Picking up shortly after The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, Estelle travels across Liberl in search of Joshua. The journey involves more than seeking loved ones, however, as the Bracer Guild also tasks her with unraveling the mysteries behind the newly unveiled Society of Ouroboros.

Greatest of all time. Zenith of the medium. Hallmark of media. Gold standard of storytelling. Apogee of creativity. Vertex of invention. Crest of ingenuity. Acme of imagination. Pinnacle of innovation. Epic of epics. Legend among legends. Peak fiction
6/10 - I'm somewhere in the middle of loving and hating this game. There's a lot to love about it, but its sooo bloated and way too long for what it is. At 56 hours in the final chapter, having done none of the side quests, I can say they could have cut about 15-20 hours out. The game is also wildly inconsistent in its design... an example would be key items sometimes need to selected to be used, but most of the time just automatically does it. Pick a lane. The difficulty is all over the place as well. No trouble with any of the bosses, but constantly one-shotted by regular enemies who all seem to have max str and spd. The characters are good/great, and I really just wanted to find out what happened to Joshua... but I feel Like the pay off wasn't worth it.
Nota: 10/10
"One step at a time! We'll walk it together to the end!"**
There's something very personal and utterly endearing about Estelle as a protagonist that you just cannot get in any other game, and any kind of organic storytelling such as Falcom's Trails. Estelle is, without a doubt, my top 2 female protagonist in gaming (t1 being Terra Branford). Trails in the Sky SC is an experience to forever remember. Never witnessed a jprg this complete and intricate in its world along with its heavily inter-connected dialogue where every line just adds an organic flavor no other jrpg can. The sequel really enhances almost everything FC had built upon, from the Orbment system upgrades, to gratifying character arcs, to one of the most insane story & world-building heights in gaming. The cast we grew with in FC were tested to their limits in SC, bringing eureka moments for the cast with each of their own transformative arcs. SC delivers a most satisfying ending to a fully flourished region of the Liberl Kingdom, and oh boy, I can't wait to see the cutscene fights of SC in the remake Second Chapter. Thank you Nihon Falcom. FC introduced me to the Trails series. SC made solidified this as MY ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ FRANCHISE. P.S. Can we just take a moment to acknowledge and thank the Trails series, the only franchise to have Olivier Lenheim? Olivier is legitmately the most unique, well-thoughtout, masterfully written and entertaining jrpg character ever. Every scene of him is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ masterpiece. The Whereabouts of Bonds by Hoshi no Arika by Falcom Sound Team plays while writing this review.
There's like 3 scenes in this game that I consider some of the most moving scenes I have ever witnessed. Most of the gameplay is pretty whatever though. Also, I struggle to think any female character produced by Japan to be as entertaining as Estelle in recent memory. Like to name some female characters I like: I can think of Kaguya Shinomiya and Misaki Tobisawa and Beatrice from Umineko. Female characters aren't really allowed to "do stuff" I guess you can say, but she kind of just girlbosses her way to the finish line, despite being not particularly OP in verse or anything. A spectacular display of agency. Estelle is amazing and I don't even know where to start on the glaze. Like a top 5 female character for me rn.
.
This is my second playthrough. Ironically, I am afraid to continue playing it and watch how the story unfolds;
especially the reunion scene.
Trails has always been my favorite JRPG (with Suikoden), yet this 2nd Sasuke triggered me in some way because I used to know someone with the similar vibe irl. It was absurd of me to stop my progress just because I can relate to Estelle's
naivety & hopefulness toward a certain edgy-tragic-miserable-foolish boy who is an ultra avoidant and feels very undeserving much hahaha xD Do all men have obsession of tragic-unworthy-complex-wounded-lonely villain mindset like this? I understand that Joshua's trauma came back even tho he was basically healed by Estelle. But flipping up the switch without even thinking of her consent is brutally selfish thing to do, bruh.. She was perfectly fine before, then she has to suffered in confusion while reclaiming her identity. Even everyone in the team got confused looking for this Sasuke. Oh well, at least this is just a plot of a game and everything ends nicely. Joshua gets his redemption arc while Estelle gets the ending she deserves, atta girl~
The OSTs and the battle system got updated... The story and the NPCs legacies carried on... and.. yeah.. there is no reason for you to stop playing after witnessing the FC ending eh? Don't let the poor maiden's tears got left hanging alone and confused xD
Alright bois, trails in the sky second chapter
game begins with a legendery return of none other than
big boss cassius bright
and so epoc and sadge. but do not problem,
renne
is an epoc creature equivalent to person 1 dawg in epocness!!11! !!! veri touching story and lorence is
a toug baba boi with epoc baba boi sword fearing all none-baba boi. and even renne has a baba boi. WHATTT
, can u even beleive dat??!!!11 ok, enough baba boi she can also be bery sus with her large "stick", look out as u know , estelle is trying to find joshua and thats where the story rolls on and the real culprits shows up which is extreme excitement with all their reveal and the purpose of all their actions has been building up and making the time spent absolutely worth it. went through countless goosebumps, some tears and big sad at the end. All that aside, strongly recommended and story is 9.5/10 without the filler dialogues. until next time boi
