Combat is fun and tactical due to the movement and delayed magic system. Music was suitable but the sound effects feel punchy. Did not know this was Part 1 going into it but I'm looking forward to Part 2 when I start it.

Joshua when I get you Joshua
Spent 5-6 hours playing, the worst part: game keeps crashing. Slow paced game with typical annoying and unnecessary dialogues, and instead of classical rpg turn based battles it uses a tactics-like approach where you need to get near an enemy square to attack it. Has enemies with long range attacks that push you back, which makes approaching them much harder. Skills and spells usually have a charging time. Terrible mini map. Quests dont really provide useful hints as for where to complete them.
Great game~! Worth a visit if you want a classic rpg feel. Check it out before buying the remake if you want a step back in time. Double your achievement power too
Overall an excellent RPG. The art style felt timeless, the gameplay felt fun and very strategic (I really like the positioning-based system here, it was quite reminiscent of Live a Live) and the story and characters were gripping, especially towards the end. The world itself was also very fleshed out and had a great deal of interesting building. Definitely a recommend.

Probably one of the best jrpgs I have played. Great world building and character writing. Rather simple combat system but the orbs are fun to play around with. Fire music too.
