This is one of the best RPGs ever made. While it's definitely trying to have more mainstream appeal than Morrowind, there's still great storytelling to be had. There's still the RPG systems that made Elder Scrolls great since Daggerfall. There's some of the most interesting quests in the series. The NPCs are as crazy as people are in real life. This game maybe damaged my brain and then Morrowind made it even worse but I am so glad it did. Maybe it's a bit more streamlined than Morrowind, but Oblivion still lets you create a character whom you can step into the shoes of to have a true computer role-playing experience. The optimal way to play is however you set up your character to play. There's definitely more of a focus on good vs. evil, but this was when the Peter Jackson LOTR movies had fantasy fans by a stranglehold. Be good, be evil, do whatever you want. The fairy tale beauty of Cyrodiil hides the remaining darkness of a dying empire, the rubble of which YOU must hold together to keep everything from falling apart. This is probably the best TES game to start with. Morrowind can be a little challenging if you aren't familiar with CRPGs and Skyrim doesn't have the RPG mechanics that made Elder Scrolls a good RPG yeah... but they won't series. I might be repeating myself a bit, but this game is so worth the while. Just make sure to get the Unofficial Oblivion Patch and maybe a mod to fix the level scaling. The weird level scaling is like the biggest issue this game has. Don't play the remake.

Skooma brain damage fun

I love the open world, being able to travel across the map and see the beautiful views; I love the nostalgia of it all, too. The plot is fantastic, and every time I replay I like to have a go with different subplots like the fighters, mages, or thieves guilds, or the Shivering Isles. The characters are vibrant and often very funny. I've been playing this game for years and I never get tired of it!

I like the game it is fun

Ok so this is my first elder scrolls experience....i wanted to start with Skyrim but i heard many ppl talk about how Oblivion is even better than Skyrim so decided to give it a shot. Well the combat is a little janky but the quests are so addictive. The story is amazing and the world design is phenomenal. Would recommend to all who want to get a taste of elder scrolls verse and also seriously looking forward to playing Skyrim after this.
